And now this. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5753040)

The Washington Redskins coach says the quarterback wasn't in good enough shape to run a two-minute offense with no timeouts.

Shanahan on Monday said McNabb has been struggling with hamstring injuries for five weeks and didn't have the "cardiovascular endurance" to stay on the field with the game on the line against Detroit. Shanahan said he even considered not playing McNabb at all against the Lions.

Erm, well...I remember seeing him on the sidelines while Grossman was trotting out onto the field to commence his "**** if, I'm going deep" campaign. He wasn't even breathing hard. I know the cardio fitness knock is not a new one against McNabb, but seems like waffling to me.

It looks like the Associated Press agrees because it ended the article some uncharacteristic commentary:

McNabb looked fine during the game and even rushed for a team-high 45 yards.

I wonder what new excuse Shanny uses tomorrow to justify his boneheaded decision. "Ms. Cleo told me not to play him the whole game!"

At least McNabb passed the fitness test in training camp... right?

Is it possible to sigh and laugh at the same time. Rooting for this team builds character. Kind of like when your first dog dies.

Or "everytime McNabb gets benched, an angel gets his wings"

...how about "the guy I'm playing in my fantasy league started him and I was up by 6 points".

More like like when your first dog dies in a murder-suicide pact with dogs two and three...I guess you can't eliminate organizational disfunction in one offseason.
