“I’ve not put too much thought on it, personally,” Bell said in a phone interview from his offseason home in Arizona. “I knew that they were going to try and bring someone in. And my job is the same, to go out in spring training, do my best and prove somebody wrong.”

“I am approaching spring training the same way I always have, and that’s to break camp with the big league team,” Bell said. “That’s always my mindset in spring training.”

Also, he's lost 12 pounds and hopes to lose another 10. He finished last year at 242.

Here's hoping losing weight somehow directly translates into making contact.

Less belly in the way so he can be more compact to contact? :)

He shouldn't be concerned...There is still a place for him on this team and he could still be the long term solution at third base.

Plus, he needs to perform to maybe get dealt and get a chance with another team.

I like his quotes and his thought process. If he performs, we will find a spot for him or someone else will because we have been able to use him in a trade. It all comes down to his performance and he apparently recognizes that fact.

Anyone else notice that Connolly used the same Bell quote twice. Good article, but that's weird.

He shouldn't be worried because if he hits, he will play. That simple.

I think this sums it up nicely. All last season showed was that he was rushed. He still has plenty of opportunity to perform, and he'll get nowhere worrying about who has been brought in to play.

But if he has a few minutes, if he could learn first base... couldn't hurt his chances.

Yeah but that arm... what a waste that would be.

Could always move Reynolds to 1B.

Every little bit (less) helps? Maybe it's just me, but I can't remember seeing very many swings uglier than Bell's (especially from the left side). Looked like a rusty door falling off its hinges last season.
