This is prompted by MTOsFan comment in the 80's thread, and I thought it was an interesting enough question to merit its own thread.
Mine was Oasis (Whats the Story) Morning Glory? back in '95, when I was in 5th grade. I didn't have a stereo or "boom box" as they were then called, but I do remember listening to it a lot on my computer. Two years ago a friend put it on when we were at a beach house, and I was astounded that after nearly a decade of not hearing it, there were a ton of lyrics that I remembered from even the more obscure tracks.

The first vinyl album I bought with my very own money was ACDC - Back in Black. As I mentioned in the earlier thread, my first CD was Terrence Trent Darby - "Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby". I'm slightly embarrased on how much worse my musical taste was when I was 17 than when I was 10.

I don't really remember. When I was 7, I had vinyl records of Kiss' Love Gun, Destroyer and Rock N Roll All Over as well as Elton John's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. And a K-Tel record (remember those?) And, I had a Barry Manilow live double album. See, I even had eclectic tastes back then.
The first used CDs I bought was Extreme's Pornograffiti and AC/DC's Back in Black. The first new CD I bought was Tesla's Psychotic Supper.

Eazy-E's / Eazy Duz It - yep - that's right on cassette. And I was 8...this was back in the day before parental warnings on the tapes - I bought it when my parents and i went to the movies. I didn't even know what it was but I asked for the best "rap" album out and the guy sold it to me. What a filth bag...
The first album I acutally sought out and purchased was August and Everything After by the Counting Crows - I saw Mr. Jones one night on the ole MTV after dark "indie" hour and that song struck a chord in me when I was 12 that was like nothing I had ever felt. I don't know why - it was just one of those moments when you brain wakes up to music...

Although it wasn't music, the first album I bought was "Bill Cosby is a Very Funny Fellow Right".
I had every album Bill Cosby put out in the 60's...when I was a senior in high school, I lent them to a friend...and never saw them again.

I think it was Genesis's We Can't Dance. I was an odd nine-year-old.
I don't like most of that album anymore, but I do still love Genesis.

I'm said to admit that my first cd was N'SYNC's self-titled debut. They were huge at the the time and I was around 10.

Mine was Oasis (Whats the Story) Morning Glory? back in '95,
Funny story...Back in 94-95 time frame my parents just purchased a new car and gave me there old one. It was 1988 Ford Tempo (my first car...what a chick magnet :D ). As soon as I could I went to Circuit City and bought a Cd player and had them install it. I picked it up parked it out front and went in to go by some CD's. I bought about four but remember one was Oasis and the other was the Smashing Pumpkins Cd. As I was sitting in the parking lot listening on my new CD player, I notice smoke coming from the hood. I guess sitting there for over 30 minutes listening to music was to much for one of the hoses to take, and it popped a leak.

When I was a kid, we had 45's as Weams said. I do remember buying the Tokens', The Lion Sleeps Tonight, and some Lettermen love songs (for good dry-humpin' at parties ;) :002_ssmile: ). I also bought the Beach Boys', Summer Days (and Summer Nights). I'm not sure what was first, but I do remember :o . Those were the days....

The first album, period was McCartney & Wings, Band on the Run on cassette; I was ten. On vinyl, it was probably Endless Summer by the Beach Boys. The first CD I bought was Springsteen, Born in the U.S.A. A neighbor actually sold eight-track tapes at a yard sale, so I bought Tommy by the Who for about a buck.

...And Justice For All, on cassette. That was after a friend had dubbed me a copy of it.
And Justice for All was my first one too! I bought it after hearing all of the "hits" from the black album in 1991. I was in 7th grade. My second CD was House of Pain's "Jump Around" CD single.
My first tape was Bobby Brown's "Don't Be Cruel". I wanted the cassingle for "On Our Own", but my mom got me DBC instead.
