View Full Version : Will Gregg Be Replaced?

Gregg got the save tonight but it's obvious that there's not a lot of confidence around here in his ability to close games.

I feel that he will pitch better than he has been so far, but he does seem to have a troubling trend of poor control and (almost) home runs.

Do you think that Gregg will be replaced, for a non-injury reason, as the full time closer at some point this year? Gonzalez, Uehara, and Johnson all have closing experience, although none of them have been lights out so far either.

A lot of people here feel that Koji should be the closer, so do you think Buck will ever make that switch? I only made it a yes/no poll, but I'm also curious how long a leash you think Gregg should/would have in terms of blown saves until a change might be made.

It all depends on how many more saves he blows. If he blows two out of every three saves, I'm sure they would feel the need to replace him. I think he's on a long leash.

In my opinion, Koji can't be relied on to close games on a regular basis due to his health. He'd be on the DL faster than a 9th inning Kevin Gregg long ball.

It sure would be nice to have signed Beltre and kept DH right about now...

I think it speaks volumes about your closer when an outfielder has to make a great catch at the wall in order for him to get the save. Gregg needs a reduced role ASAP. I have no faith in him, he screams Mike Gonzalez/Danny Baez part II.

If by nice you mean stupid.

Yea, who wouldn't love exchanging a short-term, relatively low-cost problem for one that might bite us in 2013. And 2014. And 2015. And 2016. And maybe 2017...
