On Derrek Lee taking batting practice today:
"He feels really good today. It's different from some things in the past. So far so good."

On Lee's game schedule once he starts playing:
"It's not going to be every day. Keep in mind, we can create as many at-bats in the game as we want to, down below or here. I think getting the at-bats is less of a challenge than hopefully the physical part of it. You have to be a little careful with it. He feels so good right now that you have to kind of keep the reins on him a little bit and not do too much too quick. But he's in a good place right now."

Great news...It's hard to imagine that we haven't seen this guy in a game all spring...I think he's going to be a real X Factor for us this season.

I'm definitely becoming less and less worried about DLee. His soreness is pretty much explainable considering the injury last year. He should be fine if he doesn't try to rush coming back.

It's easy to envision a scenario in which he plays 4-5 days per week in April with Luke at 1B and Pie/Reimold in LF. Luckily, we're in a position where we have enough depth to still be productive offensively. If Fox wins the backup catcher job, we'd still have a potent RH lineup without Lee.

By the time somebody else is hobbled, Lee could be at full strength and our offense won't miss a beat. I'm hoping Buck decides to keep Pie & Reimold and finds a way to get them both ABs. With Luke's streakiness and Lee's tender wrist, it shouldn't be a problem at least early on.

He looked solid in BP today. I think he'll be ready to go.

Great News! Derek and Vlad back to back will add some much needed offense to our lineup and should put some fear in a pitcher's mind. The next two weeks should be interesting as Opening Day approaches and AM and Buck contemplate possible additions and deletions to the roster.

I guess we will hear more soon, but I noticed that Lee was shaking his right wrist after a swinging at the second pitch of his first AB against Hamels.

Is what everyone is wondering. Only two ABs.

He must still be on the bench or Roch or JeffZ would have updated by now.

Lee says his wrist is fine. Plan was always only 2 ABs. :)

Thanks. Glad to hear it.

He was still shaking the wrist after that first swing-and-a-miss, though.

They showed him on the bench after he came out. He was sitting there twitching his thumb.

Quotes added to that update. Sounds fine. Sounds like he's going to gut it out regardless now. April 1st coming fast.

Really happy that he'll be ready barring anything unexpected. He's one of my all time favorite non-Orioles.

Just watching him bat in front of Vlad made me giddy. I don't know how long it's been since we had two great hitters like that back to back.
