13 game hitting streak and today he's already got two doubles. I didn't see the first double today but the 2nd one was smoked. If he hit it any higher it would have been a homer.

Not possible. A player who is down for 50 games can't rebound and don't go confusing me with career numbers. We should trade him today while he still has value (:P )

According to ESPN boxscore the second hit was a single with a throwing error. (I'm not able to watch the game currently) Still he does seem to be making better contact. I want to see him taking more walks though as he is way back on those as well.

Trade?!?!?!?!?! I think we need to just put him on waivers

He is clearly more comfortable at the plate and clearly seeing the ball better...but he still hasn't walked since June 15 and only walked 3 times this month.

That's when I will say Nick is really back...He is at his best when he is taking walks and working the count more. He is doing a good job of working the count right now but he is still swinging at pitches he shouldn't too often.

But, he is at the very least, on the right path.

This is ignorant.

Just saw his average is up to .266. That happened fast. He turned on that second double nicely...looks like his old self again.

Crowley is back.

From what I understand, though, Nick will never be a Premium Player again.

Exactly...whatever that is anyway.;)

Crowley is back.

While I think you may have been sarcastic (maybe I'm wrong), I do wonder if maybe... just maybe, there's something to that. He has mentioned before being very comfortable with Crowley and while Crowley had been accessible this season, the fact that he's now always with the team as an actual coach (even if it's bullpen coach) gives him someone he can trust to turn to.

That said, that can't bode well for him if Crowley is his most trusted coach... given that he's no longer full time with us and will go back to his old role once we get a new coach in to take Connor's role.

I'm pretty sure it's a player who performs above an arbitrary line that you change at will to include or exclude whomever you want to, in order to make a point.

I know. I meant your sarcasm was ignorant. I'm one of the posters you're mocking/misrepresenting in that post.

Yeah I thought I read that in Webster's. It had some dude's picture next to it...I guess he coined it or something.

Oops. I was just trying to have a little fun and had no post or poster in particular in mind. We're all fans. We get giddy when players go well and feel hopeless when they don't.

Stick around and when his hot streak ends and he comes back to .280 with decent (but not exceptional) power, I'll soon poke fun at those who want to give 4/44 to JJ Hardy. :P

On the other hand, the extreme negativity around C. Tillman, for example, goes too far in the other direction.

Didn't intend to offend and feel free to poke fun at me whenever possible.

Sorry, that whole thread about Markakis got me defensive. Ignore me.

He's back to his 08' stance. Squatting, hands up and out.

I'm optimistic, that double was smoked.

It looks like Nick has corrected whatever flaw was causing him problems. If he stays hot the rest of the year, his BA might look good, but he likely won't get near his ML average in doubles, HR's, and RBI's. IMO, the loss or Roberts, when coupled with Nick's hitting funk during the first 1/3 of the season, are the major reasons the Orioles haven't been able to maintain at least a .500 W/L average. Now, they are starting to fade, albeit much slower than in years past, but by the trade deadline, the Orioles should be out of contention far enough that MacPhail will be looking to make some trades.
