Beats any more "Birther" talk. Plus, I still prefer it over that abomination that was the Michael Jackson memorial service.

I was in Hyde Park watching with 200,000 people today. It was pretty damn cool. It's something completely positive in a news cycle of things that only suck. Haters gonna hate.

I don't care that two completely uninteresting people got married halfway around the world.

I guess that's true. They do deserve the undivided attention of the whole world. After all, they won the birth lottery and were born into royalty. That's a major achievement.

Didn't ask for the attention... they were given it. It's a piece of British history with only ceremonial importance. No one is calling it an achievement. It's just some fun to bring a country together and make some people happy. No harm in it.

I'm sorry that this may offend you, but I couldn't give a dead rat's ass about their wedding, and yet I'm being assaulted by it through every media channel possible. These people are the equivalent to Paris Hilton, the Kardashians and Lindsey Lohan. At least Michael Jackson had to die for me to hear about it every second. This royal wedding crap makes me want to set my ear drums on fire and put them out with an ice pick. I turned off NPR during my commute this morning to get away from this garbage and switched to a local sports radio station. Guess what they were talking about. That's right, the royal wedding. I swear to God I'm going to change my name to Oliver Cromwell if another royal gets married in my lifetime.

A lot of people care about it... no one is making you. And unless they have kids who get married in your lifetime (don't know how old you are) there won't be another royal wedding in your lifetime. This one is important because it's producing a future Queen and involves the future King.

See here's where you're wrong. Whenever I go to any of my favorite media producers, there's something about the royal wedding. The monarchy of England hasn't been relevant for 400 years, and yet I have to unwillingly know about it, unless I want to boycott all broadcast television, all internet "news" sites, and even my favorite Orioles site. What have these people done ever? I got sick and tired of Obama's future dog and I love me some Obama. If a person is famous just for being famous, they should be ashamed. I don't know if you're British or not, but I would 5 to the fiftieth power rather read about some of your brave soldiers than these DNA privileged wastes of space. If they give a country hope by appearing and waving, then you are seriously lacking in the "set your sights a little higher" category. It's not that I wish they were dead any more than I would wish it on Justin Bieber, but I don't want to have to go live in a wooden shack in Northern Montana just so I don't have to hear about them anymore.

Enough, enough. The important stuff: did anyone see Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's hats? Good grief! And Prince Felipe needs to lose the beard. Kate's dress was fabulous, though.

I guess it needs to be asked, why is this important? Why should we care who the King and Queen of England is/is going to be? It doesn't mean anything here and it certainly doesn't mean anything in England. They have no power, they're figureheads (if that).

Not British. I'm a UMD student studying abroad in London. I don't even totally care about it myself. I just appreciate and enjoy the tradition. That's all.

It's important because the British feel it is important. It is a part of their tradition and heritage that they feel strongly about. It obviously has no relevance to any legitimate political action throughout the world.

I think it's obvious that the British (generally) care a great deal about it and I disagree with ledzepp that it doesn't mean anything there. Yes, in terms of government it doesn't mean much, but this is a part of their society no matter how archaic we think it is.

What I think is really annoying people is all of the media attention here in the US. Okay, if E and the morning network shows want to show it, go nuts, but the cable news networks, NPR, a lot of these other outlets have just gone way overboard.

And that's why the Anglo Broadcasting Company, National British Channel, and Celtic Broadcasting System were all covering live.

Oh wait, those aren't their names at all ;)

I'm not even sure Lady Gaga would touch the hat that Beatrice had on. It was basically a brown toilet seat with a ribbon around it.

I mean, clearly other people in the world are interested. Didn't they say that it got something like 2 billion viewers?

They got a lot here because we have people obsessed with TMZ and also it was on every damn channel.

I am happy you go to see it, it was one of those "once in a lifetime" experiences.

79% of Brits — including those who will watch the event — were either "largely indifferent" or "couldn't care less" about the royal wedding.

I loved it. A wonderful day for the romantics of the world. :hearts:

They both are so charismatic. My gosh William looks and has the mannerisms of Princess Diana. IMO...our world is a worse place without her. I do hope her son follows in her footsteps with great humanitarian acts.

The wedding was something I feel the world could use right now with all the devastation that we've seen in the past few months.

Their wedding lifted my spirit. Beautiful, just absolutely beautiful!

Yeah, and the character is Borodin. Since you must not remember it (or didn't see it) Cindy, he shares a scene with Connery where they talk about America, and Borodin talks about how he'd have a house and an RV so he could travel (no papers), and he talks about Montana. Then later (SPOILER!!!) he takes a bullet diving in front of Connery, and his last words are "I would have liked to have seen Montana."
