Is anyone else as intrigued by this game as me? The graphics look great. The gameplay is going to be very open to the player allowing to pick and choose what to do, the story sounds awesome (there's also a good surprise something sci-fi ish that hasn't been revealed), it's a new franchise as well. I've read nothing but positives about this game and I look forward to it's release which is 2 weeks away.

I have been waiting for this game to come out for about a year now. I really can't wait for it. I have a PS3 and it appears the things you can do on this game are endless.

Yeah, same here. (Except I have a XB360, no PS3 yet...) There are so many great games coming out, its a great time to play video games.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but the crew of EGM said that Assassin's Creed was one of the biggest disappointments of E3.

Ubisoft had someone playing a level at the MS Press Conference. Seemed a bit buggy and it looked like there were frame rate problems. I was pretty shocked to see this from a game that close to release. Hopefully, everythings been fixed.

I read that. Apparently it was because the demo they showed was full of glitches. It seems that issue has been resolved because everything I've read about it recently is saying how awesome it is.

I'm waiting on this game also, absolutely picking it up next week. Might pull me away from NBA 2K8.
It got a 37/40 in Famitsu, a Japanese gaming publication who are usually very hard on their reviews. Halo 3 also got a 37/40 from them.

With all the great games coming out a little extra cash would be handy. Basically I need to try in beat Assasins Creed in about 1 week because on the 20th Mass Effect comes out and that game looks really really really awesome, really!!

I don't think you can beat AC in 1 week. At least not the correct way to maximize the game. But I agree. A ton of games coming out. Good time to be a gamer.
I have the PS3 but with little time to play it with work and everything, I don;t mind having it. The Blu Ray is unreal and AC will take up more time than I want. :)

The CoD community I play, www.freesoldiers.net, should get their server up tonight, then, hopefully, I will feel like I made the right decision.

The only complaint I've heard about the game is that the campaign is a little bit short.

I beat the game last night. I played it from 3 pm to 10 pm straight, so it took about 7 hours. I played it on the normal difficulty, but it was intense. Great story, great graphics, great gameplay. I guess 7 hours is a little short, but there is still the whole online experience, I unlocked an arcade mode, and I'm sure it takes longer to beat on the harder difficulties. I have no complaints about the game. Theres also some variety in the levels which was refreshing. Its not all run and gun throughout the whole game.
I would recommend it to anyone.

Much like how Halo is ment to be played on Legendary, COD is ment to be played on Veteran. I remember playing COD 2 when I first got my 360. Fantastic game but short; didn't take me very long to beat. Then I went back and played it on Veteran (for the acheivements). Somehow a 7 - 8 hour game took me two weeks to beat ... and it never got old. I really do believe that fighting through that is what really made me better at games like Halo.

I got it and so far I'm liking it a lot. I can't figure out how to save the game though, it looks like it's autosaving along the way, but when I go to quit back to modern day it warns me that my progress will be lost.
I haven't gotten that far yet. I just received the list of people who need to no longer be living.
Does anyone else not see the point to the alternate angles during cut scenes? You have to hit "any button" at specific points, but what does it get you? A cut scene is a cut scene.

I've played it for a couple hours now, I'm on my second assassination target. As of right now I love the game, I think it started a little slow but now that I'm getting to go to the cities and kinda do the free roam and all the side tasks its alot more fun. The combat system is awesome so far, it actually takes some amount of skill and rewards more timing and rhythm then it does smashing random buttons at the same time like some games.

I have the lockup bug, but I'm progressing slowly.
Can anyone tell me if there's a way to quick travel. Having to run through town after seeing head Mula boss man gets old and so does having to ride a horse from there to the city I want to go to. I get it, the scenery is beautiful, but what's the purpose of a GPS where you can lock onto things if you can't quickly get there.

I just got my second. I killed the doctor dude. I keep forgetting which icon is the short sword and which is the discrete blade. I should probably look that up. :D
I'm also working under the assumption that scaling all the towers and rescuing all the townspeople will pay off in the end.
As far as the lockup goes, no lockup today. I logged off of the Playstation network and turned off that new scrolling announcement thing. That may have done the trick.
I've gotten through the first 4 assassinations. They get alot tougher after the first 3. The assignments are in the rich districts for assassinations 4 through 6 and there are no icons for where the view points, interrogations, pick pockets, etc. are. But its cool. The view points are harder to climb up, but once you find them, then you can see the icons for the investigations in that area. I actually had my first "true" assassination on my 4th mission. I finally was able to sneak up behind the guy, for all the others I had to kill them with my sword.

I agree with that. I'm about to go and assassinate my 4th target and the difficulty has gone up. A couple of the view points are really hight up and they are much harder to get up because the path up often isn't a straight line. I've also noticed that when you rescue a civilian there are more guards there to put up a fight.

I finally got my first assassination, or should I say, killing, because I was spotted and had to fight a couple guys and ran the roofs back to the safehouse.
But, there is so much to do in this game, traveling from city to city and finding all those stupid flags, rescuing people, checking on the scenery...
I love the fighting sequence by locking onto guys and defending yourself.
The only thing I wish you could do is shoot a bow and arrow at your target from the rooftops...
I am hoping to get my "true" assassination soon...

I'd have to disagree. The combat is pretty straight forward. You don't need to pull off these challenging button combinations to perform a simple attack or counter, rather it's more about timing, hitting the buttons at the correct time. Once you get the timing down you can pull off some slick attacks.

