Ravens 13
SF 10

Much prefer to play Smith than Dilfer today.

We know that Dilfer isn't very mobile and won't really be able to beat us deep.

We need to get to him today.

The key for the game will be who can run the ball...The 49ers have a very good pass defense early on this year but i think they have been bad against the run.

McGahee needs to get 25+ carries today.....I would like to see us run the ball 35-40 times today.

I say we win 20-13.

Damn SG! You took my prediction. Ravens win 20-13.

I'm hoping last week was a wake up call. I'd really like to see the offense click this week.

The TV told me Steve McNair will start again...how many more bad games must he have until he is benched?

San Fransisco's offense is the cure Baltimore's defense needs. 21-9 Baltimore.

This is a game that the Ravens should win. A couple of questions:

If McNair shows any signs of being in pain, will Billick put in Boller?

With the TE position thin due to injury, will that change the game plan of Billick?

Ravens win 27 - 17.

First play of the Ravens drive, a false start penalty. Man this offense is dreadful to watch!

Doing a great impression of a ref calling "incomplete pass."

Oh, and gift wrapping the punter a good stat.

Is anyone watching this game? I don't have it on TV. Just GameCenter. Is our defense playing well or is SF just inept? Seems McGahee is getting alot of touches.

Anyone? Hello, anyone?

Adam Terry hurt -- Gaither in.

This could get real interesting.

Ravens driving for the first time all day, inside the 15, but I have a bad feeling we are gonna end up with a FG attempt.

Edit: Right after I post this, Mike Flynn is hurt. Do we have enough OL to go around with all these friggin injuries?!?!

Did anybody else hear the announcers say earlier in the game that Billick told them McNair needs a good 2 weeks of rest to get back to 100%? Why the hell doesn't Billick play Boller and give McNair that 2 weeks of rest?

Pedro Cerrano
10-07-2007, 05:19 PM
I'm fine with McNair doing the dink and dunks -- to an extent, simply because our defense looks good today and I'd rather not risk a bad INT.

Still, when we get this close, the play calling has to be better.

Yea, i thought the same thing.

McNair isn't throwing down field at all.....I know the 49ers are blitzing a lot and that we are without Heap and that Mason and Clayton are banged up but still, throw the freaking ball downfield!!!!

We have two hurt WR and one of them is being covered by maybe the best cover corner in the NFL. McNair has shown that he isn't exactly the most accurate passer downfield.

Why would you want to air it out like that when our D is playing so well in the first half?

The Wedge
10-07-2007, 05:47 PM
Mainly so the 49'ers defense doesn't just stop defending it (within reason) because they know we won't go downfield.

Pedro Cerrano
10-07-2007, 06:03 PM
Welp, that is why we don't throw downfield. Because generally the ball lands 5+ yards away from the intended receiver.

OregonBird

Sports Guy

2 big plays and the 49ers now have the momentum and are right back in the game.

MPK76
10-07-2007, 06:14 PM
There is plenty of time time left in this game, and it seems that San Fran has all the momentum. Billick needs to suck it up and start calling some more deep passes to keep the defense honest.

Sports Guy
10-07-2007, 06:20 PM
How is it that we are winning this game and yet McGahee only has 15 carries and McNair has thrown it 31 times??

Today, the Steelers won 21-0....Ben R threw 22 times and they ran the ball 40 times...Why aren't we doing this?

What the hell is wrong with this coaching staff?

You throw the ball over 30 times by the 3rd quarter when you have the lead and when you do throw it, you throw it for 2 yards?

What happened to the play calling from last year when Billick took over the reigns?

Sports Guy
10-07-2007, 06:21 PM
McNair cannot throw the ball deep anymore, he just can't.

We can throw up to 25 yards downfield and do it accurately...I believe his QB rating for passing up to that distance was around 100 last year.

I just don't think he can because of the groin.

HE SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING!!!!

We shut down an excellent RB on the road and, other than for two plays, made Trent Dilfer look like, well, Trent Dilfer.

Our offense needs to play better, plain and simple.

Agreed, defense looked good. just tired of watching Ray Ray/Reed try to level someone and not wrap, resulting in the guy scampering for another 5-6 yards.

I do think if this is any respectible offense except the Niners (Dilfer), we probably lose this game. Our offense is that big of a joke.

MPK76
10-07-2007, 06:57 PM
The Ravens ineptitude on offense can be blamed on one person, and that is Billick. He is afraid to sit McNair, who is hurting this team, in favor of a more than capable backup in Boller. He should be running the ball more, but he wants this team to be known as a pass first offense. This is all about Billick and his ego!!!

Darthy Katt

The Ravens had over 3 times more first downs, over 14 minutes in time of possession over the 49er's, almost twice as many yards as the 49er's, and only won by 2 points. This won't work against the better teams in the league. We were lucky to come out of here with a win. If this keeps up, we will be in for a long season....

Watch Billick try to blame his lame play calling and poor quarterback play on the injuries to the offensive line, and on the fact that Nolan knows the offense/personnel.

I've consistently given Billick the benefit of the doubt. But he's calling the plays, he's got a new running back, and he's finally got receivers that can catch. Why does his offense still suck?

Well, he'd have somewhat of a point on the line. But at this point, it's all excuses, really. Nothing he does really works on a long term basis. I'd expect his ass is cooked if this lasts all season. There's only so far his particular brand of BS can be spread, and he's already spread it around pretty damn thin.

Yea, they need to get healthy but Billick needs to step up right now.

McNair is not the best QB for this team right now. He may be 80% healthy but that isn't good enough.

I ask again...What is up with the game plan today? How are you winning the entire game and having your defense absolutely dominate the other team and still throw the ball over 40 times? Where is the logic there?

The only QBs to throw more than McNair today were Brees, Anderson and Frerotte...That's it and guess, all of those teams lost.

It is unbelievable how stupid the game plan was.

I don't think McGahee can handle more than 20-25 carries a game (he had 22+7 pass receptions.) I'm fine with McNair using the short pass as an alternative to running the ball 30 times a game, but we need to throw the damn ball more than 7 yards downfield once in a while. McNair can't seem to connect with his receivers at that distance. And that's sad for an NFL quarterback.
