Not much to be honest. I think there will be a lot of rumors. There will be rumors of us talking to Ortiz, Prince, and multiple other agents. There will be plenty of trade rumors including Guthrie, Johnson, maybe even Reynolds and Jones. I don't think much gets done though. Maybe a minor trade or two. Maybe a small free agent signing. I am not getting my hopes up of having big news break.

Just guessing, but I think this may be a slow developing offseason as teams reevaluate players based on the new CBA changes. Could be a good bit of differing interpretations that lead to disparate player valuations. So the winter meetings may be a lot of talk and few actual transactions.

I expect to see a starting pitcher with a decent track record acquired, either via trade or free agency. Duquette made it clear that pitching was the top priority. I think we'll see action on that front, though I can't say what specifically.

Rather than lying in the weeds and letting the market "percolate", I humbly opine that DD will pounce like a cat on a rat for the juiciest "road kill" available.

A lot more "Fluff" pieces from MASN about how we are looking into everybody, but just cannot find the right trading partner.

I am going to take a guess and say that we land a pitcher (Edwin Jackson) and make a trade for another starter. I think that 2/5's of the rotation gets locked up before the meetings end.

More minor league level FA signings and some smaller trades that bring back guys like this as well.

Pitching will be addressed I just have no idea how. No major Free Agent signings will be made. Like Brendan, I think there will be more rumors than normal as I believe DD will be extremely active and the agents for the big guys are also agents for the smaller guys. He will also inquire into many players even ones we have no chance at/business at bringing in. This will make things interesting, possibly unbearable? :D

A couple of trades ,but might not get finished by the end of the meetings. Pitching and DH/OF will get addressed. 100 rumors about players going all over the country and most not getting done.

I'm somewhat optimistic about the meetings. Because Duquette isn't necessarily tied to any of the players he'll be more willing to move some of them. Therefore, I see a couple of important trades resulting in the O's getting additional starting pitching. Reimold, Guthrie, Reynolds and Davis would be among the players we make available. I also think he may be willing to trade several of our minor league prospects. I'm looking forward to an active first week of December.

A trade for Koji and signing of a mid tier FA starting pitcher.

I would look for a trade involving Guthrie, the acquistion of a SP, and possibly a surprise international FA.

Okay, I'm drinking the koolaid. Here's my optimistic/ridiculous opinion:

Trade for one of Morales/Smoak
Trade for Gavin Floyd
Sign Coco Crisp
Sign Aaron Harang

Trading for Koji may be enough for me to renew my ticket plan ;)

I don't think that Texas is going to get rid of Koji. They lack lefty pitching in the pen and Koji, while RH, is effective against lefties. And, if he's traded, I'm not sure that it's going to be to Baltimore. DD has no attachment to Koji. And, unless we dump Gregg, there's not really a need for another RH, late-inning, reliever in the pen (Johnson, Strop, Gregg, Chong), especially one who gave up HR's at the rate Koji did at the end of last season.

I think GG21 may be right on 2 starting pitchers by a combo of FA/Trade. Like grimed21 said, I also could see us addressing a starting LF or 4th OF if they believe in and don't trade Reimold. And, there's always the backup catcher to deal with. I'd think they could finally get that done, as well.

I don't think Buck does either. Koji's a long shot.

I think Double D makes some good moves that improves the team overall, but none of the moves will be those headlines inducing splashes that so many people are longing for.

Boras was on XM radio yesterday and said he anticipated the free agent market taking longer to play out this year because of all of the turnover in the GM offices around baseball would trigger a lot more trade talk. Meaning other GMs would be calling DD asking about guys that under AM they knew were unavailable. I thought that was rather interesting. So I would expect the Orioles to get a few trades done or at least the ground work for trades done. But not much else.

I read that Texas wants to keep him. I don't think the O's will want to give up much for him. I think we might seen a few low cost high risk relief pitchers.

I think we will trade Jeremy Guthrie during the winter meetings.

The Angels reportedly have interest in him.

Or you can google "angels talk to orioles" and some stuff will come up too.

Not entirely, but I think the Chong (attempted) signing indicates Duquette is looking in another direction.

If anything happens, I think a trade for a pitcher is the most likely scenario. It wouldn't surprise me to see Guthrie traded for another starter who they believe might need a change of scenery.

My guess is Duquette will be looking around the Winter Meetings like a one eyed cat in a fish market.

1) Percolating
2) Moving on to Plan B's and C's
3) Jon Heyman linking us as "interested" in 2-3 Scott Boras clients.
4) "Talking to teams" and "monitoring the trade market"
5) Seven Roch Kubatko "nothing imminent" blog posts.

I think DD will continue to be active as he has been since he hit the ground running. Temper that with this:

I agree that will slow everyone down. Til everyone gets their solid take on the new agreement.
