View Full Version : We need to run the ball more

With the young line, questionable QB play across the board and now CMac going out, this team has to run the ball more.
We need to run 35-40 times a game...We have to run to keep the defense off of the QB and we also need to eat clock, especially with CMac out when we are playing the better passing teams.
I hope the Ravens make a better effort in getting Anderson more involved in the game.

More than likely the defense is going to put 8 in the box as St Louis was doing with the young offense line. McGahee only averaged 2.4 yards on 25 carries against the Rams, against a defense that was ranked 28th against the rush allowing 146 yards a game.
Buffalo is ranked 25th against the rush allowing 133.6 yards a game, but I don't see the offensive line doing much.

Even if we don't get big chunks of yards, we still need to run it right now and eat up clock...Heck, even this real short passing game/extension of the running game stuff would be effective right now.
The O-line will get healthier over the next few weeks as well.

I think McGahee had like 25 carries on Sunday - we weren't getting anywhere, but that's what we do... kick field goals, eat clock and beat you with our defense. It's akin to getting choked out by a python. Not very exciting to watch, but usually effective.

And that needs to continue but we also need to get Mike Anderson more in the game plan.
Let him and Musa get 10-15 carries a game as well....Be the Steelers...Throw 18-22 times and run it 40 times....No reason we can't do the same.

Yes, and Boller and McNair(when not with an ailing groin) are good at running the play action. We could get 2-3 long passes a game to Williams and Clayton. I think we coul be a 150-180 yards rushing per game if we used all three of our backs to their potential.
I would also like to see some formations where Anderson and Willis are in the game at the same time.
