Yes, I am quoting myself! But I know you all are on pins and needles for this one :)
Definitely Survivor Series 1993. The opening bout was supposed to feature Razor Ramon, Mr. Perfect, the 1-2-3 Kid and Marty Jannetty vs. IRS, Diesel, Rick Martel and Adam Bomb.
However, Razor got on the mic and said that Perfect "tagged out before the match started", but that his new partner had "as much machismo as me". Then you heard the crescendo of Savage's music begin, and the Macho Man made a triumphant return back to in-ring action. The crowd went nuts, and so did a 12 year-old me.

Ah I loved Adam Bomb/Wrath. Another guy that just completely buried in WCW. He was never big in WWF but he had a role and was hovering around the main event at times. In WCW he was Saturday Night fodder.

I LOVED Adam Bomb (probably had something to do with 'Adam' being in there). It's a real shame he didn't experience more success in his career.

Awesome!
Even with the goofy gimmicks, how cool were some of those characters? IRS' 10-second speech at the beginning of the match seemed more effective than 95% of the promos we see today.

Good heaven above he looks horrible. It's a shame he can't pick his women properly and has to keep wrestling to pay his alimony and everything else, because having unfortunately seen a few TNA clips with him in it, it's really sad and pathetic to see him still out there.

I have read a few "honest" pieces about his life, and my god. I'd rather be hit with a sledgehammer and thrown off a turnbuckle every week then deal with that. Terrible choices.

Catching onto this thread WAYYYY late, since I've just now scrolled this far down on the forum index.
Brodus as Funkasaurus? It either has to be a rib or a punishment. I know he got some heat for posting a tweet about debuting and destroying Morrison (before he was released.)
The Jericho segments are gold, he's just trolling the fans. Basically showing them that they're sheep and he can get them to react however he wants. I also think you guys are looking too much into the 1-2-12 videos with the "she" and etc. I think those videos were just set up to troll the fans also.

Maybe they are setting up Brodus for Punk to come out and blast Big John for putting him in some STUPID gimmick, and then Clay will agree and join up with Punk in his fighting the man mission.

Well, here are Ole Anderson's thoughts. I don't think this reaction is too surprising..
"Vince McMahon hates my guts, and I don’t like him," Anderson said. "So that’s all there is to it."
Anderson continued, "To be a part of that, anyone with a brain knows who the first Four Horsemen were. It was me and Arn and Ric and Tully Blanchard, and J.J. Dillon was the manager. So if they don’t know that, they don’t know anything about wrestling anyway. So what’s the difference? Vince McMahon is never going to call me. I hate his guts just like he hates mine. It’s no big deal."

Ole has bad mouthed Vince, Flair, and Tully for the past couple decades. Now he is wining that he's not included, saying he doesn't care, when clearly he does. Ole is nothing but a cranky old man, and Vince won't give him the time of day.

Perez Hilton? This is really the best that the people at WWE can do? And I know most people don't care that the Diva's for the most part can't wrestle or put on a match without about a thousand botches, but when the matches don't even last five minutes was it really worth the time in the first place? Just have Kelly Kelly or Eve or whoever come out and strip, since that's essentially what they're relegated to. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind that, but I'd also like to see some real attempt at wrestling, and if Beth or Natalya aren't out there, then I know there's a good chance it won't be happening.

Yeah, it really is just a waste of time. I don't care about Perez Hilton really. Since all he was doing was that little bit, whatever. He gets ridiculous internet traffic, so I'm sure he might have brought a couple more fans, so whatever. But the divas stuff is just annoying.
And R Truth just had a hilarious comment. He showed a picture that had Pinnocio and made his nose grow. Truth says, "And I don't even know if that's PG!"

The Truth segment was actually really amusing. I'm not a fan of him in general, but that Disneyland segment fit well, and the Pinocchio one was quite funny.

Very interesting show tonight.
Likes:
1. Mick Foley's segments. They were quick and to the point, and he added to the story being out there (unlike Nash's recent run.) The idea of Mick in the Rumble got some pops, and then he took Johnny Ace's fury at the end. Could be something to this if they keep his role minimal. I could see Foley vs Dolph at Mania.
2. New Tag Team champs. I am assuming Bourne failed another drug test, and if so, good riddance, as I don't like him anyway. In any event, it's good to see some new blood with the tag straps, and Rosa can stay on my screen as much as she wants.
3. Obviously Punk's segment at the end was awesome. He brought the goods like he hasn't done since the summer. Great stuff. And to top it off, it led to Johnny Ace FINALLY snapping. Johnny has become a good heel for the company, as the fans just love to boo the guy, and now he may finally be taking off the gloves to deal with Punk.
4. Jericho. Week one was awkward. By week 2 you knew where this was going. Week 3 we get his first match, and his shenanigans were awesome. I thought he might turn on Punk last night, but this slow burn is much better. Plus turning on Punk would have taken attention away from Punk vs Dolph at the Rumble. I'm fairly sure Jericho is going to be involved with Johnny Ace, but in the meantime, this is some fun antics to get the crowd to start hating on him. (and yet, he gets the biggest pops of the night with his pandering to the crowd. Unreal.) THIS, SportsGuy, is why I love Jericho. He brings it like not many others can in the business.
5. John Cena finally starting to embrace the hate. Maybe this storyline with Kane will have a meaningful impact after all?
6. Jack Swaggar, your Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew United States Champion. Glad to see Jack back on top. After his World Title run they seemed to forget about him, so its good to see he has regained the faith of the company.
7. Michael Cole. Since the start of the new year, he has toned down his act considerably, and is now much easier to listen to. I hope he stays this way and doesn't revert back to the overbearing guy who takes away from the product.
8. Heel Daniel Bryan. I did not like this guy as the underdog face, but he is great as a jerk. This slow turn seems to be working, and I'm sure on Friday we'll see him weasel out another win vs Mark Henry this time. Which could just lead to a Henry face turn?
9. The Funkasauraus. I am really digging Brodus Clay. At first I was shocked at what creative had done to him, but its grown on me quickly. And Clay himself seems to be digging the role. Somebody Call My Momma, cause I like me some Brodus Clay!
Dislikes:
1. Perez Hilton. Waste of my time. (Though its ALWAYS good to see Kelly and the Bellas.)
2. Swaggar gets killed by Cena. For all the good I said above, then they go and have the new US Champ get crushed by Super Cena. I hate John Cena.
3. Although it took a swing in a good direction, I am sick of the good guy vs heel authority figure. Its been done to death, and as much as I love Punk, Punk is no Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Johnny Ace can't hold Vinnie Mac's jock!
Great show last night, in my opinion.

I'm glad I'm not alone! I was going to post something just like this today. First match I was thinking WTF, second match I thought.. hmm.., and last night, at about 10:00, I was thinking, 'Man, I hope they give Brodus a match tonight'. I think he sells the character perfectly. I'd like to see him have an actual match, but I'm starting to like him!
I thought it was a great show. Cena snapping was awesome. Like I said earlier, the Perez Hilton thing was stupid, but it was such a small part of the show, I can't get too worked up over it.
I think Truth and Miz's feud is setting up nicely. I wish they had been together longer, another rushed WWE move, but I suppose it was caused by Truth's suspension. Truth is a guy that has grown on me quite a bit over the last year. The heel turn was perfect for him, as I think he now has some legitimacy as a face. I think he and Miz could have a great match.
Are we going to get Swagger vs Barrett at Rumble? If so, could be another excellent match.
Again, agree with Dip on the Jericho thing. Definitely starting to work for me.
All in all, I think WWE is doing very well right now. Rumble has the chance to be very good. Last year there were only 3 matches prior to the Rumble itself; WWE Championship, Heavyweight Championship, and Divas Championship. I guess if they go by that same formula, the only matches we would get would be Punk vs Dolph and Bryan vs Show. And whatever annoying match they want to give us for the ladies. I guess maybe the Miz and Truth feud lasts longer?

Raw was OK overall. Looks like Cena might "embrace the Hate." Interesting to see where Ryder goes but its nice to have Swagger with the Belt.
I continued to be bored to tears over Daniel Bryan. Ugh. Why even have wrestlers have "girlfriends" it just sounds weird. Anyway, I still think his match will be good at RR.
The Jericho thing is pretty funny at this point. It almost looks like they brought him in too early so they are just dragging this out until after the Rumble so he can feud with whoever (Punk I suppose).
The Ziggler Punk match is going to be phenomenal, I hope they let it go long.

