Is the front office even in negotiations with Wieters and Boras? I would like to see him in the minors by the end of the season. The faster that he gets into the minors the faster he will move up to the majors. I think even the last month of the minor league season is important to get Wieters ready for next year and to know his capabilities in the the majors.

The only thing that matters is that we sign him. Boras clients don't usually sign until the last minute.

That, IMO is the worst thing to do. It is just slowing down their development. He may get more for the initial signing bonus but might force their next paday back a few years.

A few weeks isn't going to set him back a few years. Not signing at all will set him back which makes it in his best interest to get Wieters signed.

If he signed a month ago he might already be in single or double a right now and could be ready for the majors by the middle of next year. If he doesnt sign till the offseason he will most likely not be up till 2009 at the earliest.

If he doesn't sign in the next few weeks he won't be an Oriole. The deadline to sign is August 15th.

How many drafted hitters were in AA seven weeks after being drafted?

It doesn't matter what we want because it takes two to make a deal and Boras is going to take it to the wire.

If we sigh Wieters is he eligible to go to the Arizona Fall league?I believe if a player is on a AA roster at season end then he can be assigned to an AFL roster.

I'd love to have Wieters playing right now, but as long as we get him signed, I'll be happy.

No way they put in AA even for a cup of coffee. Guess Arizona is out of the question. Thanks for the info.

I believe every organization can send one guy who doesn't have any time at AA or higher........

From Wikipedia.........
Most are AA and AAA Minor League players. Each club can opt to send one player considered a Class A player. Only one foreign player is allowed, but only if that player does not come from a region that participates in winter ball.
