Shorebirds announce that OF/IF Jacob Julius added from Frederick.
Mr. Nice Guy won the Orioles Minor League Community Service Award when he was with the Shorebirds in 2009. He had been playing RF and 1B for Frederick, showing occasional spurts of power, but his avg has been low. Perhaps a fresh start back at Delmarva will be good medicine for Jake.
According to Bret Lasky of the Shorebirds, Julius played in 57 games played in ’09, he batted .228 with two homers and 12 RBIs. The 33rd round selection in 2007 was batting .170 in 77 games for the Frederick Keys this season. The 25-year old had a big season for the Keys in 2010 when he batted .285 with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs.