Ziggler vs Punk would make for an incredible iron man match. I think Ziggler is hands down the best in ring guy they have right now, and he's very good on the mic. I think Punk is hands down the best on the mic and very good in the ring as well. I tend to think they're 1 and 2 in both those categories, just alternating who's 1 and who's 2.

I mentioned this about Jericho before. He has been gone long enough that Vince knew the fans were gonna cheer him. So they came up with an original story (imagine that) where he comes in as a face, presumably, soaking in the cheers of the fans. He'll let this go on just long enough before he berates them as the sheep that they are, and then heel Jericho joins up with Johnny Ace and moves right into his Mania program with Punk. Had they had Jericho return at the Rumble or after, then this storyline would have been too rushed and he would have had to immediately turn face to heel. This way is working much better. Also, Taker will be returning soon to begin his Mania program, and you couldn't have both these legends return too soon.

This is what I wanted, I wish that Ziggler could pick it up (or Punk retains) and this leads to an iron man match. The WWE really lacks true stars today, of their young core almost all are either bad on the mic or bad in the ring. Orton is young but hes been around. Rhodes is working on it but he is not as over as Ziggler. Ziggler is the real deal. This would really cement him in this status. I hope there is a way for Jericho not to interfere and to go on some other route. Jericho's time has come and gone, we've seen him go against Punk, I don't see anything new that can come of Jericho feuding with Punk. But as most of us think, I'm sure he interferes in the match and we see it again.
It's a shame. I guess this means that Ziggler gets the belt but I am not sure who he will face at WM. Cena won't have the belt as he is facing the Rock, and Punk will likely be feuding with Jericho. I just hope they don't give him a 2 week title run and crush him with a star from yesteryear.

Ugh, I just read that there are rumors of a Foley Ziggler match at WM. What a waste. Foley has put a ton of guys over, and he had a great series with edge leading up to Mania, but I don't think he has it now and I'm not sure how that would help Ziggler, even if hes carrying the belt.
Well maybe it would be ok. Thoughts?

I see Punk vs Jericho being a title match. So with all the other "main eventers" tied up, the options become throwing Zigs in some waste of a match on the undercard, or, throw him in there with a legend and let him get another notch under his belt. By the summer, we'll see Dolph in the main event title feud leading into SummerSlam, in my opinion.

Dolph has a long career ahead of him, no need to hotshot the title on him now. While he's been around a while, Jericho is fairly young, and always changes up his personna so he doesn't get stale. I don't know what the plan is long term, but I can guarantee you he didn't return just to prance around the ring soaking in the cheers.

What will be funny is if the fans catch on to what they are trying to do, and instead of booing when he walks out, start cheering louder. I love when the crowd ruins story lines because they don't fall for the trick. Like Rock/Hogan and then Hogan having to turn face.

I always loved when they would work so hard to make someone a heel (Hogan, Flair, Rock, Austin, whoever) and it just wouldn't work. Happening with Kane now as well but on a smaller scale.
But the Rock/Hogan match was amazing for this.
This could happen by accident with Jericho, if his program is with someone other than Punk. If he attacks Punk he gets booed, if he goes after another person they might keep cheering him regardless of what he says or does. It won't be as big as Hogan and those but it will be interesting.

Here is one of the things I don't like about the WWE...consistency. Jericho was out of action (storyline wise) because Orton punted him in the head. Should Jericho be back to go after Orton? Maybe he'll toss him from the Rumble or something, who knows, but they better not just drop that story.
Of course, Kane was put out by Henry and he didn't seem to care, so I guess its a moot point. :rolleyestf:

Rarely do they ever pick up feuds (in the past 5 or so years) when a guy is injured or has time off. I love when a guy is taken out by someone and is a face/heel, is gone for a bit and comes back as the opposite heel/face and that feud never happened.
Maybe Jericho can be the anonymous GM that never was announced. :D

Yeah, I think the Rock/Hogan one stands out to me because Rocky couldn't help but laugh during it live one time. They were supposed to be all over Hogan and cheer the Rock, but you could tell the crowd was split. Half chanted Rock-y and then the other half would respond Ho-gan. It was awesome on TV, but then the camera caught Hogan and Rock both smile at each other and roll their eyes a bit like "oh man, now what??"
Bringing guys back from long breaks to be heels never works well. They have to come back unannounced and screw someone popular for that to work. The big build/re-debut thing always draws cheers. That's what makes me think this is something else with Jericho...like it's something bigger and this is just how they are launching the storyline. If it's just some simple, oh you guys cheer me, you are idiots thing, that'd be cliche'.

I think they should just let Jericho be a face. If he feuds with Punk, some people are going to stop liking him any way.
I think with established wrestlers, "face" and "heel" don't really need to exist. I think those are useful tools for establishing younger guys and to ultimately give a structure to most matches, but some of the most classic matches have been where the line was very blurry between face and heel (Rock vs Hogan, Rock vs Austin, Warrior vs Hogan as a few examples).
I'll be interested to see when Jericho does actually compete in ring. I know there's going to be a big buildup, and I'm already fiending for some Y2J in the ring, but it should be a good payoff when it does happen. I'm definitely getting the Rumble, as I think it has the makings to be phenomenal. The Rumble match itself is always excellent, Punk and Ziggler will be great, and Cena vs Kane should be good too. I'm genuinely looking forward to getting it.

This is almost the model TNA is using...and honestly it's pretty terrible. They switch guys from being "good" to "bad" almost week to week. You can't just not watch 2 weeks and turn it on because you have NO IDEA who to cheer for. It's a little too all over the place to be any good.

Well, I guess let me be more specific. Guys who are basically "legends". The Rock, Stone Cold, Jericho, Undertaker, HHH, HBK, etc. I agree about TNA's product, not to get into another discussion. I think they have a lot going for them, just not a whole lot of brains at the top. But that's neither here nor there.
I just don't think, with Jericho for example, there's any need for him to be either. I think those guys transcend the roles of heel and face. I dunno. I just don't think wrestling is as black and white as it used to be.

Jericho should enter the Rumble at #1, never enter the ring, and just run around riling up the fans the whole match.

Surprised no one has commented on RAW yet? Were we all still in too much shock and grief from the game Sunday?
I'll get it started.
1. I hate John Cena in every way imaginable. I hate that he makes jokes when he should be serious. I hate that he cuts off a great Punk promo and essentially pulls the "the star is here now" shtick. I hated his stupid "I am angry face" after Eve busted his balls. I hate his matches where he is SuperMan and can't be hurt. I hate when he is supposedly hurt how he comes back an hour later like nothing was ever wrong. I just can't stand the guy. He needs a character change quick, because he is stale and boring.
2. Brodus Clay has become one of my favorites in less than a month. Amazing. Somebody call MY momma cause I love this guy.
3. Jericho continues to amaze. He brings back the amazingly expensive Jerichotron 2000, or whatever its called. He has the crowd electric by holding a friggin t-shirt gun. The guy has them eating out of the palm of his hand, and had yet to even talk. Then, he surprises everyone by finally breaking his silence, only to tell us this Sunday will be the end of the world as we know it. I LOVE it. They are not ignoring the videos that led to his return. He makes one simple statement and the world is abuzz again. SG, THIS is why I love Jericho. Too many wrestlers think they have to talk for 20 minutes to explain everything they do and get the crowd to react. This is an example of the complete opposite being true. Kinda like when Trips and Taker first squared off last year in January...no words needed, and it was electric. Which leads to...
4. Triple H returns to RAW next week to "evaluate" Johnny L. This one story is going to lead to so many things, in my belief. One, I bet we end up with a Johnny L vs somebody, probably Mick Foley, Mania match to determine who is the GM of RAW. (I know, dumb way to decide the GM, but still.) I also believe (hope) that this effectively ends the Punk vs Johnny L storyline in favor of Jericho jumping in and being the number 1 contender. And finally, I think with Trips being back Monday, the Dead Man won't be long to follow.
5. Punk. The guy has been gold on the microphone and in the ring. I hate for Dolph to be lost in the shuffle, but somehow they need to transition to Punk vs Jericho. One way to do this is to turn Swaggar face and have him cost Dolph the match, leading to them feuding. But that's a step back for Dolph. I think more realistically Dolph faces Foley at Mania to keep him hot and lead to a summer run in the main event.
6. I love Kane destroying Zack. Kane as a monster is awesome. I hope to God they don't bury him to Cena at the Rumble.
Rumble predictions anyone?
I'm going with Orton winning the Rumble.
Bryan surviving the cage match.
Punk retaining.
and Cena goes full heel by destroying Kane at his own game.
Mania match predicitons:
Main Event: Cena vs Rock (confirmed)
WWE Championship: Punk vs Jericho
World Heavyweight Championship: Bryan vs Orton
Triple H vs Undertaker part 3
Dolph Ziggler (with Johnny L) vs Mick Foley
Big Show vs Shaq
Sheamus vs Barrett
Raw vs Smackdown: Brodus Clay vs Mark Henry
US Title: Swaggar vs Zack Ryder
IC Title: Rhodes vs Golddust
Maybe a tag title of womens match as well.

