Notes:
-Top 9 stays the same, all won, didn't see any reasons to change things around there.
-How about those Lions? Looks like Kitna's 10 game prediction wasn't crazy afterall.
-Nice comeback for the Browns, continue to do well since QB change.
-Had to drop the Skins a good deal even though the loss was expected, their offense has been really bad the last two games.
-Saints continue to look like their back in contention, although they've played bad teams the last two weeks.

Starting to settle in a little now that we are 8 weeks in.
Top 10 I like but I'd have slightly different positions.
-Pittsburgh ahead of the Giants. I know Ny has won 6 in a row but there is no doubt in my mind Pitt is the better team.
-I would definitely have SD ahead of Jacksonville. Jacksonville is average at best without Garrard. They will lose their next 3 games and I'm pretty confident saying that.
-Ok , so if Jacksonville is average at best what does that say about TB. They aren't very good. You've had them too high for 3-4 weeks now. They are 20th or so IMO. All the 4-3 teams along with NO and Philly I'd have above them. They have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way, lets see if they can prove me wrong and get to 9 wins. I wouldn't bet on that one.
-Oh and I think I mentioned a few weeks ago that I thought Campbell wasn't good enough. Again, I'm not watching Skins games real closely but just from what I see I don't think he has the feel to be a real good one. The physical tools are there but I'm not seeing the awareness, reading abilty, etc. He reminds me more and more of Boller everytime I see him.

I think the G-Men actually might be a better team than the Steelers. We will see when they play tougher teams coming up, but the G-Men are legit too. If one team is ahead of the other, its not by much.
I was really wrong about the Browns, very impressed by them this year.

I disagree. NY will fade like the seemingly do every year. Pittsburgh is gonna win the AFC North easily and I hate saying that.
Not a very good game for the Skins, but at least they won, and at least the running game got going. Somehow I don't think the Jets would make the playoffs if they switched conferences.:D
Speaking of conferences, the NFC is 5-1 against the AFC today, with Seattle beating the Browns in the 3rd quarter. Rather surprising results.

Well Hell, if the Jets wouldn't make it if they switched conferences, the skins' aren't going to make it this year.

The Skins probably won't make it, but my comment was because SG said the Jets would make the playoffs if they were in the NFC, which is ludicrous.

Yea, i said that very early in the season...Obviously I don't think that way now.
But you just like to keep mentioning it...I am sure you have never ever changed your mind about something.

Not sure if i said it that late but even if I did, 2-3 weeks can change a lot in this league.
And I also said that i didn't think they would make it if they were in the NFC East and I also said it wasn't because I thought the Jets were good, it was because i thought the NFC was that bad.

Do you still think the NFC is "that bad"? The AFC has the two best teams in the league by far, but head to head, there isn't that much difference between the two.

I think it would be unfair for anyone to say the NFC is as bad now as it seemed like it was going to be.
However, I am not sure how many good teams they have...The NFC West is terrible.
The NFC South has some decent teams but no one that i would consider a legit threat.
The North is looking good but just like you have to guard optimism with the Browns, I think you need to do the same with the Lions.
The Eagles and Bears ineptitude hurts the NFC but some other teams have stepped up.
Still wouldn't surprise me to see an 8-8 NFC team make the playoffs.

You said it about 3 weeks ago, not very early in the season, and you never said you changed your mind, if you could have just admitted that it was a ridiculous comment, I wouldn't bring it up, but since you didn't do that, I have to assume that you still believe it to be the case. Obviously you don't now, so I won't bring it up anymore.

Big comeback for the Browns, which is fine by me considering how much flack I've been taking for where I've been ranking them.

However, 3 weeks ago they had 3 less losses so things can change quickly.

They have been lucky to come away with wins the last 2 weeks HOWEVER this team is finding ways to win games that they would have lost last year(and every year before that).
That is an encouraging sign for John and other Cleveland fans.
I just wonder what they are going to do with Quinn/Anderson.

I think the distance between the Patriots and Colts compared to the rest of the league is getting larger and larger. I don't see a team from the NFC competing against those two. I really don't see any team in the AFC competing against them. However, factoring them out, the two conferences are pretty much equal. It's pretty impressive that a team can go on the road out west back to back weeks and pick up two wins (Packers) and a soft (6-2) Lions team can demolish a team that beat the NFC North leaders.
I agree that the NFC West is a disaster (keep that in mind when talking strength of schedule :) ) but there are some pretty bad teams in the AFC (Oakland, Jets, Dolphins) as well.
The Saints have really turned things around. Dropping 41 on the Jags isn't easy.

Yeah, the West is really bad, and 8-8 will be good enough for the Seahawks to make the playoffs imo, but I'm guessing 9 wins for them. However, the Chargers can probably make the playoffs going 8-8 or 9-7, since the AFC West isn't that good either. I also agree the NFC South isn't that good, but the Saints are now looking a lot like last years Saints, so they might be a legit threat to make it to the SB. It's hard to say anyone is a legit threat to win it all other than the two teams that played in Indy today.
The AFC is obviously better, but that's in large part due to the two super powers, otherwise, as of right now, none of their teams are that impressive considering how the Chargers and Jags played today. Those were two top 5 AFC teams that were easily beaten by NFC teams that weren't considered top 5 NFC teams.
I also think an NFC team could end up 10-6 and not make the playoffs. If the Skins can play more like they did early in the year, they could end up 10-6, but behind the Cowboys, Giants, Packers, and Lions, or if the Lions win 10,they could lose the tie breaker with the Skins. Then you got the other two division winners.

I think you got to keep going with Anderson this season. After this season, I'm going to predict he'll be in Minnesota.

Well Anderson has to remain the starter as long as he continues to play well, and if he continues to play as well as he has, I think they need to look into trading Quinn in the offseason. Anderson has been great. This could be Brees/Rivers all over again. So far, looks like the Chargers made the wrong decision on that one.

Their play on the field hasn't changed much. They were a bad team then, and continue to be one, although Clemens may be an improvement.

Kitna's looking like a prophet. Six wins at the halfway point is pretty impressive. Being a Skins, I'm glad they own that tie-breaker. The Saints are putting it together. I'm worried about them. I don't think the Packers are that good, but man, 7-1 is pretty good. It'll be tough to get past them if they have home field in January.

I don't mean for this to sound as a joke, but they may be the best 1-8 team ever. They've been in most of their games. They had a couple of drops that could have put them over the top today.

Who would of thought the Lions and Browns would be where they are today. It's kind of amazing how the Browns like the Bengals, Colts, Ravens etc... hire coaches whose reputation is built on one side of the ball yet lead teams who develop into teams whose strength is on the other side of the ball.

The AFC is a 16.5 point favorite in the Super Bowl. What does that say about the gap between the conferences?
The AFC is a 16.5 point favorite in the Super Bowl. What does that say about the gap between the conferences?
It says exactly what I said before, they have the two superpowers, that's the main difference. And that makes it a sizable difference, but when people say playing in the AFC is much tougher than the NFC, that isn't necessarily true, depends on the division and the schedule.
