Just reported on ESPN. He hired 2 attorneys to sue people who have defamed his name in public. Like sportswriters and Curt Shilling.
I applaud him. Go get em Barry.

Barry Bonds vs. the World.
That's about what it'll be.

He will prolly have a case. I mean it wont be hard to find evidence of people defaming him in public w/o proof. Especially the Tax evasion part.

Will he? Like oriole119 already said, this would be pretty much most/all of the national media. Also, is it really defamation if there's a good chance that most/all of the comments are true? Wouldn't it then be on Barry to prove that he's not on 'roids??

LOL.
He has no case.
Let's see if he actually goes through with it.
Palmeiro was going to sue Jose too.
Probably just more "roid rage" from Barry.

Barry's a tool. Whatever.

Ahaha, they can't get him on defamation of character because whether it was intentional or not, he DID use PED's.
I really hope the court's time isn't wasted in a tedious semantical argument about whether it's defamation of character to suggest he did it intentionally.

Funny how he decides to take this public after he breaks the record. Classic Barry though. It's all about Barry in case you forgot.
I was really hoping he would just retire after breaking the record. I'm so sick of hearing his name. I guess there are a few more career records he needs to try to selfishly break.

I think he's about half a season away from 3000 hits. I'm sure that's the reason he wants to play one more year.

Okay, your public worship of Bonds is getting really tiresome.

Hmmm... Bonds vs. Schilling. Two of my favorites. Is there a way they can both lose that lawsuit and have to give all their money to charity?? :D

If by "charity" you mean "lawyers," then yes. Of course, you don't mean that. ;)

If Bonds tried to sue the authors of A Game of Shadows, then that would get my attention. That is by far the most damning and unambiguous portrayal of Bonds' history with PEDs. If Bonds was serious about fighting through the courts to clear his name, then that's the obvious place to start.
The current public perception of Bonds is largely attributable to (or at least greatly supported by) that book. Go straight to the source if you truly mean business here. Anything short of that, though, is just frivolous posturing that should be ignored (and quite possibly punished).

Bonds Ticked At Schilling, Threatens Lawsuit (http://www.thebostonchannel.com/sports/13896081/detail.html)
Vaguely reminiscint of OJ's pledge to find the real killer(s).

Nope, not lawyers. Now if "charity" meant "urban planners" then we'd be talking. :002_sbiggrin:

He might, might, have a shot if he hires Jackie Chiles.

What about the Tax evasion part, they might not be able to get peeps who accused him of PED's but people who said he cheated on his taxes could be in trouble.
What about the writers who took it to far and called him things that having nothing to do with PED's. It hasnt gotten bad lately. People treat him like he isnt human and they are doing in a public forum.
I would love to see Schilling get sued.

Bonds is a public figure, which means that you can get away with saying almost anything about him. It would be an incredibly hard case for him to win.

Bonds has no case, this is absolutely ridiculous. Its a fact that he used steroids, so thats not anything he can sue for. If he tries to persue this it'll just lead to more evidence of him juicing coming out, so I guess I kinda hope he goes through with it.

He's just trying to influence people to think twice about exposing anything else about him. There is no way this actually leads anywhere - there is no way that Bonds is going to want to follow through w/the discovery process going to court would entail.

Come on, pug. Touch me and I'll sue.
