A year ago, the Redskins were a circus. Now they are a football team. Not a very good one yet, to be sure. But one that entirely bears the stamp of their stern new coach.

Boswell takes a look at the Redskins as they wrap the 2010 season...

Although I had hoped for more progress in the W/L record, I hadn't expected the Redskins to morph into a playoff team in one year. Overall, I think they made decent progress, identified some younger players who will help the team in the future, and fought hard right to the end despite a slew of injuries that hampered them. Obviously the Haynesworth situation was a huge distraction that won't be repeated. Trading for McNabb was a mistake and now they have big question marks at QB, which is always a huge problem for any team. But, they are much more like a football team than a circus, as Boswell said. The Haynesworth situation was a problem in 2010 but it had the beneficial effect of removing any doubt about who is in charge and what is expected of the players. So, in the long run, that whole episode may have been beneficial to the future of the team. If they can come up with a half-decent solution at QB, I think the Redskins will be a .500+ team next year.
