Hunter's a stand-up guy as evidenced by his post game quotes. Didn't the Steelers punter get IR'd? Maybe he'll land with them and have a postseason opportunity.
His touchdown run and pass last season were epic.

Meh...In a season where a team is limping to the finish line, I don't really see the point. If we were vying for a playoff spot, maybe I'd agree with this.
Then again, it's not like Hunter Smith was doing that great this year.

This article (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/15/decision-to-cut-hunter-smith-highlights-d-c-dysfunction/)is ridiculous. Florio fails to mention that Hunter hasn't done well as a punter either. I have no problem with this move. It gives you a chance to look at some people who could maybe help next season. No harm.

Florio just copies and pastes off Extremeskins.com. He no longer has those outdated journalistic vestiges called "sources."
As for Hunter the Punter, I've always liked him and was glad when they brought him back; however, his performance punting the ball is independently enough to justify the cut. His average is a paltry 33.7 net yards per punt. It would be ridiculous to cut talent for one bad play, especially on a team desperately looking for more talent. Good thing that is not what this was.
