What is friggin' going on with them! I have the 2 disk at a time, and I live in Stewartstown PA. Which is just south of Harrisburg PA. Which is 1 days mailing to me and back to them.
In my queue
1 - Foyles War: Set 3, Disk 1, Availabilty = Now
2 - Foyles War: Set 3, Disk 2, Availabilty = Now
3 - Foyles War: Set 3, Disk 3, Availabilty = Now
4 - Foyles War: Set 3, Disk 4, Availabilty = Now
So.....
- I returned The Last King of Scotland and they shipped Star Trek The Motion Picture, from Harrisburg PA
- I returned The Blitz, London's Longest Night and they shipped Orioles Legend, Cal Ripken Disk 5, from Richmond VA
- I returned Star Trek The Motion Picture and they shipped Orioles Legend, Cal Ripken Disk 6, from Santa Ana CA
- I returned Orioles Legend, Cal Ripken Disk 5 and they shipped Pearl Harbor, Before and After Disk 2, from Santa Ana CA
Huh! WTF is going on. It's bad enough they bypassed 4 disks that were available, 4 times, they shipped BOTH new disks all the way across country from friggin' Santa Ana CA!
I dig around their website and get a telephone to call and complain and the first thing out of the CSR mouth was they shipped the first available movie. BULL, and when asked what about they are coming from California, she said that's where they were only available from. BULL again. Ok, maybe one, I could see, maybe but doubtful. The furthest I have ever received a movie from was I believe Illinois.
I asked when does my current payment pay up to because Netflix is not the ONLY game in town and Blockbuster Video online is just fine as I had them in the past. She said October 13th and when I continue to complain she said she would send me out 1 courtesy disk, and it will be Foyles War Disk 1. I said your shipping 2 new disk all the way across country and her reply was that all she could do was send out 1 free courtesy desk, but that she will send off an email to the Corporate office and that I should hear back in 3 days.
Well, here is what I plan on doing...
I'm going to send all three movies back to Harrisburg PA when they arrive. I am not going to send the others back to California. And if I'm not satisfied with the email I get back the Corporate Office... bye, bye Netflix.
I've been a member since December 2003!

Blockbuster rocks! I've had them for 2 years, and I've got no complaints. Being able to trade online rentals for free in-store rentals is the greatest thing ever. I order Bluray and HD titles online, and let the kids pick out kids movies in-store with the trade-ins...

I've only had an issue with Netflix once, and that was a few weeks ago when it took a few days or so to ship my Wire DVDs.
Perhaps those came from California also but other than that I have no complaints.

Check your email notifying you that they shipped it. If it doesn't state where it's coming from, than it's you regular shipping location.

I've been a member for five years. I've really only experienced one major problem and that was being sent the wrong movie. I've had some movies arrive late, but that's something that should be expected occasionally. Their service has been especially great during the past six months or so. I can't remember the last time I've had a movie arrive late.

Blockbuster Total Access... you can take it to the store and get the next movie on your list.
I have never understood the appeal of Netflix and having to return movies and wait for the next one.

I used to do Netflix awhile back. It was cool, but I never felt like I got my money's worth. I felt like I was never able to find time to watch the movies and felt like I wouldn't get enough rentals per month. So I quit and now I just buy movies used.

The problem is finding that obscure movie that you want to watch. I'm a big Foyle's War (http://www.foyleswar.com/) (BBC) fan and trying to find it at a decent price is not an option, especially for something that I may never watch again.

Netflix has about 48239 times the variety of movies that the brick-and-mortar stores have. Try going to your local blockbuster and finding something obscure, say some old Werner Herzog (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065436/). Good luck.
I guess if all you watch is newer, bigger budget stuff you're alright.

Blockbuster Total Access is Blockbuster Video Online (just like Netflix) and when your done watching it, you can take the movie back to any Blockbuster store (or mail it if you choose) and they will credit the return right than, and they'll ship your next DVD in your queue. You ALSO get a free rental from the store when you return your DVDs to the store. It really is a good deal.
I had both Netflix and Blockbuster Online (when you have teenagers, it helps). The selection from Blockbuster Online is just like Netflix...

That's fine, but I was responding to the question of why you'd want to wait around for movies to come by mail when you could just go to Blockbuster.

