Very interesting, and still just a rumor, but sounds like it may be legit. MS and Bungie have decided to part, but MS Holds onto rights for the Halo Series. As I said, still only a rumor. Guess we'll find out for sure on Oct 6th.

Here's an article on it, and below that is the source (link also available in the article).

Wow, that would be a huge blow to MS if it turns out to be true. The last thing in the world I'd want to see would be Halo game not done be Bungie.

I'm getting nightmarish images of Brett Ratner just thinking about it.

GameSpot has already debunked this story.

It'd be pretty hard for Microsoft and Bungie to part ways, considering Bungie is owned by Microsoft.

It's happened before though. Nintendo used to own Rare and they eventually sold Rare to Microsoft.

Wasn't Microsofts old XSN Sports sold to 2K Games? I know 2K has the rights to the Links and Amped series. (by the way, 2K, PLEASE MAKE A NEW LINKS GAME, I can't stand the Tiger Woods games!)

Looks like there was some truth to it all after all.

Not sure what to think about this, but I'm pretty sure I don't like it. From previous comments, it seems that Bungie will still mostly be making games for the 360. While they do high quality work, they are still a small company so if they start a new game or IP, that almost assures that (IMO) MS will be passing Halo off onto another company. :(

I don't think it will be really all that bad for Bungie and Halo. I am sure that any future Halo games will still involve Bungie, with them being the lead studio. Most studios always work with others, like Bungie did with FASA (which now is gone I believe) on Halo 2 Vista. They also won't have MS micromanaging them anymore, so maybe this will turn out to be a good thing. I heard Bungie had a lot of input on the Halo Wars strategy game, and I am sure that will continue on all Halo games. I am sure they have other ideas for games, and when trying to get the go ahead from MS to work on them, I am sure the response is always HALO HALO HALO HALO. Halo is wholly a Bungie game, originally developed by Bungie for PC and Mac, which obviously didn't happen when MS bought them to have Halo as an exclusive at the launch of the Xbox. I guess only time will tell.

I don't know if this is good or bad... I would like to see Halo stay on XBox though.
