ESPN rumors has what I took as a smart comment about Bowen starting 11 games and getting 5.5 sacks in the past 5 years.
ESPN is also saying that the Skins had a handshake deal with Cullen Jenkins, but backed out and signed Bowen.
Any idea what might've happened?

It wasn't a super cheap deal so I'm wondering if it doesn't have something to do with NT and people wanting to play it or not. Maybe they decided Cofield was an End and not a NT and needed someone that could play it. Maybe Jenkins upped his asking price. I really have NO CLUE what happened here, but this guy doesn't really look like he's worth the money he got. I hope we get an explanation on this one soon.
It was also stated that this guy could be one of the real free agent sleepers and the Cowboys wanted to keep him.

There have been a couple moves this year where I go....ooook not bad, but this Chester signing has me a bit worried. Seems like a lot of money to throw at a guy viewed as a backup. I want to trust Mike knows a guy that will fit in his line scheme, but there were a lot of talented G still out there.

Shanny likes his athleticism a lot. Apparently he's really quick for an OL, and will fit very well in his scheme. The move makes sense to me.
As for Bowen. He looked like a good pass rusher in limited playing time. I'm fine with going for the younger guy instead of the "past his prime" guy we usually end up with.

5 sacks in 63 games seems like a good pass rusher? That was actually my biggest problem. I know he was a part time player but he only had 44 tackles in that time too. I just hope there is something going on I don't see, but I feel like Golston was similar and better.

I don't know anything about him...just relaying analysis I heard. Sounds like he played limited snaps, showed promise, etc... Golston never impressed me, and this guy was behind some quality DL depth in Dallas. So, who knows. So far, I like what they've done in FA (even if this guy is a reach).

Yeah he and Chester are the two that I'm a little unsure about. I just don't really know what to expect for that kind of money you know. From the interview I read it said Dallas was in it to resign him and then the Skins just raised the money and blew them out. I worry that it might have been more Snyder trying to stick it to Jerry.

I'd hate to be Jenkins' agent right about now.
