Billick announced that Steve McNair will be the starter for the Cardinals game.
Ravens coach Brian Billick said after today's practice in Owings Mills that Steve McNair will start at quarterback Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at M&T Bank Stadium.
Also in the article, it states that Billick doesn't sound too optimistic about Ogden playing.
Billick wasn't as hopeful about tackle Jonathan Ogden, who also came out of the game against the Bengals. Ogden, returning from a hyperextended toe last season, sprained his left foot. Ogden sat out the game against the Jets as well.
"It won't be this week, but he's progressing,'' Billick said.

Hate to say it but I think McNair should be on a short leash. Especially if he keeps his level of play from the last 3 games.

You can't judge McNair on the Cinci game IMO.
Let's just see how he does.

Smart move. As stated above, keep him on a short leash. If he shows the injured groin is still bothering him and is affecting his play still yank him for Boller. Boller at home against a very average secondary should end in some good results. However a healthy and prepared McNair should put up some good numbers and win this game pretty easily IMO as well.
I wouldn't have been against keeping McNair out another week and letting Boller start this game again and bringing McNair back in two weeks against the Browns in Cleveland.

SG, as we've said, it wasn't just one game. McNair played poorly against the Bills, Colts and Bengals.
However, nothing wrong with McNair starting again. He deserves to -- as long as he is completely healthy. Just be cautious.

This is what i think they should have done.
I do not play McNair unless the groin is 110% healthy.

Yeah, at this point in McNairs career his legs pretty much got to be 100% healthy to be effective. With healthy legs he gives us the best chance to win because of his pocket awareness and ability to escape the pocket and keep plays alive. With a groin thats only 80% or so he loses that ability to escape and his accuracy on intermediate passes becomes very medicore and he becomes a very average pocket passer.
I think that was his problem in the Cincy game, he just couldn't escape the pocket and was trying to force everything from the pocket. If he is still hurting he should let Boller take it again this week.

Yea, i don't think you can judge McNair on what he did in Cinci.
But he does need to step it up....He does need to play better overall.
He showed some good zip on the ball in that game.
I do think the offense may be better with Boller but McNair deserves and has earned the right to see what he can do right now.

That about sums it up for me too. Its amazing how polarized this board is; seems like everyone is either vehemently against Boller or vehemently against McNair.

I'm sure Billick would not be risking McNair if he didn't think he was ready to go at 100%. Especially this early in the year against one of our weaker opponents.

Not for me. Nick Novak is still God, but I think there's a position open for Associate Christ.