As usual, pretty much agree with everything you say. How great of a Mania card would that be?
I'm definitely getting the rumble this Sunday. I think they've put together an excellent card and have a lot of exciting things going on. I think you have a lot of guys that could legitimately win the Rumble match. Orton, Jericho, Barrett, Sheamus come to mind first, but there could be others.
Really hope Cena makes the heel turn. It's building up, and also, if he destroys Kane, I don't think it will make Kane look weak, because he can say he got Cena to "embrace the hate". Even if he gets his ass kicked, it's still a "win" overall.
I'm very excited about the WWE right now. I know we've all been critical over the past year or so, but I'm impressed with what they've done. I honestly think they have the future face of the company in Ziggler. Eventually (way down the road) he's going to make a face turn and that arrogance and wit will be excellent. I think the slow heel turn for Daniel Bryan has been incrediblely well done. Hell, I'm even starting to like Johnny L as a heel. Kane is a monster, Mark Henry is a monster, those are two guys that I had zero interest in a year ago. Ryder is super over, Swagger has a bit of momentum and relevance. Cody Rhodes is under utilized, but he's been a solid IC champion and has the longest reign with that belt since 07. I even think they've made Big Show interesting again.
And Brodus Clay is awesome. "Should I get him??" Love him!
Somebody call my momma because I'm a big time WWE mark right now!

Raw was great. Brodus is very entertaining. R Truth is killer and this is a good way to keep the Miz relevant.
I am curious to see what happens to Ryder, the broken back thing SHOULD keep him out until May or even June possibly but they might bring him back and ignore the fake injury. My biggest question is do they keep him on screen despite the "injury" or do they bring him back with a different gimmick. This might be the case where they like his talent but not the gimmick and he comes back re-worked.
I am very interested to see what happens at the rumble. Punk Ziggler will be a great match, whatever happens with Jericho will be great and I am dying to see what happens with Cena. I really don't know who wins the rumble. Originally I know the plans were Orton, but who knows now with his injury. I would love if it is Punk, even though he has the World Title Match, it would give him an extra safeguard against Johnny Ace in the title match. The gimmick this year where all superstars are eligible will definitely make things interesting.

I just read a VERY interesting rumor/idea that supposedly is gaining some steam.
Supposedly, the final two people in the ring, lets say Barrett and Orton for poops and giggles, eliminate each other BEFORE #30 is introduced. #30 then waltzes to the ring and wins the Rumble by doing absolutely nothing. And who has been back for a month and done absolutely nothing? Chris Jericho Baby! That would be unique, different, a never before seen finish, and would go along with the storyline of Jericho's return thus far.
I'm all for it.

I had wondered recently whether or not Taker could return at Rumble, specifically if HHH is in it. That probably wouldn't happen since HHH has only wrestled one or two matches since becoming "COO," and he's supposed to be on Raw the next night to deal with JL. But, watching some old Rumble matches that was always one of the best parts of the match when someone is in the ring and somebody unexpected either returns, or someone they've been feuding with starts coming down the ramp and you know it's go time, a la Austin & Hart in '97, or Austin and HHH in '02. I guess I'm of the belief that if Taker returns for Mania, and it really will be against HHH, it has to be a big return in front of a good crowd, not wasted on the funeral goers that show up at Raw.

They are really hyping the "every WWE superstar is eligible" thing this year. I would assume that's the case EVERY year, so why stress it unless there is going to be some BIG surprise return like that? That would be awesome if Taker returned for the Rumble, but with his health concerns of late, I wonder if they would risk him being "thrown" over the top rope????

BEcause normally, the guys who are the champs, don't participate in the rumble.
Tells me that a guy like Cm Punk could be in the rumble.
Also, I would expect Kane and Cena to be in it as well.
I think either Jericho or Barrett will win the rumble.

First match, the Triple Threat cage match was solid. Bryan retained. Mark Henry, I assume because he's somewhat injured, was barely involved. A bit quicker of a match than I thought it should have been.
And now, we get an 8 diva tag match. Waste..of..time.

I think it was quicker because you will see Show and Henry in the Rumble.
Cena and Kane went to a predictable double count out...Fight went backstage..Kane beat him up, smacking him with a chair 4 times. Kane brought Ryder out of his dressing room, wheeled him out to the ring and gave him a tombstone. Cena came back out and Kane chokeslammed him.

Enjoyed the Kane/Cena match. It ended in a double count out and then they ended up going to the back, with Kane beating the hell out of Cena. Kane then went and got Ryder and choked him out. He wheeled him out to the ring and gave him a tombstone in front of Eve. Then Cena came running back out and and Kane put him in the ground too.
The double count out kind of sucked, but Kane comes away looking like an absolute monster from all of this.

Found that interesting.
Also...Stephanie IS still with the company and is the person you can blame for all these terrible storylines, she's the EVP of creative and makes almost $700k a year. That's crazy she can work from home and make almost a mil per year.

Not trying to be rude, but this is common knowledge that most wrestling fans know.
As for the Rumble, I didn't see it, but reading the report, it appears Dolph vs Punk brought the goods, as expected.
I'm a big Sheamus fan, but that was an unexpected win. I am confused where they go with this? Orton vs Bryan would have been a good Mania title match, but Sheamus vs Bryan just sounds like a one sided squash. The title match at Mania shouldn't be a weasel Bryan vs a dominant Sheamus, it needs to be a back and forth good match. The only other option is to turn Orton heel, have him win the belt at Elimination Chamber, and go Orton vs Sheamus, but I think its too soon to turn Orton, and that would absolutely bury Bryan.
On the other side, I would guess pretty soon Jericho needs to start a program with Punk, but it sounds like he's still getting a face reaction (can anyone who watched the Rumbhle confirm this?) They need to finally have him speak and set up what the "end of the world as we know it" means, and who exactly is his lady friend. I'm still hoping its Steph (I want her ion TV sooooooo bad). I guess we could see Trips fire Johnny and side with Punk, and then Steph comes back to side with Jericho, leading to a SummerSlam feud between Jericho and Trips down the road, while Punk and Dolph steal the summer title spotlight?
As for the "surprises," I think Road Dogg is a great one, and Kharma was a HUGE surprise, and they let her dominate for some time. Khali returning was also unexpected. I would have liked to see Christian, but I guess he wasn't ready to go sailing over the top rope yet. And the Cobra vs Mr. Socko sounds like pure comedy gold!
I also just read that the Money in the Bank PPV has been canceled, so I guess we can expect a MITB Ladder Match at Mania, which is where I think it belongs.
So, anyone have any ideas on where they are going with Sheamus at Mania, and how they get Punk vs Jericho storyline going? Maybe we have Jericho win the World Title at Elimination Chamber, and he wrestles Sheamus at Mania while Punk stays with Dolph????

Fixed that for you. I've heard people still begging for Shane recently, so I figured they didn't. And Steph even I knew what she did, but I didn't know they were paying her 700k to stay at home with the babies (which is why Vince is also off TV by the way, and why you haven't seen them show back up yet, because the youngest is only like a year and a half, so for all the hoping and praying she comes back to tv, keep in mind the reason they stepped off tv in the first place and don't go expecting to see them leave a 5 year old, 3 year old and 1.5 year old at home why they go touring the country to be on live tv shows and tapings.)

Vince and Steph (and Trips for that matter) are at ALL televised shows, running things from the back. There is a story about Steph in one of the recent Entertainment Weekly magazines.

