The Orioles used to play charity basketball during the off-season when I was a kid in the late-70's/early-80's.

I think it started around the time the O's won 3 straight pennants, and it continued until Mike Flanagan suffered an injury to his achilles tendon and missed half a season.

I remember Tim Stoddard, Eddie Murray, Ken Dixon, Rich Dauer...and I'm pretty sure a rookie era Cal Ripken, Jr., too.

Can anybody else help me fill in the blanks?

We never took pictures, but I'd love to see a shot of those Orioles basketball uniforms too.

I saw them play in the late 60's or early 70's. Paul Blair was by far the best
player on the court. I believe he scored 50 or so at one game I watched.

I actually played in a game against them back in....I believe it was around '81-82 at Southern Fulton High School in Pa.

Stoddard, Bumbry, Tippy, DeCinces, Roenicke,Mcgregor, Shelby, Palmer?, I think Dallas Williams, Dauer, Bonner, Dan Ford, Belanger.....my memory is slightly fading...:o

I got to play Center/Forward against Stoddard and remember how physical he was.....we ended up losing to them something like 125-120....a very defensive struggle :D I did get to swat one of Bumbrys layup attempts into the stands....of course he was what? 5'8"-5'9"? I am 6'7" and weighed about 200# back then...and had a curly perm...lol

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and we got to talk to them afterwards and get autographs and pics....we then hustled home to watch the 11:00pm sports edition and saw ourselves in action....:002_sbiggrin:

My team was made up of local hoops standouts asked to participate by Glen Presgraves, the at-the-time t.v.sports guy......I'll try to contact the station and see if they have the video in an archive somewhere...
