Also Terrence Jennings is going to Louisville.

Seems like Maryland's recruiting has been better of late. I have no idea about the recruiting business, but thats what it seems like to me...

Here is some video on Kim.

Seems like there is some question if he is 2008 or 09?

Ive also seen conflicting reports on his height.. one says 6'7, one says 6'9.
My God, I hope that's from 5 years ago. Those kids look like they're in middle school.

From scout.com...

Kim came to the United States from Korea, not able to speak much English but incredibly adept at basketball. He's very skilled, and a big-time talent for his age. He was the best player on the Korean under-16 national team, and he'll have pressure to go pro right out of high school.

Hopefully he'll decide to stay in school. He has to go to one year of college though right, or are foreign players exempt from that rule?

I don't know how a 3 star high school prospect could have any success in the NBA though. Seems to me that it would be a poor choice to go pro after one year of school.

No chance this kid goes to the NBA out of high school. Maybe they meant pro somewhere else overseas but definitly not in the NBA. One look at this kids body tells you he would get killed in the NBA.

I will hold back comment until I hear more about his play. He is only going to be a junior this year. I just don't know though since we are supposed to be in good shape with so many high ranked '09 guys and we don't have a lot of ships to give out.

Also, according to Scout.com, the Terps have signed Ater Majok from Sudan. Some quotes:

Majok, a native of the Sudan who attends American International School in Carlington, Australia, would appear to represent a major addition for Maryland. He’s said to run the floor extremely well and possess polished post moves. He’s also said to be a major shot-blocking and dunking presence, and he has a 7 foot 3 inch wingspan. He has been touted as having NBA lottery pick potential.

Majok seemingly will be the second player in Maryland’s 2008 class, joining highly regarded Baltimore shooting guard Sean Mosley.

We are now becoming truly a United Nations of college basketball (maybe the O's could learn from Gary).

Shane Walker - Europe
Ater Majok - Africa/Australia
Greivis Vasquez - South America
Jin Soo Kim - Asia
everyone else - North America

Here's an article on Majok: http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,21855079-23769,00.html

I've also read that he had given a verbal to Baylor, so at least it seems we are on the good side of a de-committ here.

Awesome. After losing Jennings, the Terps really needed some good news.

Pretty interesting and funny read. Could someone please do the centimeter conversion to inches for me? I don't know if the kid is 7 inches tall or 7 feet tall.

I don't think he has any intention of going pro, but your comment brings up a point I'd like to make...which is that after the very best 10-15 prospects in the country (5-stars), recruiting rankings are often a crapshoot. The fact that Kim is rated 3-star despite all the glowing reviews of his game reflects that. He's really just being penalized for not playing in the AAU circuit...but not too many 17-YO 3-stars could compete and hold their own against the likes of Antawn Jamison, Elton Brand, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, and Carmelo Anthony. (Kim had 11 pts and 5 rebounds in 27 minutes in that 2006 WBC game, Korea vs USA).

Anyhow, I'm very excited about Kim, and if Majok commits as well it will be fun to see the international flavor over the next few years. Maybe the O's could learn something from this?

I just brought up the point about Kim potentially going pro because that is what it said on his Scout.com blurb. I don't think it is likely or possible either.

I thought Majok already gave his verbal commitment though? Are you talking about signing his LOI, because he hasn't done that yet? Neither has Kim, for that matter.
