Wow. Ernie pulled one out in this trade , what steal getting both Crawford and a 1st round pick. Jordan has a pretty good upside , he was a 1st round pick himself and is an athletic freak. Mostly known for dunking on Lebron a few years ago. According to hoopshype.com Bibby is under contract through next season at 6.2 mill. Kirk was also under contract for next year at 8 or 9 mill.I hope Ernie isn't done , I'd like to see one or two of Thornton, Howard, Lewis get moved before the deadline. We could get solid prospects or picks for these pieces, to team with our young core of Wall, NY, Blatche, Mcgee, Crawford,Booker,Seraphin.

Do you watch the games or just look at stats? He puts up the numbers but the number of idiotic decisions he makes and the terrible and lazy attitude he shows is getting to be too much. He is very talented but is not very bright and thinks about himself too much. Wall even said something last night about playing with guys who don't care out there and I'm pretty sure he was hinting at Blatche.

I have watched about 10 games this year , used to be a die hard Wiz fan but ahave become more of a Caps fan the last 5 years or so. I still follow the team tho, like check the box scores now and then. I know Andray was all effort and hustle when he got his first major shot last year, what happened to the dude??

I definitely admire the ability to pull this trade off. I kept on looking for the small print. I mean Hinrich is a decent to good player but worthy of an established vet(maybe on the downfall), 1st rounder, 1st round pick, and....some other guy.

This is a solid albeit minor trade for EG. I give him credit though, especially for getting the draft pick, which is what really makes this deal credible. If you are rebuilding, guys like Hinrich don't help you. Draft picks and young talent like Jordan Crawford MIGHT. Rebuilding is a license to go with unknown, promising quantities.

As for why people want Blatche dealt, it's because he's putting up numbers like that in spite of (or perhaps because of) the fact that he is the single-most unjustifiably selfish basketball player in the NBA today, period.

Dude's shooting 43% from the field, and with seven additional minutes of playing time per game this season, has turned that into less than one basket more in terms of PPG, and just over one rebound.

Ideally the Wizards can catch a team only briefly glossing over his stat lines this summer and get more picks and/or a solid, role playing alternative that understands the team concept.

There's no denying his ability, but he doesn't maximize it. This is a guy people routinely compared to Kevin Garnett, and it ain't close on either end of the floor, nor in terms of leadership. Maybe another coach can get through to him, but I think it's fairly clear Flip hasn't been able to.

I'd bet that he'll never start on a team that wins a playoff series. Any takers?

I like this trade a lot. Hinrich and Armstrong had basically no worth to this team going forward, so anything you can get that could help for the future is a plus. Bibby doesn't really matter in this deal, and he's requested a buyout, so who knows if we ever see him in a Wiz jersey.

Crawford is a nice young player that could be part of the future. You don't really know what you have with him, but he's 22, so the sky is the limit. It's also great to get the draft pick. If Crawford turns out to be decent, and the Wiz can draft someone relevant with the draft pick, this could be a huge steal for them. I'm quick to pile on EG when he does stupid things, so it would only be appropriate for me to give him credit on this one. Well done.

Another thing, the Wizards now have 4 players on the roster who were first round picks in 2010 (Wall, Booker, Seraphin, and Crawford). It's tough to say what you have in 3 of them..Booker has looked good, Seraphin is very raw but considering Flip said at the beginning of the year he likely wouldn't play all season, I've gotta think he's progressed a bit more quickly than originally anticipated. Don't know much about Crawford either, but it seems that Atlanta's fanbase isn't thrilled that he was involved in the deal. I'd like to see the Wizards add another mid first round draft pick, if possible.

Gotta think EG knew (and perhaps Atlanta management pointed it out) that Bibby would be bought out in some capacity at the time of the trade. I know from seeing several analyses of the trade that some thought the lack of cap savings from the Wiz point of view somewhat offset the picking up of Crawford and the first rounder. It seemed somewhat obvious to me that Bibby would be bought out at some point to produce some savings.

In retrospect, not sure how much of a calculated risk/gamble this was by EG, but the concept is very clever IMO. EG identified a player who did not want to be in Washington next year and, presto, that player is suddenly deciding between tearing up a contract (and losing $6M) or playing for the Wiz. Again, brilliant concept. If the league wants to save $, trade players to the Wiz!

Anyway, this trade looks fantastic now - especially if we can lose our way into the #2 pick. Not sure if we will spend the cap $ next year or look to lose again for a top pick in 2012.

A big win of a trade for EG, IMO. Singleton, Crawford, Evans for Heinrich.

It looks good now and should look that much better in a year.