Does anyone have any ideas? I got the 1 investigation just by luck to be honest. The investigation prompt came up.

Look for view points. Tall buildings with flags on the top. They won't show up on your map anymore. Also, obviously, make sure you're in the right district.

Whoops, I meant to say, they don't show up until you do get a view point. Then if there is something within that area, it will show you. And they don't show you where the view points are, you have to find them on your own.

I went to the city with the short name for number four. I still have parts of the city that are locked up and all the high points are ones I've already climbed.
Also, is it me, or is killing the beggars worth getting rid of the annoyance. :-)

Well all of the medium districts are still locked, but the rich district is newly open at that point. And thats where your mission will be for assassinations 4-6. If you look on your map you'll see that all of the view points visible are in the poor district. Thats because they don't show you where they are in the rich district. You have to find them on your own, then it'll open up your map.

A decent amount still. It depends on how much you investigate. I started doing fewer investigations to help cut down on time. Without giving tooo much away I'll say that there is a 9th target. As i said previously you will also have a few big battles along the way against multiple soldiers that you "have" to fight you can't run. I suggest using the short blade more often it's easier to counter with. If you use your long sword you could be introuble if you are surrounded by a big group of enemies.

I always thought there were nine targets. That the last batch came in two instead of three clued me in.
Except for that last skill, the x to counter when they attack, I'm pretty good at fighting. It is getting more difficult though, I agree.
When it comes to investigations, I've been doing 3-4. I've been avoiding the informers because I hate timed tasks, especially when it's something as stupid as collecting flags.

You have to still take the horse out of the city, then you can jump.
I'm starting my nineth assassination now. All I can say is that the game is great, and the informers are fun when they have you kill people rather than pick up stupid flags.
The modern story line still sucks though. I keep hitting R1 to have him run through that stupid room and it doesn't work.

Some of the informants are lame. I mean the one guy is like "can you kill them for me my back hurts" and another one thinks it's too hot out for him, I mean WTF he's supposed to be an assassin.

That has to be the worst part of the game - the dialog. Plus, there's no way to skip it if you've heard it before and I have. Every time I save someone it's the same speech. I try walking away and I can only get so far before the game stops me.
It's even worse when I'm locked in a spot, surrounded by dead bodies and all I want to do is leave the scene, but I'm stuck until some NPC finishes saying something pointless and then 20 more guards show up.
At least you can kill the beggars and the drunk guys to get them out of your way. Not that often though, otherwise the game resets for violating the creed. :D

**** Spoilers to follow ****
We'll I finally beat the game. I thought the final battle and the stuff leading up to it was a bit easy compared to the Richard the Lionheart bit right before it.
What were your thoughts? Knowing it's going to be a triology, I expected a cliffhanger, but I felt it was a bit anti-climatic. It would be cool if the next two took you to different time periods to be an assassin. Imagine the middle ages or modern day.
I thought the game play on the modern day stuff was stupid. I don't care enough to figure out the code on the floor, although I did see the one in Lucy's e-mail - "We'll be there soon" or something like that. It's pretty bad when you make it through the whole game without cheating at all and then have to use the strategy guide to figure out how to get to the credits so you can get to the scene after the credits.
Basically, it's setting it up for him being an assassin in the modern time. I couldn't tell if the American refugees fleeing to Mexico was a sign of now being in an alternate timeline or if it was more humor along the lines of the last movie studio closing.

**** Spoilers to follow ****
We'll I finally beat the game. I thought the final battle and the stuff leading up to it was a bit easy compared to the Richard the Lionheart bit right before it.
Yeah the battles against his army were pretty tough, but were manageable as long as you didn't get surrounded. The final battle was definitely easier. Fighting all the bosses wasn't too bad either again as long as you didn't get surrounded.

They definitely could've given it a better ending even though it was planned as a trilogy. The way things just kind of stopped I was expecting something else to happen but it didn't. I think you will be an assassin in another time period in the sequels as you search for the other artifacts. I also expect the future guy to eventually go on missions as well.

Most of the modern day stuff was kind of weak. It was neat to find out that Kristen Bell's character is an assassin too. I was a little mad when I sat through all the credits just so I could read some more emails (at least the emails did give a little bit more info) and use your eagle vision to see the hidden text. I was too lazy to figure it out so I found out what it said online. When I find it again I can post it for you, but it's nothing too important.

I think it could be neat to be an assassin in the modern time, but if they do I think they should give him some new combat moves.
If I had to give the game a grade it would probably be a B-

Okay, I've finished the first five assassination targets.
*SPOILERS TO FOLLOW*
I've really liked the last two assassinations. I jacked up the fat dude in Damascus that wiped out everyone (other than me) that attended his party, and I took out the executioner in Jerusalem before he had the chance to kill any of his prisoners.
The only complaints I have about the game is that it's kinda repititious, the dialogue is limited and stupid, and some of the NPC's are annoying as crap. The latter is really making me pull my hair out. The beggars are driving me up a wall and the drug addicts (at least, I'm guessing that's what the shirtless guys are that push you around) are really starting to tee me off.

I'll play the 2nd one when it ever comes out, but that ending still ticks me off. I remember when I beat it and I got to the ending I was like WTF and then my wife starts laughing at me b/c she thought it was funny how the game just stops.

If it just stopped in the past I would have been fine, but the present story line never paid off.