A friend of mine from college lives around the corner from them, no she's not ;) I mean, just pause the wrestling for a second, do you think anyone would leave three kids that small at home and travel THAT much? No matter if they are a wrestler, production assistant or CEO? Also, if you go back and look at a lot of the character "injuries" when the big guys take time off, you'll see that a bunch of them coincide with them having kids. That's one of the big perks and beliefs they have in the company (I found it when I was studying their business plan in college) that for new babies they will give time off to anyone who would like it(technically they have to anyway, FMLA and all). Depends on where they are though, if you are struggling to get a foot hold and finally get your big break and push you might be less likely to take the time off for a new kid as someone that is already established though.

I would say overall I was a bit disappointed. That was probably a given, since I had pretty much built this PPV up in my head and I'm sure my expectations were nearly impossible to live up to.
I thought the World Heavyweight Title match was too quick and disappointing. I'm glad Bryan retained, but Mark Henry was completely non existent in this match. I liked the finish, but again, I thought the action was very minimal in this match and then all of a sudden it was over.
I jokingly said to my friend the other day, "The only way they could ruin this card is throwing some stupid divas match in". Sure enough, we got an 8 diva tag match. The heterosexual male in me tried to enjoy 8 beautiful ladies in the ring prancing about, but it's just a waste of time. The match was actually better than I expected, but still, a waste of my time.
The Cena/Kane match was good, albeit predictable. The double countout sucked, but overall I liked Kane leaving Ryder and Cena laying in the ring. I just don't know where they go from here. Kane is still a monster, Cena hasn't embraced the hate, good did not triumph over evil..it was basically the same thing that's been happening on Raw, but we got a match first. I'm assuming there will be more to come here.
I was glad we got both a Brodus Clay and Drew McIntyre showing, although I was hoping for them in the Rumble. Still loving Brodus, but would love to see him have a real match. McIntyre also continues to get buried with the squash match. Also, I get that it's a squash..but does every match have to be the same exact sequence? Just don't go to the well one too many times WWE; Brodus is building some momentum, give him a real program soon.
The Punk/Ziggler match was great as expected. Those two are simply the best in ring talent in the company right now. Johnny L ultimately didn't screw Punk, although Punk had Ziggler beat 3 times and JL didn't do anything to help as the outside official. I'll be interested to see how Triple H handles the evaluation tonight.
I thought the Rumble was pretty good, although nothing INCREDIBLE. Kofi's handstand to keep himself from being eliminated was pretty cool. I thought Road Dogg was awesome and super entertaining. Considering that I think Billy Gunn can still bring it, these guys could definitely do well back in the WWE. Kharma's return was cool, I suppose. If we're going to be force fed Diva matches, might as well have her in the picture. I thought the end was very good, as Jericho and Sheamus went back and forth for a few minutes, often both teetering on the brink of defeat. In the end, Sheamus delivered a huge Brogue kick to eliminate Jericho and move on. The fan in me was hoping for Jericho to win, but the Rumble victory does much more for Sheamus' career than Jericho's.
All in all, I'd give the event a C+. Had they not had the divas match and instead used that time to give us more in the Heavyweight Championship or Cena/Kane match, or the Brodus Clay match, it might have been up to a B. I also thought with them stressing that "anyone could enter", they might do a bit more with that. I know Show and Ziggler were in it, but I think they could have cut a few people out to have more interesting guys. Kane, Henry, Cena, McIntyre, Brodus should have all been in it. And under no circumstances should Cole have been in the match. Also, a Randy Orton return could have been huge, but they wasted that at Smackdown. Was hoping for Christian maybe, and I always hold out hope that Taker will get involved in some capacity. I think overall I was just a little disappointed because there were so many unique and surprising things that could have happened and none of them really did. Solid show overall, just didn't quite live up to the hype that I had put on it.

The reason for the Heavyweight title match being so short was that Henry was working with a very bad knee injury, and the lingering groin injury. They would have been better off removing him and just had Bryan vs Show.
I like Clay's character a lot, but if they don't put in a program pronto, he is going to get old very quickly.
Its time to start moving story lines along. What is Jericho's agenda for returning? Who does Johnny L keep texting all the time. Who is Sheamus gonna face for the title? What the hell is up with Cena? And who in the blue hell is the anonymous RAW General Manager? All of their stories are just moving along too slowly. Its time to move some things along, and tonight should be a good night to start.
Trips is back, so we should see some movement in the Johnny L story.
Jericho should finally start talking, laying claim to he being the greatest in the world at what he does.
With Trips around, Taker won't be far behind.
What is Orton gonna do since he didn't win the Rumble?
How much longer can Bryan avoid losing the title.
This should all start moving along tonight.

That seems to be how they resolve most storylines anymore, so it probably wouldn't be too surprising.
And yeah, they really need to get some things resolved tonight on Raw. I was expecting some of those things to happen at the Rumble, but they didn't. WWE seems to struggle with finding that balance between a storyline that is super rushed and one that drags on with little to no changes or advancing.

I'm thinking Kane keeps torturing Cena and Ryder and Taker comes out to save the day...then they can have Cena turn complete heel by costing Taker his perfect record at WM and complaining he didn't need anyone to save his day. Then you do the Cena/Rock match AFTER that and it'll be boos for days.

One of my favorite Tony Schiavone moments:
Towards the end of WCW, they were promoting the "Hardcore Division" pretty strong, where "hardcore" basically mean you could use anything as a weapon.
I'm not going to pretend to remember who the participants were in this match, but it was a hardcore match that went to the back and one of wrestlers pulled out a cookie sheet. And Schiavone, in all seriousness, said, "That's not just a cookie sheet - that's an INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH cookie sheet."

okay, Raw thoughts:
1. I HATE when they do the "Na Na hey hey hey goodbye" song. Then, Punk kept it up over and over. I couldn't wait for it to end. Punk and Johnny' L's promo was then pretty boring until Bryan showed up, and he was excellent. I love his new character as a heel. Then Sheamus added some more fun to the mix. But the Johnny vs Punk storyline has far surpassed its fun. Time to move along.
2. Speaking of Punk, I am finding more and more that I like him better as a heel. His babyface persona is too "playing to the fans" rather than just being a badass who the fans cheer. That said, I can easily see him playing the clean and sober heel to Stone Cold's beer drinking ass kicker at next year's Mania. Just saying.
3. Two good matches in Orton vs Dolph and Bryan vs Punk. I'm still curious to see how they write Orton into Mania, as it seems he is the odd man out now.
4. Jericho finally shows his colors. Good start to the feud. Now next week we can get his explanation.
5. Once again Cena bores me to death, but I absolutely am loving Kane right now. Its pretty obvious to me that after Elimination Chamber, Kane will have achieved his goal of making Cena embrace the hate, leading to a heel Cena at Mania. But, I don't see him staying heel after the Mania match has come and gone. As for Kane, I think he'll have a Mania program with Zack Ryder, where Zack finally stands up for himself and defeats the monster that has stalked him for 3 months leading up to the event.
6. Line of the night: as Johnny L talks about how beautiful Regal's girls are, Regal says "I keep them locked in the attic."
7. I liked Alcatraz when it first came on, but after a few weeks, its starting to bore me due to being essentially the same thing week after week. I can say the same thing about Brodus Clay. I have a feeling they are intentionally throwing this dancing down our throats so that at some point he loses his mind and goes monster on some poor soul.
8. Mike Tyson in the WWE Hall of Fame. Well deserved for the Celebrity Wing, whatever the hell that even means.
9. I absolutely love fun loving, happy go lucky, Triple H. But then how he instantly changes to the serious cerebral assassin role as soon as he's confronted by Taker was awesome. That entire segment was gold. I thought the "re-enactment" of last year's confrontation was getting a bit long and stale, but then Trips pats Taker on the back and walks off. Excellent story telling. Was the pat to mean, "hey big fella, I got nothing left to prove to you" or was it "I can pat the Dead Man on his back cause I don't fear you?" Interesting.
So after last night, here's what we know (or can assume) at the moment...
Cena vs Rock
Trips vs Taker
Punk vs Jericho
World Champion vs Sheamus (I think Orton may be Champ going into this match)
Kane vs Ryder
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
I might have to actually buy this thing.

I think Kane vs Ryder can be better than it looks on paper, especially if they let Ryder drop the goofiness and just be out for revenge. The story of Kane destroying Ryder every week definitely seems to indicate a payoff match between the two coming up, and unless they have Ryder go back after the US Title, he's got to face Kane at some point.

