I'm on my phone so I'll have to ninja edit a quote in here.

New England Patriots strong safety Rodney Harrison has been suspended for the first four regular-season games after violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, the league said early Saturday.

The 34-year-old Harrison, suspended without pay, will be eligible to return to the Patriots' active roster following the team's Oct. 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He acknowledged the suspension in a late Friday night conference call, admitting that he obtained human growth hormone but said that he had never taken steroids.

"I want to make it clear," Harrison said, "that never once did I take steroids. I did admit to the commissioner that I took a banned substance."

The league issued a statement late Friday night confirming that Harrison is suspended without pay for four games, effective immediately.

Harrison said that his actions stemmed from his desire to "accelerate the healing process" from his various injuries the past two seasons.

Isn't that like Bill Clinton admitting to smoking Cannabis, but "I never inhaled".

The sad thing is that this will probably not effect them too much as they have played many games with him injured.

I remember him being picked off the scrap heap by them...and then being considered a really good pick up because he was so much better than people thought.

Harrison out 4 games...Seymour out the first 6.

The Pats only kept 2 of their draft picks.

They play 3 playoff teams in those first 6 games i believe.

This is the kind of thing that drives me nuts about the press MLB gets for roids. Guys like Merriman and Harrison get suspended for 25% of the season for roids, and it really doesn't get that much press. Merriman even comes back and wins the defensive player of the year, did he not? Can you imagine the press if a MLB player got popped for that many games and came back to win an award in the same season? Or, as in Harrison's case, what if he came back and (more than likely) helps his team go deep in the playoffs?

So many want to act like roids is a problem exclusive to baseball, and they like to give a pass to the guys getting popped in other sports.

The only reason they care about steroids in the game is historical. The reason its such a big deal in baseball and not the other sports is simply because numbers are cherished so much more in baseball than any other sport. People don't want sacred baseball records falling to players who may be "cheating" in some people's minds.

So if Merriman topped the sack record people would care?

I just think the sports media as a whole is afraid to badmouth precious football.

That's part of it, but it also doesn't hurt that the NFL had a much better system in place compared to MLB when all the hoopla began. If we knew beyond a shadow of doubt that the NFL's premier player (Peyton Manning) was a steroid user but faced no sanction or penalties for it I believe the criticism would be just as harsh towards him as it is for Bonds.

Bonds would face penalties if he was caught. Just like Merriman did when he was caught. Other baseball players get caught, just not him. I'm sure we could all speculate about some NFL players who are on roids since they are all giants. I'm not denying that Bonds is on the juice, but I'm just sick of hearing about it like MLB is the only sport with steroid users.
