I hate Drew Carey for some reason. Never could stand him even though he seems like a decent guy though he is from Cleveland.

He's immensely anti-Ravens, anti-Modell, and anti-Baltimore. Three thumbs down on TiVo for the Price Is Right.

I don't really blame him for being anti-Ravens and anti-Modell. After all, a lot of Ravens fans (including myself) are still anti-Colts and anti-Irsay.

I like Drew and I liked his show...but all I really want to say is, thank God they didn't choose Rosie O' Donnell.

I was a fan of his show as well, I like his comedy. And as for him hating the Ravens, well, we hate the Colts, so fair is fair in my opinion. He's a big Cleveland sports fan, and as Baltimore sports fans, we can certainly see where he's coming from.

I think the difference is with Carey is that I've heard him bash Baltimore because of it. I've never heard a Baltimorean bash the city of Indy for Irsay's crap. Not really. But I've seen Carey get quite caustic at the city itself because of what went down with the Browns.

Fair enough, I was not aware of that. Whatever, much like the Barry Bonds argument, i don't have to like the guy, but he's entertaining.

Do you recall what he's said and/or where he's said it?
It must eat him up that the Raven's obliterate his team nearly every year. :D

I've seen it a couple of times, but the time I remember it the most was right after the Ravens won the Super Bowl. I understand that's gonna be a bitter period, but again...attack Modell, not Baltimore.

Agreed. However, he might've been responding to Baltimore fans that were rubbing the Super Bowl win in the face of Cleveland fans. Sadly, there was some of that going on. There were a lot of Indy fans who jumped on Roch's blog and acted similary after the Ravens-Colts playoff game, so I can sympathize with his resentment.
Anyway, I apologize for playing devil's advocate. I seriously don't mean to. Heh.

I understand, I do it too sometimes.
Somewhat friendly trash talk is one thing, but Carey was being a bit personal.

Not to turn this into a football thread, but... the Colts rub it in Baltimore's faces every single day by keeping the team name and colors! You don't see us playing as the Baltimore Browns. Also, Paul Tagliabue promised Cleveland an expansion team almost immediately, whereas he chose Carolina and Jacksonville, two places with almost no football tradition, over Baltimore, which had waited for 20+ years. I've hated almost every one of his movies, and now I have additional incentive to dislike him!

I'll never forget that Tagliabue said (laughing as he did) that the city of Baltimore should go out and build a museum, after Jacksonville and Carolina were awarded expansion teams. I think a lot of his issues with the city stemmed from his friendship with Jack Kent Cooke.
It was nice to see Tagliabue forced to eat some crow at the 2001 Super Bowl. :D

And yes, it is a crock that Artie Donovan, Johnny Unitas, etc., are in the Football Hall of Fame as Indianapolis Colts. *sigh*

While I like Drew Carey, I'm not sure this is the best gig for him. He just doesn't seem like Penske...er, The Price is Right material. I guess we'll see what happens.

He's been out of the spotlight so long, I think anything would be a good career move at this point.

I've never found Drew Carey entertaining, and he's certainly a far cry from the gentlemanly grace of Bob Barker. The show obviously will never be the same.

I didn't think Drew Carey was the right guy for the job but this is just freaky.

Carey is ok, I guess he'll do fine on the Price, but for some odd reason I always thought that Mario Lopez was the perfect choice. No idea why; he just seems like he could croon like Barker.

Score one for Drew Carey:
"In the year 2000, America will know this is not your dad's 'Price is Right' when I announce the new game Two in the Plinko, One in the Stinko."
-As heard on Late Night with Conan O'Brien

lol ... ummm, yeah, I'm not too sure about that. Mario Lopez + many attractive women who do nothing but stand around = eventual sex scandal. lol Seriously, are you trying to get that guy in trouble?? That'd be like hiring an alcoholic to be a bartender. :D
Is it safe to call him this generations' Scott Baio? :p
