Both are edging back onto the radar screen after slow starts.Probably not really starters but might be useful reserves.Wouldn't mind seeing them.

Have to think that Fio could do a better job than Gibbons as a left field platoon.

I agree with you Mike. I'd rather see either of these guys on this team instead of Gibbons. A Fio/Knott or Val/Knott platoon might not be bad in LF.
Frankly, both of these guys should be tearing up the Eastern League. There numbers are very disappointing, considering that it's the 2nd go round for Fio, and that Majewski can't even reproduce the numbers he put up in the EL 3 or 4 years ago. Both look like reserves at best. IMO, they are closer to being off the radar than back on it.

Amen, Amen, Amen.....Amen.....
Ok, enough of that. Somenone on these boards suggested starting a "Bring Up Val Thread", for which I am obviously in favor. I have no problem in adding Fio to that thread as I think that both have been playing pretty darn well of late and both of whom are a far sight better than any other OF'ers in the system right now, including the AAAA OF in Norfolk.
The only way I could see the O's justifying bringing up Knott over Val or Fio is if they had a shot at the playoffs and were banking on him to put up the MiLB numbers he posted with OTHER clubs. BUT....the O's aren't going to the playoffs so IMHO, they would be best served to bring up Val and give him a shot to show that he has indeed turned things around and that he can be counted on the be a valuable piece of the puzzle in the 2008 season.
Since a relatively slow start in May, Val is hitting at a .305 clip, SLG. .407 and OBP. .387. He has been consistantly better since May, while his glove continues to be overlooked in favor of Knott, who isn't much better than Jay "Javy" Gibbons in LF. Val is hitting .319 vs. lefties this year and has always hit well vs. lefties.
The O's should do something to let both Val and Fio know that they haven't been completely forgotten and that they won't have to stay in Bowie for the rest of the season.....And from what I gather, Norfolk and the O's could both use their help.
Just my biased opinion......with a little help from the encouraging performances of late from both Val and Fio.

These are the kind of players the Orioles s/be giving a look to right now in order to see where, and if they have a future. I'm not saying we're talking about Pujols-level talent here, but either of these guys could be a useful reserve or platoon level role player.Gibbons and some the others, frankly, have had their chances.
But let's give these guys a look. If they aren't in the Orioles' future, cut the strings and move on.
