Pick one of these options.

Now, base this off of reality...IE, that we have had seen attendance go down for the last several years, 13 straight years of losing, etc...

This is not a poll about what has happened in the past in terms of well, we should have be winning more in 2007, therefore our payroll could be higher now.

I don't think it should be substantially more than it is now, but there should be enough to allow for the signing of Vlad (~$3M) and Duke (~2M + 2M incentives).

I do believe we will have to increase by at least $5-10M in each of the next three years if we want to maintain the core, assuming they come together.

I abosultely agree if they start winning. If we backslide this year it is probably conceivable that payroll would go down. I don't think that is what will happen as I like the make-up of the team, but it is not beyond the realm of possibilities.

Well if $75-80 M is about where we're at right now, I say it should stay around there for this season because I don't think there are any players remaining that would be worth giving $5 million or more.

But that's not what this is really about.

This is a question about the payroll itself. Not neccassarily looking at it right now but looking at it for the entire offseason.

Where do you believe the payroll should be?..ie, should they have spent more money on VMart or Dunn and adding them in? Should we have spent more money, in general for the 2011 team based on what you believe to be the revenues of this team?

If the payroll goes down, there is no chance for this team to compete.

The Orioles have about $20M coming off the book following 2011 (Lee, Uehara, Izturis, Harris, Gonzalez, Hardy, and Accardo). But assuming no change, there will be a significant increase again to Scott, Guthrie, and Jones, possibly in the range of $10M. Plus another $1M for Markakis and $2.5M for Reynolds. And this is before we discuss any more arbitration cases, such as Pie, Johnson, and Wieters. If the Orioles don't increase the budget then the Orioles have about $5M to play around with (and that is before re-signing any free agents).

If there were someone available that I thought would have made a huge impact on the team and whom would costs significant salary then I would have voted for the opposite end of this spectrum.

That player wasn't available so we are right where we should be.
