When I started this book football season was still in full swing and ended it a little less than a week ago.

A little bit about the author. Tim Layden is a senior writer for SI with a history of writing about college and pro football for 16yrs.

What the book does is break down some of major offensive and defensive plays used by teams from about every level of football. Layden does his best to incorporate a history of how the plays evolved. Coaches and players, current and past are interviewed to tell the stories.

I recommed the book for those that have at least a basic level of football knowledge as some terms might confuse the novice (I am by far no expert and I had to look a few up).

Blood, Sweat and Chalk was published in 2010 so it should still be in your local book store. If not, here is the Amazon.com link: http://www.amazon.com/Blood-Sweat-Chalk-Ultimate-Football/dp/1603200614/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1298056911&sr=1-1
