I know he was a little old to be a prospect but he did have 24 homers and 84 RBI's last season in Frederick. I THOUGHT I saw the O's had re-signed him this past offseason. This season I can't find him anywhere, on any team. Is he hurt or simply at the end of the road?

He was injured through Spring Training, but I don't know what they finally did with him.

Jason is home is California having a successful recovery. The injury in ST proved to be more serious than first thought.

What was the injury?

I was rooting for the boy. Somehow he became one of my favorites.

Jason's an all around good guy ...definitely one of my favorites that has been in the organization. I spoke to him about a week and a half ago and he said that he had good news and bad news. "Bad news...my career's over, good news....i'm enjoying my summer in cali." as much as i hate to admit it i don't think we'll b seeing anymore baseball out of this guy. but if he does make a comeback....i'll be rooting for him all the way.

Does anyone remember what specifically the injury was? I know when the O's promoted everyone to Frederick in May, somewhere around the same time Fransz attended a game in Frederick and was noticeably limping around the stadium.

Not sure but he did have a nagging leg injury before he came to the Orioles from the Rangers I believe it was.

Yes. It took him awhile before he could run right in the field and on the bases. This was the other knee. In ST, I was watching him run the distance around the outfield with the others. He pulled up lame and was treated by the trainers. It looked as if they were more worried about his hamstring. I thought it was just a minor injury. Near the end of ST, after seeing him in white stockings all spring, we chatted a little about the seriousness of the injury. He said it was his knee (I don't remember if he said mcl, acl or what) Later this season, I asked one of the minor league brass how he was doing. I was surprised to lern that he was home in California recovering from the operation and was expected to be ready next season.
