Should the Redskins consider this? and what would it take? Would McNabb be enough? Maybe McNabb and a 5th rounder? Would we get the most out of Haynesworth in a trade like this?
I really don't know how much exact trade value Palmer has?
I doubt he has much value since he hasn't been good in quite some time.
I'm not interested.

I think he has more value than McNabb, at least due to age.

Maybe, but McNabb has had a much better career until last year. Regardless, the Skins can just cut McNabb without much issue.

My point is, we want to get at least something for McNabb. If we can get some value for McNabb in exchange for Palmer who is a couple years younger and might be a victim of two big injuries and a franchise that may have mis-used him.
I am just saying, we might be buying low on a guy that could find a couple more years of NFL starting QB level performance in him.
One thing against it, is I don't think that Palmer has ever been a good scrambler and that may be something that Shanahan looks for. I am not sure.
I am curious where this goes though... First we gotta see a CBA!

Yeah, like a draft pick. I don't want to deal him for a mediocre QB with a big contract, I'd rather just cut McNabb.

When I saw the headline earlier at the ESPN site, I groaned at the possible thought of the Redskins pursuing him. Considering the current regime, they may not, which would be just as well.

I'm betting he ends up back in the USC offense at SEA. Maybe they'll trade us a higher pick for Fred Davis too.

If this is the case, would Hasselbeck suit us better over the next couple years?

I'd much rather trade Cooley than Davis.

Nope, he's over the hill and falling apart. Transitioning to backup status for his last couple years. If you are going to take a guy and make him conform to this system he better be young and around for a long time.

I doubt we'd get that much more for Cooley than we would for Davis. I mean Gonzalez got you a 2nd rounder when he was the BEST in the league, Cooley is top 5, but might not get you a 2nd rounder, and they might pay a little extra to get a player that already knows their system. I dunno, not real strong feelings either way honestly.

Well I'm talking about trading him to anyone, not specifically the Seahawks. I think Davis can be about as good as Cooley starting next year so I'd go with the cheaper and younger player.
BTW, Gonzalez may not have been the best in the league, was 33, and being paid a lot.

Cooley's making a good amount, and he's 29 this year I think. I don't think Davis is going to be in that top 5 category though. I think he'll be good, top half maybe, but if I had to choose right now, I'm taking Cooley every time for the next 4 years. I'd rather have that tough possession guy over the middle in this offense.

I'm not sure I'd classify Cooley as a top 5 TE or a tough possession guy. He's quite good, but I really don't see much of a drop off between him and Davis.
I'd like to do a mini-rebuild, so with that in mind, keep the young guy and get value for the older player that can bring in another good young player.

Yeah I know what you mean, we already have the younger player, why not get 4-5 years younger while you can get some value and not drop off too bad at the position. I just really like Cooley, he was 2nd in the league for TE before he got banged up, and he's tough as $%@* to tackle.

Yeah, well Gates, Clark, and other TE's obviously had their injury issues as well. I like Cooley too, but it's more about getting younger for me.

I want no part of Carson. None. Let someone else take the chance on him. Find a real solution to QB...someway, somehow.

Bengals brass came back today and said that Palmer won't be traded. This is going to get ugly.
