Well, the great thinkers are ESPN have decided to waste my highlight viewing time with a wonderful contest to determine "who's now". I am just dying of anxiety to know who's going to win in the contest between Andy Roddick and Carmelo Anthony, or the epic battle between Venus Williams and Sidney Crosby. Are they actually people out there who give a crap about this? Has ESPN completely forgotten that there are sports fans who watch Sportscenter for highlights? Or, do they think that we are all so immersed in trendy pop culture that we need a mindless contest to determine which athlete is the most likely to make tabloid headlines? This needs to end...now.

Agree 100%. So much so that I'm gonna copy my exact rant on this from another forum:
Who's Now:
Dumbest Sportscenter crap ever?
Christ, the same guy explains how it works and says the exact same thing every single time and it's so horrible. LeBron James against Cam (?) Slater? Are you serious? I don't think any of the judges even knew who the other guy is. And then Stuart Scott is always trying to prod them to vote for the underdog but luckily they're not morons and vote for the obvious one; Scott's trying to make it all controversial because Slater slept with Pamela Anderson and Cameron Diaz and stuff. Who cares? It's LeBron James! Whatever the heck "now" is, is stupid, first of all. Second of all, that matchup isn't remotely close.
Somewhere, Dan Patrick is rolling over in his ESPN grave and Kenny Mayne is floating away in his kayak.
They spend 15 minutes on this balogna and give you like 10 seconds per game of baseball highlights, if that.

That's kinda funny, considering only this week Patrick announced he's leaving ESPN totally in August.

Lol, I know. Hence the reference immediately after he announced he was leaving.

Cut to the chase, this is another coronation ceremony for LeBron James by YESPN. Wake me when the predictable is over.

Agreed, this is such a stupid concept, that only serves to increase my disdain for Sportscenter. And the "devil's advocate" arguing done on there (and sometimes Pardon the Interruption and some of those other shows) drives me insane. When you can tell the guys are reaching to defend the 'other side' of the situation, just to create disagreement, it's annoying. Ugh, ugh, a thousand times, ugh.
