With Roberts and Lee on the DL, Luke Scott playing like crap, and Felix Pie demonstrating the baseball IQ of a rock, there is absolutely no excuse for not playing the three rookies every day for the foreseeable future. If Andino is going to play, let him spell Hardy every now and then, but he's not significantly better than Adams at 2B anyway. We have got to begin finding out whether any of these guys have a major league future and we're not going to figure that out with them on the bend. And, we're not going to contend by continuing to trot out Pie, Andino, and Scott. We need to accept the fact that we have four or five major leaguers in our lineup (Guerrero, Markakis, Jones, Wieters, and Roberts/Hardy if healthy). This team is built for 4th place at best. Time to see if any of the 3 rooks can be a nugget.

He is a gifted defender and I am confident he can play a better 2B than Roberts given a little time to adjust. Adams is notorious for his poor fielding. According to Adams himself Buck told him he could hit .500 and it wouldn't matter, he would never see the ML unless he improved with the glove. So have you been watching a lot of Adams in the MiL and seen a big improvement?

You're right, I exaggerated, a bit. But, Andino remains better at SS than 2B, as he's spent far more time at that position. And, reports are that Adams defense has improved. My more important point is that we've seen Andino at the ML level for parts of 3 seasons. Same for Pie and Scott. It's time we find out what we might have in the other 3 (while acknowledging that Reimold is not a rookie, but has only one fairly full season of ML experience).

Given Roberts injury issues, I think we should give Andino as much opportunity to get comfortable at 2B as possible. He could be a stop gap until we get a long term replacement. I doubt Adams will ever be good enough with the glove or that much better with the bat to do that.

And, I look at Andino and see an interchangeable part, utility guy. But, neither of us, or the O's brass has any clue what Adams can do. Also, I suspect that if another ML team thought Andino was a starting ML infielder, he'd have been traded by now. Time will tell, I guess.

I agree, there's no excuse for not playing Reimold every day.

Andino reminds me of Jerry Hairston, which ain't bad. He is a good fit for the team, but not in a regular position.
