The Terps are looking pretty good so far! They've given up a few big plays and that costly turnover to start the game, but they bounced back from that to get a score of their own. It looks like they're having some success running the ball if they can keep this up they might have a shot.

Well they need to play a little better D. But that is how it goes when you play an O this powerful.

Yeah, allowing a few big plays here and there but nothing that has killed them yet.
I'd like to see Fridge let Steffy open it up a little more, his passing game doesn't look bad.

I am interested to see what type of plays they run on this drive. Obviously they can pound the ball and be patient. I don't know if they have enough time to do that this drive though. It would be nice to get Heyward-Bey involved.

That was a bonehead play right there!

It also seems like they're having more success running the football with Lattimore than Ball.

Yeah, Fridge needs to ditch his split time between Lattimore and Ball and go with the hot hand. We need a heavy dose of Lattimore in the second half.

They've been pretty fortunate to contain White and Slaton so far. We're going to have to have some things go our way to have a shot here.
Agree that we need to start taking some shots downfield, too.
BTW, how funny was Ray Lewis' commentary? "No, no, throw the out!"
Another BTW -- is it me, or is this the longest halftime ever?

Things aren't looking too well now. I'm tired and got work in the morning so that's all I'll watch for the night.

End of the 3rd, I think the defense has done about all you can ask. Really dissappointed we can't get more a downfield game going.

Jordan Steffy is not good.

I thought the game plan was unwise. I thought he looked okay, they just never let him get into a rhythm throwing the ball. I think they'd of been much more successful coming out of the gates trying to exploit WVU's weakness by throwing the ball.

The offense might possibly have more success, but then WV would've scored about 50 points. MD had no chance of winning a track meet. They had to try to play ball control and hope they could make the plays when they needed to, and they couldn't.

Good game by Maryland, they played it a lot closer than I thought it would be. But it's still hard to stop the tandem of Slaton/White/Devine. You saw the future tonight with Noel Devine. What a weapon to have. You get your star rest and the "backup" averages 27.2 yards/carry. Not to mention that our defense looked really good tonight. But well played game overall on both sides.

I liked what I saw out of Steffy myself.... did not think we had the best game plan to maximize our chances.
That said, give WVU credit... White, Slaton, Devine, the FB, and the WR are a lot to game-plan against.
He has Joel Statham Disease hold the ball untill someone hits you when you have speed.

I echo your sentiment exactly (http://www.orioleshangout.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1049220&postcount=3). I think Friedgen must have put Brian Billick on the other end of his head phones after the 1st Qtr. And Billick wanted to atone for his gaffes on Monday night by running the ball almost exclusively, despite the fact that attacking downfield and then running the ball occasionally was clearly working for MD early in the game.

From what I could tell, that game was a LOT closer play-wise then 31-14.
However, if you keep giving WVU chances without scoring yourself, eventually they will score points. And I mentioned that Devine freak in the other thread :p
I thought Steffy looked good. The gameplan was probably skewed a little TOO much towards the run, but when he passed he looked like he'll be pretty good.

It's time for the NFL to end its stupid age rule and allow all players who have completed one year of college to declare for the draft. Then the Ravens should draft Devine and make him their kick returner next year.

Yeah, even on his completions, he held the ball too long, like 5-7 seconds.