I read Cena vs Kane ends at EC. Sets up Kane vs Ryder at Mania.
For everyone complaining about the Cena vs Kane storyline, at least it has kept Cena away form the title for the past few months and heading into Mania, so thank God for small favors. We could have had Cena hog the spotlight with the belt until EC, so be glad that's not what happened.

US Title: Jack Swaggar (c) vs Kurt Angle

So now we have our storyline set up for Taker & HHH. HHH won't do it because he knows he wounded Taker big time, and he no longer fears him. Taker has been hiding away obsessed with what happened and is more or less out to prove he's not beaten and out to "get his manhood back." The whole thing feels very meh to me, but at least it's out there now.
Shawn Michaels is supposed to be on Raw next week, and Rock will have several Raw appearances upcoming in anticipation of Mania.

Hopefully it continues the slow heel turn for Cena. He's done some things you could say are 'un-cena-like' in the past month. Making out with his good friend's girl, snapping and destroying Swagger..they're setting it up well. Plus, Ryder does better as the underdog. Everyone was all over him while he was chasing the title, now they can be all over him again as he recovers from injuries and fights Cena for hooking up with Eve.

The storyline has to be Cena and her have been together, privately, for a while...They both turn heel and she is his manager and he starts to win matches "with help".
If that isn't the storyline, they will have really screwed things up in a big way.

Can't say I'm surprised or disappointed. His return made no sense and it served no purpose other than buddying up to his friend, taking the spotlight away from CM Punk in a storyline that literally went nowhere and was consistent with his entire career, and a sledgehammer match that most have likely already forgotten. I guess he made his money though, not that he likely needs it anyway.

-- Word is that WWE has decided to put the Brodus Clay "Funkasaurus" gimmick on hold for now. While Clay was getting a positive reaction, Vince McMahon's feeling was that Clay's wrestling was not where it needed to be to appear on WWE TV. Clay had a match on Smackdown a few weeks ago with Heath Slater, which was cut from the show. It was then that the call was made that Clay needed to improve his in-ring skills.

Santino lasted waaaaaaaaaaaay to long in the Chamber. Wonder what they have up their sleeve with him?
The Johnny Ace thing is interesting in that they appear to going into a Johnny vs Teddy storyline for overall power of the GM role, which is great as it gets Punk out of that mess. However, where are they going with the payoff? All stroies SHOULD be about Mania right now, so one would think we get some payoff match at Mania where the winner becomes GM of both shows, but who will Teddy get to suppport him?
And lastly, in my unending goal of bringing back the Funk, where oh where is the Funkasauraus?

I said from the beginning of the character that it would get stale very quickly. What I would have done is continued to throw him down everyone's throat with the dancing gimmick, until eventually, he just snaps in the ring, destroys some jobber, rips off all that crap, and becomes a monster that we all want him to be.
That said, you don't just have this way over character completely disappear without explanation. The creative blew it again.

Having him dance like an idiot and calling him the "Funkasaurus" didn't bother me so much. But, calling him a "funkasaurus in captivity," and being from the planet funk was inexcusable. This isn't the early 1990's anymore, even professional wrestling doesn't have to be this dumb and cartoony. Plus, was he really that over in the first place? Being over in this day and age in WWE isn't really saying much. Whenever he came out my ears always heard tepid enthusiasm, at best. It's not like he was getting reactions like Rikishi in the late 1990's, who did the exact same thing and probably had similar in-ring abilities. Now THAT was over on the audience.

Yes Clay was entertaining but the problems in the ring aren't about him being a top 5 performer, it comes down to the safety of the other talent. He is still not executing moves correctly. If he climbs the l ladder he will be up against bigger guys and the room for error is to great. This is what he was supposed to have fixed.

Ron Simmons added to the Class of 2012. Well earned, and frankly it's the best recognition he's ever gotten in WWE. Although I found it interesting that they focused on his time with APA and showed them beating down people, yet completely glossed over The Nation, which spawned Rock, Mark Henry, and others.

HHH is in, provided it's a Hell in a Cell match. Taker reversed roles and patted him on the shoulder. Honestly, I didn't see that one coming. Couple different ways this storyline can be taken: Taker essentially being Mr. HIAC, getting Shawn involved and his history with Taker in the 1st ever match, the Shawn vs. HHH argument.

Well that's generally the sentiment I have of this whole match to begin with. But, at least they're adding a twist to it, and there is possibly even more to come if Shawn is involved as special ref or they actually make it an official "retirement" match. I just hope WWE isn't stupid enough to have HHH win, because the time to do that has long passed. Now it's just insignificant, does nothing for anyone, and will only add fodder to the critics of the company.

Usually start watching more Raw heading into WrestleMania. I remember most of the Cena- Rock proms from last year and IMO Cena usually got the best of them. I never saw the HIAC coming. I thought he was gonna go the Last Man Standing route after he essentially left Taker laying last year. I LOVE the new twist. Taker and Trips combined have been in 18 Cell Matches, but never one on one. And to answer the question above, NO WAY does Trips put himself over. He would never be able to show up in the locker room ever again.
Barrett looked like his arm was fractured at the forearm. I read its a separated elbow, which I guess is better? That looked nasty though. They really need to stop unneeded bumps like that.
Santino is getting some massive crowd support, and I love it. But, WTF was up with the crowd during Taker's promo? I know his solo promos aren't the best, but the "what" chants were ridiculous, as was the clown who kept yelling "you suck." I HATE when idiots try to become the show. I have the same issue with drunks at the ballpark.
I am not a Cena fan, but his second promo last night was fantastic. He needs to bring more of that and less of the sophomoric "poopy" humor and he can gain my respect back.
Lots of good developments last night, and I am very much looking forward to Mania.

I'm going to be honest, even though I knew what the outcome was going to be, when it came down to Show and Jericho at the end of the battle royal, I really wanted Show to win. I knew he wasn't going to, but the guy's character has gone through so much crap and gotten zero respect for the last three months, and part of me got slightly nostalgic thinking about his entire career and really wanted him to win. I knew it wasn't going to happen, but at the very least he was in the final two. Now it seems he's going to have a beef with Cody Rhodes, which frankly, I don't see how he doesn't come out of it looking poor. They've already got Shaq coming in, so you can expect it's to have beef with Show, which knowing how his character has been used means he's going to lose. If he goes up against Rhodes, somehow, someway, he's going to lose. They're not putting the IC title on the Big Show. It does nothing for him at this stage in his career, and they're trying to build up Rhodes as this cunning/manipulative/win at all costs jerk, so losing it to Big Show makes no sense. Frankly, you'll see another Santino reign before you see Show with the belt, and WWE doesn't need that either.

I love the Big Show, and feel he has never received the recognition he deserves. That said, a Rhodes vs Golddust match would have been so much better for Mania.

I'm not sure what most think of Bleacher Report, but I thought this to be a decent summation of Rock/Cena: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1073760-wwe-wrestlemania-28-why-the-rock-should-win-and-why-he-wont
Than again, they had another opinion article saying the match is a waste because it's going to be a glorified squash match for Rock. There's still a part of me that says Cena slowly turns and burns heading into Mania, the love for Rock eats at him, and then at some point during the match, he snaps. He basically destroys Rock like Austin did to him at Mania 17, but this time in front of the Rock's home crowd. You want to turn him heel, what better way to do it than not only having him beat the hometown guy, but absolutely brutalize him?

Wouldn't count on that. He's filming a movie right now, which I'm guessing will wrap before WM. Then he's got 3-4 other movies ALREADY in pre-production and getting ready to film this year. Just don't see him making the commitment to doing anything else with WWE for a while after this, and for him it was an extra PR push and favor for Vince leading into his more action-oriented move stretch he's got coming.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's basically confirmed.
Plus, it's not like what he does with the WWE will be even close to fulltime. He'll never appear on anything but a Monday night Raw, so I'm sure he could work his movie schedule around that, even if he were to appear at all the Monday Night Raw's.
I'm also torn on who will/should win the Cena/Rock match. One one hand, if Cena wins and it doesn't involve a heel turn, a lot of people who are brutally sick of him will be furious. On the other hand, Rock will never be a full time WWE talent again, so is it really smart to have him come in and whip your top face and then leave? I dunno.
These are why matches like this are so great, just as the WM Rock vs Austin match was. It seems like it would be almost criminal to have one of these two lose given the scenarios at work.
Wrestlemania is setting up to be really special. Definitely a no brainer that I'll be ordering this.

