Cool article...Why did the Yankees not just let the Padres have Igawa and havew them pay all of his salary?

The deal is 5/20 which makes him cheap if he ever gets it together. I guess the Yanks figure at some point they can get something for him as he could project to a number four, and at 4 million a year thats quite a value. But by how horrible he's been, its weird that the Yanks wouldn't just say good-bye and thank you to the Padres. I guess the Yanks think he can come around and get something for him. Has anyone seen how well he has done in the minors?

I think this is right, he's seemed to fix some mechanical issues he had earlier on and is pitching decently in AAA. They probably figure it's too early to just flat out give up on him.

Yeah, quite remarkable stats. The Granderson DP stat is very impressive as well. It's quite frustrating seeing how good Ramirez is considering we probably could have gotten him for our own SS.
