Brandon Snyder is up to .280.

Of course, now that I've posted this, it's the official kiss of death. He'll go on one of his prolonged slumps back down to .230....

Him and Rowell had a couple of hot games back to back. Let's hope they can both keep it up.

He is batting .425 over his last 10 and has just crushed the Suns in this series I am sure they are glad the series is over!

I know he had a 3k game seven games ago, but I believe the two walks and two Ks over his last six games may be his best stretch over the season so far.

Let's hope he can keep it up.

I doubt he will ever be a top prospect as a 1B. Move him to left, Baltimore has a big black hole there

why not try him at short? Give him a chance, we have no one at that position.

Not sure about this comment. He was considered one of the best hitters of his HS class and was the top prospect in the Appy league in 2005. He certainly has the potential to hit enough to play 1B as a top prospect.

Its just my opinion. Plus Tex is coming. He could be an above average LF. I guess im kinda giving up on him fulfilling ALL of his potential. If he fulfills all of it then he could be a good 1b.

He played SS for our HS team at Westfield, his only problem was he tried to make every single throw on the run. But he does have a good arm and rarely made an error.

He was 0 for 4 tonight, however besides his last strike out, all of his at bats were solid. He looks totally different at the plate than he did to start the season. He hit 2 to the wall tonight and hit a liner to left, which would of been a double but the 3rd baseman made a great play.

That's a pretty silly, unfounded statement...

Indeed! And one of those to the wall was deep and almost over. Also, he was productive in moving a runner to third in the first inning (as I remember it). He has been very patient lately at the plate. He is extending counts, getting walks and making them pitch to him. He now wiats for the good pitch -- which he can recognize better -- to hit. Very encouraging!!!

And how about that OUTSTANDING diving catch in CF by Brandon Tripp? That was just about as good as they can be. Also, he had a HR in his first AB. QUite a night.

Any chance Tripp gets promoted this season? I am admittedly a
novice when it comes to judging minor league talent, but it seems
that we are holding a lot of guys back. Binick, for example. Am
I totally off here Doc? (Thanks for all the updates, btw!)

Tripp has been recovering from a minor injury that seemed to bother him in June...he's starting to pick it up again but probably needs to keep it up to earn a promotion. Remember, he wasn't even considered a prospect coming into this year, after not showing much at Aberdeen in '06. As a tie-back to the topic of this thread, historical trends suggest that Snyder and Rowell putting up numbers around league average (mid-.700s OPS) at well below league average age (Rowell is 18, Snyder 20, lg avg is 22), projects better prospect-wise than Tripp posting a .900 OPS at age 23. Best case scenario for Tripp is to continue at a steady .900+ clip and hold his own (meaning lg avg or better) in a month or more at Frederick. If he does this, I think we can consider him a notable prospect going into next season. Either way, it is nice to have a hitter in our system putting up league-leader type numbers.

This is not a Brandon Tripp thread, but I have been told that unless something unforeseen occurs (injuries, call ups) the Shorebirds will remain intact until Frederick needs help for the playoffs.

As for Brandon Tripp, I rate him better now at this stage than Val Majewski (sorry Birdseed) and above Nick Markakis at Delmarva. I see many similarities in hitting and fielding between Val and Brandon. Injuries affected Val, let's hope Brandon has better luck. These comments are based on play at Delmarva, not total minor league play.

I've really jinxed the poor guy.

I hope he doesn't get a hit again all year!

A promotion to Fredrick sometime this summer was actually what I was
asking about.

On a totally tangential note: How hard is it to get tickets to ShoreBirds
games? I was thinking about driving from Baltimore to see a game on a
Monday sometime at the end of the month or the beginning of August. If
I just walk up, am I going to have trouble getting tickets?

As a huge fan of minor league baseball... no. Games don't sell out. They always find room for one more :)

Sweetness. I'm definitely going to make a trip downnyocean the first
Monday they are at home after the 25th of July (watch, with my luck
all the prospects I want to see will have been promoted...)
