My 9 year old son traded in a shload of games Friday evening and picked up Guitar Hero II and the guitar. At first I thought, "How much fan can that be? I mean, dots come flying at you telling you which buttons to push. Boring." He and his buddy asked me to take a turn and since then I can't put it down. I think they've managed to find a way to administer heroin through that toy guitar. It's...calling me...as I type this...

This game scares me. SquEEze's daughter especially is into it. Her son too. I have played for real for 40 of my 45 years... and I somehow know I'm gonna get wasted by these two upstarts. :p

I don't play for real (except for air guitar...I own your face on the air axe!), but one element of realism seems to be that you change frets when the chord changes even on the easiest level.
And yes, fear the children. They will devour you and probably taunt. "I thought you played a REAL guitar, Scott? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" :D

I've actually found that playing the guitar for real makes it harder to play the game. Especially if you know how to play the song you're on in the game.

Man, I just got this last week, and it's one of the most fun games I've ever played.

I love the game too. I also have the "80's" on PS2. I'm getting OK playing on hard. Hard is fun and doable, but some of the solos are insane.
I have all of the systems, and I'm really torn as to which version to get III for. PS3 seems logical, because that will get me a wireless guitar so I can finally play II on the PS3. But the nice stereo is tied to the 360 in the basement. It's one of those games that's obviously fun to play loud!

I'm much more excited about this than Guitar Hero 3.
BTW, I loved the first 2 Guitar Heros. Very addicting.

Guitar Hero's great. I don't play it often, but it's a lot of fun.
I'm torn on Rock Band. My friend who would play this are scattered out of the area. I doubt I'd have the people to really make this worth getting. But it does look cool.

I love me some Guitar Hero. Unfortunately each release has gotten worse, at least in terms of song list. The 80's one is pretty terrible save for a few tracks. The first two were both really good though, and GH3 has an amazing set-list. Gotta love the Trogdor on the 2nd one as well.
I still haven't beaten Play With Me on expert on the 80's one, although I haven't played in a while. I've beaten everything else on all the discs. My current conquest is to 5-star all the songs on 80's on Hard. I've got everything but Play With Me, which I think is the hardest song thats been on any GH game so far.

I'm going to have to go pick up the 360 this weekend. My fiancee bought the Wii for me a month or so ago. I like the Wii okay but it's more geared towards kids I think. It just seems as though the 360 has many more cool games that I would be in to.
