Watching G4 right now .. they're doing an E3 preview show and just showed in-game footage of a game called Left 4 Dead. I had little interest in this game when I first heard about it .. a FPS where you're killing zombies.

Well, I just watched a 5+ minute demo of the game (A company guy was talking while someone offstage was playing the game) and all I can say is ... WOOOOWWWW. First of all, the game runs off of Valves' Source Engine (Half-Life 2) and looks great. You're one of 4 survivors in LA after some plague/sickness sweeps over LA and you have to work in tandem with these other 3 characters to stay alive ... i.e. - no Rambo-style run and gunning. The demo showed the team walking through a broken down home when a laaarge group of zombies breaks in ... and I mean a LOT of zombies. You are greatly outnumbered in this game. And these aren't slow moving, drag your feet type walking dead ... I'm talking running top speed en masse like in the Dawn of the Dead remake.

The team eventually makes it outside and get caught in a dead end with about 100+ zombies running down a very small alley right at them. They eventually make it out of the alley but are quickly overwhelmed. Just zombies everywhere running top speed, leaping over and around cars to get to you. One feature that I really liked was when your character is greatly injured, you fall to the ground, but are still able to look around and shoot. If one of your team can't get to you and help, you eventually bleed out and die.

This game looked FANTASTIC. I was very impressed and this is definitely a game I'll be getting when it comes out. For anyone that's interested, G4 will also be playing Microsoft's E3 press conference tonight; I think around 11pm (8pm PST).

Oh yeah, by the way .... Layla Kayleigh is hooooooooottt. I don't think I can stress that enough.
