Last night I was watching MASN's replay of the game where Cal tied Gehrig's record. The inning after the game became official, the cameras kept panning to Cal sitting in the dugout. Sitting right next to him and chatting his ear off for a very long time was a happy, animated Mike Mussina, looking very much like a high school kid.

I recently saw Moose interviewed and he was saying how, when he looks back on his career, once of the most memorable things was how lucky he was to have Cal playing behind him for the first 10 years of his career. BTW, he could have said, "...and then to have Derek Jeter playing behind me." But, he didn't.

Moose was always one of my favorite pitchers....you knew that if the O's were slumping a bit and they needed their ace to pull them out of that slump and give them a good start and a great chance to win, it was Mussina.

As Erik Bedard continues to grow leaps and bounds with each start, I start to see that in him...but Mike will always be one of my favs, regardless of whether he's now wearing Yankee pinstripes or not.

Agreed.

Yet, part of me is still happy that his career didn't go as well in NY as it was in B-more and he hasn't won a WS yet. Serves him right.

But I loved watching him pitch while he was here. He was my favorite.

I kinda feel that way too, MM. He is still one of my all-time favorite players, though.

Watching that game last might brought back some good memories. I still remember watching the games when he tied and broke the record. I was in 6th grade!

If we are able to, I wouyld love to see Mussina come back & finish his career as an Oriole.

He did a great job for the O's, & needs to come back.

Don't worry, Mussina will once again wear the black and orange when he's about 40 and unable to keep his ERA under 6.00. BUT, he'll pack the yard everytime he pitches.

Poor Moose never had good run support, the guy would give up one run and not get a win. When does he become a free agent?