Which is why having Cena win, without outside interference and become a face saves the Rock...On one hand, why would The Rock come back just to lose? OTOH, as you say, why have Cena lose to a guy that isn't going to be around.
This way, The Rock can say I was "whooping his ass" and he needed a girl(Eve) to help him win...It goes down as a win for Cena but The Rock can save face...and then the Rock can beat him at SS and it sets up the possibility of a rubber match down the road, probably one where they end up embracing as friends or something cheesy like that.

"He's here for himself, he keeps to himself, and he keeps someone who's actually touring here all year from making a bigger payday at the bigger shows. It's all about making this the "biggest" Mania of all time. OK, then what do we do the rest of the year? Who's been made? You think he took ANY blame for Survivor [Series] not drawing? Of course not, but how do you feud with a guy on the Titantron? Cena nailed the guy dead on tonight.
"Say anything about Triple H, 'Taker, etc. still being in the top spot but if they were needed to work the road, they would and they would still work their asses off as much as they needed to. Rock is out for Rock and the idea he's here to better anything but his own wallet is the biggest work of 2012."

I read some speculation that Miz made the comments. Some said maybe Big Show, but this sounds like Miz given he was involved in the main event and would have faced immediate criticism for it not drawing a good buy rate.

Miz is a good choice. Not sure Big Show would care. His spot is pretty much set at this point.

Unless he is worried about pissing off the higher ups, I would be surprised if Punk wasn't willing to attach his name to that.

Man, I read all kinds of news this morning:
1. Word is that MOST of the locker room is upset that Rock is getting the top bill at Mania. They say he isn't around and shouldn't be getting paid what he is. I SAY Rock will get them ALL a higher payday, and they should know their role, and shut their mouth!
2. Funkasaurus set to return in a couple weeks.
3. People in the back are said to be against a womens match on the Mania card, as no one cares and it will take time away from the other matches. I SAY give me Beth vs Kharma or Beth vs Trish and I'm happy. Otherwise, I agree, keep them off the card. (by the way, word also is that Kharma is not ready return full time, and was only brought into the Rumble as a surprise. This could explain why she hasn't been back on TV since then.)
4. MITB still not a given for the Mania card. I don't understand this one. They have eliminated the MITB PPV, so I would think its set in stone to be returning to WrestleMania. Its a great match, a great way to get the upper mid card on the Mania show, and a great storyline for the winner of the money in the bank contract. Why would there be any doubt about this?
5. I'll tell you why. Word is that the GM storyline is going to end in a multi-man match that will see Teddy Long field a team to go against Johnny L's team, and the winning team's GM becomes GM of both Raw and Smackdown. I like this concept, but NOT if it means no MITB. They could have this same angle with a one on one match. One would assume, based on the Elimination Chamber angle, that Johnny's team would include Mark Henry, Christian, Alberto Del Rio, and Otunga. Teddy's team would be????

CM Punk and Jericho with an excellent back and forth to start the show. I'm glad they let them start things off, I worry about them getting just a bit lost in terms of importance with HHH/Taker and Cena/Rock dominating a lot of focus and importance. Fact is, the match is still for the biggest belt in the land and features one of your most popular current guys and one of the best guys over the last 10+ years.
Great start.

Couple of thoughts from last night:
1. The Punk/Jericho back and forth was fantastic. Love or hate one or both of them, but if guys are given the mic, I want them to be entertaining, fluid, and to deliver. Both of these guys do that every time they step out there.
1A. Punk and Bryan are fantastic in-ring performers.
2. A big part of me will always look at Michael Cole as the scrawny little punching bag of the locker room, in part because I CANNOT stand listening to him. When JR more or less had a heart attach and an aneurysm at the same it got me excited and into the event. Yeah, he pandered on camera, but this stuff with Cole has gotten out of hand, and he should not be doing both Raw and Smackdown.
3. Not sure where they're going with Kane attacking Truth, Primo & Epic, and Ziggler. I imagine it's a Kane goes off the deep end angle again, although the edge and intensity of it was sorely lacking.
4. Just have Kelly Kelly stand there and never speak again. She's hot, but awful.
5. I honestly was underwhelmed with Rock's promo last night. There were great lines, but I just got turned off how everything was "trending live," and everything was a new catch phrase and crowd chant. It just dragged on far too long, lost my interest, and he brought out the pissed off Rock way too late.

1. I agree. Punk and Jericho are gold on the mic and in the ring. I was waiting to hear these words last night, and I swear I would have ordered Mania on the spot...Punk: "You say you're the best, I say I'm the best. There is only one way to settle this. At WrestleMania...for the WWE Championship....Chris jericho vs CM Punk....in an Iron Man Match!"
2. Cole ruined the show for me for a while. They have toned him down a bit, but he is still an annoying little flea.
3. I always love Kane when he just attacks people for no reason. That's how his character should always be. But, what I liked the most was a Tag Team Championship match on Raw, and more importantly, they had the legit, real tag team retain. I love the champs, and Rosa is the perfect compliment. I could watch her dance all night.
4. Speaking of watching...Eve is hot. Kelly is HOT. The Bellas rock my world. But the ONLY match I want to see is Beth vs Kharma. I never need to see any of these others wrestle, except for Natayla.
5. Rock's promo was decent, and his line about "you fight for the locker room, I'll fight for the people" was excellent. But, for a second straight week, John Cena owned Rocky. In 2 minutes, Cena tore down the Rock in what Rock couldn't do in 20 minutes. I didn't like Cena pointing out that Rock had notes though, that was a cheap shot and made the Product look bad more than it did anything else. I have a feeling Cena is going to go over at Mania.
other stuff:
6. Ever since Miz nearly killed Truth a couple weeks ago, he seems more focused and is back to being a main player. His promo last night was excellent, and its true what he said...he main evented and BEAT SuperCena last year. What's his role gonna be this year? Orton perhaps?
7. Rhodes making fun of Show is great, and I love me some Big Show. Looking forward to their match when its made for Mania, but they need to have Rhodes go over.
8. Is Randy Orton really an afterthought for Mania?
9. No Funkasaurus?
10. All this build for the Gm thing only for it to be resolved on WWE.com in a few minutes? I don't get it.
Overall a good Raw and they continue to build well towards Mania, but, where's the Money in the Bank qualifiers at???

The big announcement is a GM swap. JL will take over at Smackdown, and Teddy Long will take over on Raw. Frankly that sucks, because I find Smackdown to be more entertaining on a number of levels. Not that it will matter, because they're both still going to show up and annoy the daylights out of each other and everyone else.

I enjoyed Rock last night, but I did think he depended a bit much on referencing Twitter. It was must see TV though whenever Cena came out. The great thing about this rivalry is these guys, at least to some degree, completely agree with what they're saying about the other guy. This is not your typical wrestling storyline. For instance, I'm pretty sure Punk and Jericho actually have a huge amount of respect for one another, thus their story, while believable, is fictional (like nearly all storylines). But Cena and Rock legit don't particularly care for one another. Maybe they exaggerate it a bit, but maybe not. Who knows. I think both guys are pretty spot on with what they say about the other. Very enjoyable to watch.
Overall I thought it was a good Raw. They moved the GM storyline along well, and while I still don't really care about it, if they do go Survivor Series style elimination match, it could be entertaining. Would much rather have a MitB match, but oh well.
Glad they had Kane do something, although I'm not sure where they're going with it.
Big Show vs. Rhodes isn't all that interesting, but Cody needs to do something. Still would much rather see something with Goldust, but that doesn't appear likely. If they do end up facing each other, I would hope Rhodes goes over Show. I know he hasn't done much lately, but he's had a very long run with the IC title. I'd just like to see them keep him a bit more involved.
Not sure what they're doing with the tag division, but Bourne getting a 2nd suspension and R Truth getting that first suspension really killed the momentum they had built. Air Boom was the most legit team WWE has had in awhile, and now it's back to a mish mash of guys thrown together and guys we don't care about. I'd like to be interested in Epico and Primo, they do actually work as a team, they make sense together, they've got a hot girl..but I just can't seem to care. Truth and Kofi are both super over, but aside from the one thing they have in common, their characters don't make sense together at all. Swagger and Ziggler can wrestle together some, but both of them should be much more focused on singles wrestling.
There are still quite a number of guys who don't have anything to do at Mania yet, which is exciting, because they've already got 4 great matches on the card. I think this will be a good Mania regardless of what they do with the undercard, but it's typically the undercard that determines whether an event is good vs being great. Hopefully WWE creative delivers.

