Going today against Binghamton, Liz went 6 innings allowing just two hits and one earned run while walking 3 and striking out 10.

For the season, Liz has now pitched 116.1 IP, allowing just 83 hits but 61 walks. However, he has struckout 131 batters and allowed just 9 HR's in 21 starts. His ERA now stands at 3.25.

Time for a promotion?

Time for a trade! :)

I think he's our best pitching prospect, except for maybe Olson.

I'd package him with Cabrera (whom I don't think will ever blossom into the Ace people would like him to be) for a premium Bat. Texeira from Texas, who desparately needs pitching, might be decent fit.

Liz is the minor league Cabrera. He's downright dominant right now and the only thing holding him back at all is the walks which are still somewhat out of hand.

Personally I'm quite excited by how he's figured out AA after an adjustment period early on. He's progressed better than I'd hoped for and he's looking at being on the Major league radar next year.

Trading him now would be doing so before we really know what we've got.

another Sidney Ponson (minus the bad attitude).

So dump him on some other unsuspecting team and try to get a Real Solid all-star.

The linking of Cabrera and Liz is interesting-similar makeup. I've done it myself. There are those who say that Cabrera should be a reliever, too.

Liz > Erbe?

I'm interested in this.

Interesting question. I think Liz certainly has more value as a prospect right now. He's safer, based on age and experience, and the upside of both is probably pretty close. Considering Erbe's struggles and Liz coming on strong, I think Liz has passed Erbe on the O's prospect list. JMO

Right now, I would agree too.

There are no "unsuspecting teams". They've been watching him closely, too.

The difference between him and Ponson is that Liz has spent more time honing his craft in the minors, and is interested in working to improve rather than be a knuclehead.

Cabrera and Ponson= hard throwing right handed pitchers with poor control, no reliable off-speed pitch, who seem capable of so much more than they deliver.
