....but DAMN, we have a good front office. Year after year we get middle to low round picks who wind up being major contributors, from Adalius Thomas to Dawan Landry. And now, in this draft, we pick up Prescott and Burgess, mid-round LBs who look like the real thing; we use next year's 5th to get Gaither. A few years ago our longterm situation on the offensive line looked bad, and using only one 1st round pick we've managed to pick up Chester, Brown, Terry, Gaither, Grubb, and Yanda. Keydrick Vincent was starting for us a few years ago, now he's playing in the 3rd quarter of the first exhibition game.
Ozzie Newsome and DeCosta and all the scouts have such an incredible eye for talent.
The contrast between the way this front office runs the team and the way the Orioles are run is so stark it's almost laughable.

The other thing that they have that gets overlooked are brilliant coaches.
They put these guys in position to succeed and are so good at focusing on strengths.
Top to bottom, this organization is as good as it gets.

Seriously, I do believe that the coaching and the front office is amongst the best in the league, right up there with New England. However, it is a shame that the team hasn't had a playoff win since 2001.
You'd think that a team with this much talent, on the field, on the sidelines and in the front office would at least have another SB victory by now.
And it should have been won last year.

Seriously, I do believe that the coaching and the front office is amongst the best in the league, right up there with New England. However, it is a shame that the team hasn't had a playoff win since 2001.
You'd think that a team with this much talent, on the field, on the sidelines and in the front office would at least have another SB victory by now.
And it should have been won last year.
New England's exploits notwithstanding, winning a Super Bowl is not nearly as easy or simple as having a very talented team/coaching staff/front office. You need a lot of things to go your way to win it all.........many of which are out of anyone's control and are simply a matter of fate. There are several teams that could look back over the years and lament that they should have won a SB and never did. We at least got to taste the glory once recently. And with the people this franchise has in place we should at least have the opportunity to do so in coming years..........and for that alone I am thankful.

As long as we don't keep dumping our aggressive defensive game plans for big games. If that continues we're going to keep getting frustrated every year.

Yeah, that and Billick's play calling. A few games last year the offense lacked any imagination and was about as predictable/vanilla as Friedgen's "don't turn the ball over" Terps offense.
I got tired of Jamal stutter stepping as the hole closed up. I hated seeing McNair not be able to accurately throw short passes and underthrow the long ones. I really hope the offense gets better this season.

Outside of injuries, there's no reason the offense shouldn't be better. I think they could be a top 10 offense.