The Rock complained about how the people are tired of Cena...That seems to be true.
But is that Cena's fault?
Vince has been the one who hasn't wanted to turn Cena heel. The WWE are the ones that aren't moving in the direction of giving Cena a new image.
Now, maybe Cena has said no to all of that but I have never read anything that suggests Cena runs the show in the way that guys like HHH did.
Cena beat down Rock again last night in the promo. I mean, Kung Pao b****? What was that even supposed to mean? That was just dumb.

I do Rock vs Taker, but the only way that works is if Rock beats Cena. The next night he comes out and says, "I beat the Superhero, next year I challenge the streak."
That gives you Cena vs Taker at Mania 30 to end the UnderTaker's career.
ShaneDawg85

A lot of people wanted a Taker vs. Rock match at mania but never got it, but outside of ratings does it really accomplish anything? This of course assumes the streak survives this year, which I think it will but who knows with the "brains" at WWE. You could do a rematch with Cena, but if they fight at Summerslam as has been rumored then it means a lot less. When Rock fought Hogan he didn't fight him again at Mania, just a later pay-per-view. Another option is him and Punk a la what Punk/Jericho this year, but how do you build that when there's no history there like with Cena? Long shot dream is something involved with Austin, but that's probably the least likely idea of all.

Sadly, if The Rock and Cena are supposed to fight at Summerslam, I can easily see the 2 splitting the first two and next year's Wrestlemania being the 3rd and deciding match. BTW... Cena did in fact own Rock again. It's exactly what I said last week. Rock needs a writer and can't improvise very well (ala the notes on the wrist). Cena can. Rock was completely flustered after Cena came out and ran him down again.

Gotta say I'm gaining a rooting interest in Cena. Rock has always been incredibly talented and charismatic with a mic in his hand, and for Cena to go toe to toe with him verbally and handle him makes me gain a lot of respect. There's a way to be a "hustle, loyalty, respect" kind of guy without being as corny and stale as Cena has been. Plus, I do think Cena genuinely cares about the WWE and the fans, while I would say Rock's interests are primarily a big pay day and feeding his ego.
All that said, I think I'm still rooting for Rocky :) He seemed pretty stunned and angry when Cena came out, but he rebounded nicely and finished on a high note. I'm anxious for their next little soiree. Cena brought it last year around this time, then basically when right back to his corny image. Regardless of outcome, I'd like this Cena to be the one that stays.

I don't necessarily agree that Cena owned the Rock last night, but Rocky certainly wasn't at the top of his game. He still has it in him, but the timing seemed to be off and he appeared just to be a little out of practice. I certainly think DRJ has the wit to match Cena...he just needed to start this before late February. With that said, I think the "notes" could have been an obvious plant by the WWE to pit the "out of touch" DRJ against the "always loyal to the company" Cena. I hope Rocky knocks him out, but last night could have been a lot better.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but what if that was the actual point of the promo? It's been a long, LONG time since Rock's ever looked that rattled during a promo. Maybe it's just acting like he was really at a loss for words, for the sake of the storyline. Y'know, with the new worked shoot era that we're trending toward.

Supposedly the WWE put a video up that showed the Rock's promo, but the notes on his wrist were nowhere to be found. Pretty sure that part at least was not a work. Probably Rock being super busy, having less time to prepare than he should have, and just wanting to be sure he hit on the things he needed to.
I think he was just a touch off, while Cena was in the zone, and as I said in the last point, there's probably a good chance he just wasn't prepared. Hopefully WWE gets his focus for the next month and he'll be on top of his game next time. And, let me just say, Rock slightly off his game, is still better than nearly everyone else on their game.
And I don't think Rock would go for an angle where he looked like that during a promo. I think he would rather Cena physically harm him during a promo than look bad. That has always been his bread and butter, I just can't see him agreeing to that. Everything I've read has implied these guys have quite a bit of creative control over what they say, I think Rock was just at a bit of a loss when Cena was speaking, and certainly frustrated.
Maybe I'm buying into it and the little kid in me is coming out, but I think a lot of this with them is very real.

I think it's a VERY well designed work, with subtle things being "caught" by people and them looking like they are trying to cover it up. No way they would bring Rocky back for something like this and then just let Cena go off script on him. I think they are trying to make Rocky look all big time hollywood, so that they aren't LOCKED into Cena being a heel after mania when Rock is gone again. Both have signs of face and heel in their promos and storylines right now, so it could be a "face v face" showdown and they can go in different directions after the event. My guess is because they aren't sold that Rocky is coming back to do anything after Mania and they are giving themselves an out in the storyline so that the whole NWO fiasco doesn't happen again (when Hall and Xpac missed shows and last second just didn't show killing storylines).

Well, its unofficially official. :o
At this week's Smackdown, they make the Rhodes vs Big Show IC title match official for WrestleMania.
Also, a program begins with Kane and Orton, so I guess that's the answer to that question.
For me, I think they dropped the ball.
I would have preferred Big Show vs Shaq, Rhodes vs Golddust for the IC title, Bryan vs Orton for the title, and Kane vs Sheamus.

1) Gotta have fresh blood going for the title sometimes..I know Shaemus has held it before but Orton always seems to have it.
2) Big Show vs Shaq is a waste of time.
3) I don't disagree about the Rhodes/Show thing...Not really sure what the point is there but my guess is the point is to really start to elevate Rhodes to ME status.
4) Kane vs Orton is a psycho vs psycho type thing but you already know who the winner is...they aren't going to have Kane win that match unless they want to start a Kane/Shaemus angle and need Kane to win that match to push it...Remember, the draft will probably be a few weeks after WM.

A couple things I read over the weekend.
1. Possibility for Shaq to be inserted into the Big Show vs Rhodes match as a ref or enforcer or something.
2. Wade Barrett was supposed to win the Money in the Bank match at Mania. After his injury, rather than have the match and decide on a new winner, they decided to scrap the match altogether. I guess I understand their point, but I would have had the MITB anyway. Its another main event type match. It gives 6 to 8 guys a payday. And it beats the hell out of a tag match between the dueling commissioners.

I just heard on Raw that Santino beat Swagger for the U.S. title. Now, I'm not a Santino fan. I know, he's for comedic purposes by and large, and that's fine. I've laughed myself stupid at comedic guys over the years like the Outlaws, but I just can't see it with Santino. That said, it's a good thing for WWE. The guy is over, and when a guy is over, as much as you may want to develop talent and new guys, you have to give the guy whose over a bigger push. Swagger from what I've read and seen on a limited basis is a good talent, but he has zero personality, zero presence, and frankly the crowd only boo's him because he's with Ziggler and Vicki. I'm not saying Santino will add relevance to the U.S. title again, because all of the belts outside of the WWE title are worthless right now and treated like 3rd class fodder. But, it'll get people talking, and hopefully lead to something better.

I'm not saying Santino will add relevance to the U.S. title again, because all of the belts outside of the WWE title are worthless right now and treated like 3rd class fodder. But, it'll get people talking, and hopefully lead to something better.
Santino is just awful...funny at times but awful. Agree that Swagger has zero charisma or relevance. Good talent in the ring though.
The Cobra is a worse finishing move than Hogan's leg drop.
BTW, the Rock's last skit was pretty funny but still, his whole schtick about how everyone is sick of Cena is more of the fault of Vinnie Mac than Cena IMO.

Swagger is one of those guys you can point out that would have benefitted greatly from the old territory system. He's got a great gimmick and he's a solid wrestler. He's just not entertaining.

Another solid Raw in IMO. I'm loving all the Rock/Cena stuff.
WWE is actually building this PPV properly. Plenty of focus on the HHH/Taker, Rock/Cena, and Punk/Jericho matches. We're still a month away, but with the amount of build they've done, it feels like the PPV should be this Sunday. This is how a PPV is supposed to be..when two guys fight it's supposed to feel like FINALLY we get these two in the ring and get the big payoff. I think that's what we should get with all 3 of those matches, and to a lesser degree, Bryan/Sheamus.
I also think they GM vs GM tag match could be good if they book it properly.

Agree on all fronts about Swagger. I can't believe they haven't found a way to make him more over with this stable. They need to find a way to get the crowd to hate him more, but it just hasn't worked. Really don't like Santino as US Champ. What the heck is with this push?
The HBK special ref thing is sort of boring.

