Now I've seen other teams', and they decided to make that neck collar panel the same color as the rest of the jersey.

The Orioles for some strange reason decided to make it black...

At least it's a button down. That pullover style from the last few years was a real downgrade over the circa 2005 version.

I like it.

It might grow on me, but the black neck and shoulders just seem out of place right now.

I wonder if they'll come out with a "Baltimore" version like the past couple of years?

I'm actually digging the new look. Besides they are just spring training warm ups. Who cares?

Actually, I like the jerseys and the contrasting panels.

The neck panel might look strange to you because you can see the inside of the back side from the front in this photo. It might look better with someone wearing it.

Yeah they are built for breathing and to be cool in the heat and mugginess down there, not for style.

The first year they started using this cool mesh style I was down for a week in ST and talked to BRob about them, he said he loved them, they felt like they were 10 lbs lighter out there during a game. If you've ever played and worn those MLB style jerseys know what I mean.

I like these jerseys, oh by the way I was watching Sports Unlimited on Fox45 and they showed the lockerroom including Vlad's #27 practice jersey. I know he hasn't officially taken and passed his physical but it was still good to see.

Looks like the Tigers joined the O's in having different color shoulders:

http://shop.mlb.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1757487&cp=1452351.1452748

As did the Rockies (http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11084673&cp=1452350.1452738.1757488) and Mariners (http://http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11084724&cp=1452366.1452889.1757472).

So the O's weren't the only team to try to "spice" things up.

As long as they continue to believe that this version of the script looks good then it doesn't much matter what they slap it on. Looks like were in for at least three more years of the "i" being nearly as tall as the "l". Twenty minutes in Corel and this problem could be fixed. How is it that nobody who has any control over these things can't see how bad this script looks?

It's really unfortunate that the BP hats look so dumb, because they're clearly the most comfortable hat that New Era makes, IMO. Fitted perfectly, breathable material, and pre-curved bill.

TJ Maxx can be a great place to buy O's Gear sometimes. One time I got a Nike warmup jacket for $20. It's black with a single orange stripe going up the outside of each sleeve with the 80's cartoon bird patch on one side of the chest and a small Nike logo on the other side of the. Another time I got black T, with a large graphic of the 1954 Bird's face and no lettering.

Oh, I missed that. No, mine has long sleeves. Must be slightly different. Mine is kinda heavy too. I doubt Buck is wearing the heavy version down there.

The wife got a windbreaker type where the sleeves zip off and short orange sleeves are there, so it can be worn as a t-shirt.

Both jackets combined cost us $65. :thumbsup1:

I find it somewhat incredulous that someone....well, actually not that someone.... would bother to complain about the design of ST uniforms; that others would enhance the conversation by complaining about the hat, too; and then fashion critic posters would add 3 pages (and counting) of comments on them.

FWIW, the uniforms are orange and black and that's all that matters to me. :)

Back in my day it was all wool, all the time. And we had only one color, gray, because we couldn't afford any other colors and their high falutin' ways and we liked it. And fancy hats were only worn by wimmin'.

I find it hard to complain about the design of the uniforms, especially when all of MLB is using the same template for these.

They don't look great, but I don't think they're awful either. I give them a resounding "Meh".

Agreed that once again, the ST/BP jerseys and hats are appallingly ugly. Since I'm not in the market for any practice gear, it doesn't really bother me, unless they trot out on to the Yard for an actual regular season game wearing them.

On a similar note, why can't the club just come out with a true orange alt? I'd be ok with just an orange variation of the current set, but I'd be ecstatic if they went with a gorgeous retro set like this:

I think they look pretty sharp. Might actually spring for one.

Now if we could just ditch the "O's" alternate caps and replace them with the 66-74 cartoon bird cap as our new alternates- we'd have a damn near perfect uniform set IMHO.:thumbsup1:

It would be better if the black panels were orange, especially the top/back. Having them orange would also increase the albedo of the jersey, thus reducing radiation receipt and resulting heat, however minuscule.

I don't really care what they use as warm-up/SP jersey's, just as long as they don't use them as alternates in regular games, like last year. They need to come out with a real orange alternate, to go along with the white and black jerseys.