Obviously I must really be lost... you still have access to the old Werner Herzog films, which you can get through the mail from Blockbuster Video Online. You can just take the movie back to any Blockbuster store and get a free rental from the store. While you wait for next shipment from online.
I've been with Netflix for about a year now and I haven't had any problems. Two times I got a disc that was too scratched to play, but I just returned it and they shipped a good copy back to me right away. I love Netflix. I have the 3 at a time, unlimited package. It works out so that I constantly have a movie to watch. Rarely ever do I find myself waiting for something to come in.

Quick check on e-bay show they have each season for about 38 bucks or so.

So, which should I get: Blockbuster or Netflix online? Which plan would you recommend? Don't watch a crazy amount of movies during the school year and don't want to pay too much--going to the Blockbuster store is a nice option and now Netflix is trying to let you download and watch them on your computer to counter that. Any recommendations? Which plan do you have?

Sorry, I was really just trying to compare any online service to any brick-and-mortar store. The main advantage is selection, IMO. Plus you never have to go to the store. Blockbuster obviously has an advantage if you live near one and you go there a lot - mine is not close to my normal route to work, so pre-Netflix I'd go out of the way to get a movie there about twice a year.
For the number and type of movies I typically watch I don't need the store option. Others obviously differ.

If you're too lazy to want to drive to the store, like me, then Netflix is a good choice. They have good prices IMO and you can watch movies right on the computer. I have the 3 at a time, unlimted plan for 16.99 a month (I think) and I watch at least 12 movies a month, so that works for me. Plus I like the 5 star rating system on Netflix and if I switch over to Blockbuster I would lose almost 1000 ratings... But I'm sure they're pretty similar and Blockbuster online offers the first 2 months for free I think. You can't go wrong either way IMO.

Ive been a little afraid to try to these by mail DVD services. I worry about the DVDs being stolen from my mailbox and that I would be charged for them.

Do you live in the little-known Bel Air shantytown slums, where gangs of DVD-stealing thugs roam among the huddling, terrified masses?
I don't think you have anything to worry about. If the unlikely case of a DVD being stolen or lost happens you can report it and they'll send you a new one. I don't think they get suspicious unless it starts happening all the time.
One time I reported to Netflix that a movie hadn't arrived after a week or so, and they immediately sent me a new one. While that was in transit I realized my wife had gotten the mail one day and the first movie had already arrived. Netflix just told me to return both of them and everyone went on their happy way.

Bel Air has been known to face attacks from mailbox-pillaging vikings.

I had Netflix and BB at the same time for about two months, just to see which one satisfied me more. I'm still with Netflix, so that should indicate which one I found to be the better of the two. In those two months, none of my Netflix DVDs arrived late, while four from BB arrived days after they were supposed to. Hell, two of those four were shipped from the *store* just two miles from my house. BB also had a terrible knack for skipping movies in my queue, despite the fact they were listed as 'Available.' In my four years with Netflix, that hasn't happened once.

Shipped from the store? I had both before and Blockbuster never shipped me a disk shipped from a store. They were, for 99% of the time shipped out of Gaithersburg MD. I'm not sure how old this list (http://www.idolme.com/rentals.php) is, but it contains a listing of Netflix and Blockbuster Distribution Centers. Despite my recent problems with Netflix, there is no difference in the two in shipping and receiving from either one. They both have the same selection with the exception in that Blockbuster does have some exclusivity, like The Weinstein Co. DVD rentals. So if there is a movie by them. You can only get it from Blockbuster. Both arrive within 1 day of them shipping and draw from the Queue normally. Blockbuster deos allow you to return your DVD to a store and get a free rental right than and Netflix has movie downloads (with MS Internet Explorer only).
The only reason why I dropped Blockbuster, was my kids weren't using Netflix and I been with Netflix since 2003. My kids used Netflix while I used Blockbuster.
BTW - It's day 3 and still no word from Netflix's Corporate Office on the email complaint that was sent to them, and unless they can guarantee me that I will be receiving my DVDs out of Harrisburg PA instead of Santa Ana CA, its bye, bye, Netflix on October 13th, after being with them for almost 4 years.

So you're unable to stay perched at the box 24/7 to fend off those vicious mailbox pillagers? Maybe you should hire a mailbox security guard.
The alternative is to get a pair of binoculars. Then you can get a heads up when you see what looks like a suspicious vehicle slowly approaching your mailbox to fend them off with a baseball bat.

I love your idea:D It would give me a good reason to buy another baseball bat.