Typically I am not a fan of a comedy act winning a major title, but two things here. One, the US title has been meaningless for quite some time, and two, the crowd popped for Santino like it was Steamboat beating Savage at WrestleMania 3. The only thing missing from Howard Finkle and his "Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew, United States Champion...." shtick.
I agree that Vince is building Mania up properly, the way they used to build PPV's back when there were only the big four, or five if you include King of the Ring. I love when they book an event 6 weeks in advance. The Punk / Jericho feud is building great, as is the Triple H / Taker rematch. I have to say, Cena and the Rock are kinda boring me right now. I don' know if Rock is just rusty, but he's not "bringing it" as he likes to say. Its the same old catch phrases from 10 years ago, and Cena is just owning him right now. The crowd is actually starting to get behind Cena even stronger than ever, which leads me to believe....that SG is right. Cena will do whatever is necessary to beat Rock at Mania, thus sealing his heel turn. Or we can hope, anyway!
I love HBK, and he's still better than most of the roster on the mic, but why do you need a special enforcer in a Hell in a Cell match? The only thing the ref does is count to three at the end. Which leads me to believe that HBK superkicks Taker and MAY actually give Trips the victory here. They can end the streak but say that it took both Trips and HBK to get it done. The only thing is, what good does that do? Unless Taker is done and cannot go anymore, ending the streak effectively ends a Main Event match for next year's Mania. It ends the possibility of Taker vs Rock and Taker vs Cena. And it gives the win to Trips who is basically retired, and HBK who is retired. It doesn't build anything. So the flip side is HBK superkicks Taker, Taker STILL kicks out, and the DX buddies ride off into the sunset knowing they can't get the job done. OR...and the most likely scenario, HBK superkicks Trips and we have ONE last HBK match at next years Mania with HBK vs Trips. So Mania 29 could have Trips/HBK, Taker/Rock, and maybe Punk/Austin all booked well in advance. That would be some star studded card.
The GM thing is aggravating to me. At first it was just a nuisance. Now, their bickering and involvement is taking away from the matches and costing champions their belts. And the worst thing is....nobody gives a rats arse who wins their feud.

HBK swerving Taker is too obvious. Everyone kind of expects that would happen, so HBK swerving HHH would make more sense. There's always been the underlying question of who is better between the two, they've feuded on and off as much as they've been united, and HBK came closer to ending the streak than anyone before HHH. All that added up would set up HBK screwing HHH. Plus, HBK already screwed Taker out of the title in 1997, not that the kids would know that anyway.

Right, there would be absolutely no point. What would be the value to him losing to HHH? HHH could say hes the best ever? I mean, Undetaker streak defines him, he hasn't really held a ton of titles and has always been an off and on player. He had moments where he was top 3 in the industry but HHH carried the company at times.
I really hope they don't do some no contest finish. Ugh. I just hope this is a great match that goes 35 minutes and Taker wins. HBK might pull one over on HHH but what I don't want is some feud where HBK comes back in some capacity against HHH. I like that hes retired.

I like that he's adhering to his "retirement" stipulation, but I hate that he's retired. I would still love to see more matches with HBK vs Jericho, Punk, Ziggler, Trips, Rhodes, Bryan, etc. HBK had a lot left to give in the ring. His retirement stipulation came way to soon.

Going back to the dream matches question from a while ago, Bleacher Report had an article on dream matches we'll never see, and #1 on the list was Rock vs. HBK. I had to stop myself to realize that the two never competed in a singles match. It makes sense after I think about it, given that HBK was gone most of the years when Rock was at his peak. Honestly, I'd think about buying a ppv if I could get that match. Forget any other dream match out there, nothing could top that in my mind. Of course, that's why it will never happen.

I never thought of that. HBK vs Rock would be huge, even now!
How about:
80's Hogan vs 90's Austin
Mr. Perfect vs Dolph Ziggler
Bret Hart vs Chris Jericho
CM Punk vs Randy Savage
Andre the Giant vs Big Show
80's Sting vs 90's UnderTaker

Now that Cena called him on it for a third week in a row, that tells me that all of these "notes" are scripted to portray The Rock as an out of touch Hollywood type.

The Rock was in his element and very good tonight. Smart move to have a scripted promo where Cena and Rock weren't in the ring together. The Rock will never be able to go toe to toe and match Cena in a shoot style promo war. I think some were generally starting to turn on the Rock. This should help him get some of his mojo back.

That was just an overall FUN show last night. The only thing I am not a fan of is Jericho calling out Punk on the alcohol thing. I understand he's a heel and heel's do that, but turning alcoholism into an angle is not cool, especially for a PG show. God forbid they just let two very good wrestlers WRESTLE for the WWE Title without some kind of forced story!

Read an article on BR citing a wrestling magazine that there's a rumor going around that the WWE title match will open Mania. I have to say I find that to be an awful idea. I believe in starting off with a bang, but when the match has the potential to be that good, why ruin it by putting a few garbage matches after it? I shudder to think the Long vs. JL team match will but so entertaining, and certainly not as entertaining and awesome as Punk vs. Jericho. If a title is on the line in the first match it should always be one of the lesser ones, which to me means the IC title match should start it off. That is how it used to be done, and I don't find anything wrong with that. Or heck, put the team match at the top of the card and put the IC title match after it. Either way, there's no reason for them to have either big belt start off a Wrestlemania. They've done it before, and I just don't think it represents what are supposed to be your most prized belts well, and it certainly does a disservice to Punk & Jericho. Assuming no other matches are added, I go:
Team Long vs. Team JL
Intercontinental Title Match
Kane vs. Randy Orton
World Heavyweight Title Mach
Hell in a Cell
WWE Title Match
Rock vs. Cena
I'd even be fine with flipping the cell and WWE title matches, but either way, it puts the matches featuring your prized titles where they need to be, in prime spots.

I agree that you don't want the WWE Title match being first, but you also can't have all three main events back to back to back. The fans would be burned out by the time Cena vs Rock goes on, and the match without crowd response would suck. I'm not sure how else to do it than the way they are actually doing it, but I do agree that I don't like what should always be the main event, ie, the WWE Championship, being first.

One way around this would be my idea from a couple weeks ago....Punk vs Jericho for the WWE Championship in an IronMan match. That way it can open the show, but it also goes an hour into the show. Follow it up with your Long vs Johnny tag match, the IC title match, and Orton vs Kane before having your HUGE Hell in a Cell Match for the middle of the card. Then go to the World Championship, throw the rumored Ladies match with Maria I can't spell her last name so we'll just call her HOT, and end with Cena vs Rock.

I love the Jericho / Punk interaction, as Jericho is just Gold on the microphone and in his storytelling, but the Cena vs Rock thing is growing stale, and the Trips/Taker/HBK story has reached its limit as well. I normally like good long builds to the Mania matches, but it seems in 2of the 3 main events we're just rehashing the same thing every week.
Where were the tag champs? No room on a 4 hour card at Mania for the tag team champions?

I only saw the last hour or so of the show, so the only thing of significance I saw was the trio at the end, and I agree, it all felt very stale and boring. Where's the edge? Where's the intensity? It's kind of hard to stay entertaining when Taker hasn't wrestled in a year, Michaels is retired, and HHH is somewhere in the middle. Heck, they haven't even officially "revealed" that Taker "cut" his hair off, but I guess they'll get to that next week. I can only hope that next week we'll get some physical altercations between at least one of the three and Rock and Cena, because otherwise it's another yawn fest.

I was in attendance last night (12th row behind the King and Cole), Primo & Epico had a match for Superstars against Mason Ryan & Alex Riley. Brodus Clay was in the dark match, I don't know who he wrestled, I was making my way to the seats as he won.
The Miz came out after the show went off the air, talking about not having a match at WrestleMania, which prompted The Rock to come back out. They went back and forth on the mic for about 20 minutes, which ended with a Rock Bottom and People's Elbow to send the Filthadelphia crowd home happy.

Somewhat surprised that Booker T is the last guy on TL's team, since most of the names I had read consisted of Brodus Clay, Rey Mysterio, and even Miz. I smell a Miz swerve on JL coming up, because it makes too much sense. His character has been jerked around by JL, but I can't see them taking JL off tv and thereby have his team lose the match. He's a board member, fans hate his guts, which counts for something, and he's more over now than he ever was in his wrestling career.
If this injury to Christian is not legitimate, then I smell a feud with Punk starting after Mania.
