Do you think Maddon would have won the Award if the Rays had not made the playoffs? I doubt it. The O's late run beating the Red Sox 5 or the the last 7 games they played against each other helped the Rays to clinch the Wild Card and Maddon to slide into the the MOY Award IMO.
