I had my reserves when I first heard about this film, but the trailers have grown on me.

Is anyone else planning to see it?

Three things.

1. Beowulf is awesome.

2. The new trailer for "Cloverfield" is awesome.

3. The new trailer for The Golden Compass is awesome.

That is all! ;)

What I am curious about is the 3D version. Can you only see it in 3D at IMAX theaters? I saw online that the AMC theater at the Columbia Mall and Muvico at Arundel Mills Mall has times for Beowulf and then separate times for Beowulf Digital 3D. Does anyone know if that is crappy, nauseating 3D like the Disney movies with the 3D glasses?

You know, I'm not quite sure. I opted to see the standard version at Muvico.

Hopefully, it's more like the 3D IMAX films you see at the Smithsonian. My jaw dropped the first time I saw a film like that.

Actually, I don't think I have ever seen a 3D IMAX film, so I don't know how to compare. I am very curious about the quality in a standard theater because a 3D half-naked Angelina Jolie may be worth the price of admission

I saw the movie last night. Although me and the wife were late so I missed the first 10 minutes or so and the previews. (Gah that sux that there was a cloverfield trailer!!)

As for the actual movie though I was pleasantly surprised. I went into it with pretty low expectations but I thought they did a good job. I know they changed some stuff from the original story (I don't exactly remember b/c it's been a while since I've read it) but all in all it was a good movie. I also thought the animation was very good.

Saw it tonight with my g/f. She's the one that wanted to see it more, so I went along with it.

The animation is stunning and I don't think they swayed to far from the source material. Beowulf was the original egomaniac, wasn't he?

Actually they did. I wanted to skim over the book just to make sure.

The biggest difference being that in the book Beowulf killed Grendel's mother. Grendel was not Hrothgars son and the dragon wasn't Beowulf's son. That said Beowulf is a tough story to adapt and bring to the big screen. Maybe they should have let Peter Jackson do it instead!:D

Right... I read the synopsis of the story on wikipedia and realized that the movie did in fact stray quite a bit from the source material post Grendel.

Well, shouldn't this be in the rants forum (or maybe a PM)?
So, you're buying it huh? Me, I'm not so sure. (Wonder if we'll ever know?) Maybe it's time for another song...

Aren't the holidays great? ;-)

I am Ripper... Tearer... Slasher... Gouger. I am the Teeth in the Darkness, the Talons in the Night. Mine is Strength... and Lust... and Power! I AM BEOWULF!

Man, that's gotta be the best line I've heard in a movie this year, if not the past few years. Haha.

Just saw this movie this weekend. I liked it for the most part and found the animation incredible. After watching how they did the movie, I'm even more impressed. Really cool stuff.

I think they could have ussed a little more of Beowulf kicking butt in the earlier portion of the movie, but the scene at the end with the dragon was pretty cool.
