An "unsung" player at Delmarva is Miquel Abreu. Little Miggy is quiet, very quiet, smallish and moves as if he has an inferiority complex. That is until he swings the bat. He doesn't have a roundhouse swing, but a compact almost choppy swing that produces hard liners.

Earlier in the season, he could be counted on as a clutch hitter. When needed, we could count on him to focus and get a needed run home ... if there was a baserunner. When Miggy was hurt recently, the team went south. He has been back now for five games and the team is doing better.

Last night, he was 3 for 4 with two doubles. In the last five games, he is 6 for 14 (.429) with a HR and 3 runs scored.

For the year, he is second in hits (69), 3rd in doubles (13), 3rd in HR (7) and 4th in avg (.266).

His 2B play is also very good. You don't even think about a ball near him as you know he will handle it well.

The quiet little one hit his 10th HR yesterday.

Only Tripp (13) and Vinyard (11) have more HR. Snyder (8) and Rowell (5) are next.

Now, if he would just draw a few walks, he might become a legit prospect.

I like to watch him play. He and Snyder work well together. You're right about him being "unsung."
