*** I warned you in advance ***

Wow... I did not see the nuclear bomb detonation coming. That's probably the best level I've ever played in a video game. All I can say is "damn..."

Talk about intense, that was insane. I loved that level, the opening level on the ship, the level when you're high in the sky in the helicopter (and everythings black and white), the flashback level where you run around sniping, and the very last part of the game (before the credits).

Awesome gaming experience.

Yeah, the level with the thermal scan (the black-and-white helicopter stage) was money. I just started the flashback level around Chernobyl. This game is crazy!

It was a little sad that your character was killed by the nuclear detonation, but then again, I guess it wouldn't have made much sense if you were the only one to walk out of the city alive. Haha.

By the way, this is the video of the nuclear bomb detonation in Call of Duty 4. The quality is kinda crappy, but you get the gist.

I can't believe how good this game was. I never played any Call of Duty or really any war games for that matter before this, they're usually just not my type of game. But I couldn't put this game down until I finished it. Have fun the rest of the way. It ends well.

I got the game this weekend and love it (Just like the 3 before it) best graphics and story line of any game I have every played. However I beat it after one full day of playing it! That is the only thing I have always hated about the Call to Duty series.

Just finished the game and man was the ending great. The whole dang game was intense and only got stuck twice on normal level and after about 20 minutes I eventually got through. I loved the fact it was like a movie we were in.

I won't ruin the ending but that was pretty damn cool!!!!

Anyone play online?

I haven't gotten too far on the campaign cause I've been too busy with the online. Best online game I've played on the 360, with Gears of War a close 2nd.

One bad thing about online is the servers. They are terrible when you're trying to get a game going with a specific group of friends. Even when you're playing when you're the only one in your party, it can sometimes tke awhile to get a game.

I got stuck so bad at the level where you have to call in the air strikes to get by hordes of bad guys that I had to break and try it again a few days later. After about another 10-15 minutes I finally figured it out. That was probably my biggest sticking point.

The nuke was pretty intense but I also thought the part where the missiles were being launched was as well.

I've only played two games online and got owned both times, but that was before I played the game so I'll be back in there when I get some time.

Great game though, even better than COD3.

Yeah, this is the one thing that still bothers me with this game. There's no discrimination in who Matchmaking pairs you up with. Your first game, you're almost assured to get matched in a game with 30's, 40's and 50's. It's one thing to be matched with people who are highly more skilled than you, but it sucks even more to realize that they're equipped with far more power, accurate weapons.

Anyone have a clue how two people can play COD4 on xbox live from the same 360? I never had a problem with COD3, but COD4 will not allow more than one on an xbox live game...weird. I hope I just can't figure it out because if they took this out I'll be po'd.

I have it on PC but what I did was hide all the way around by where the guys come out straight in front of you and snipe and nade them from behind the building. It was the only way I was able to do it.

I only play the game on veteran and I think its best to set up claymores around the white fence so they explode when they get past that point.

I also use C4 right past the fence where the cars are. If you time it right it's really cool watching the cars and bodies fly at the same time.

After that go inside the place where they would be selling tickets for the ferris wheel. (Wooden thing with a window). I like the one on the right of the ferris wheel when standing where you put your mate down.

All heck will break loose by then and don't be afraid to be a coward. Hide in the wooden ticket booth.

Just stay low once they break your lines and the c4 and only combat the guys that get behind the ferris wheel. The protection from the ticket window will keep the million grenades from killing you.

I've done it this way three times without dying either time. Of course I died many times trying to find a successful way to do it.

Just stay low!!!

Hope this helps.

That actually sounds like it might work... I'm gonna have to try that tomorrow. I feel bad being a coward, but then again, at one point I looked over during one of my many tries, and there were two enemies standing right next to the Captain, shooting across the way at me, paying me no heed. And I figured, he's not going to die, plus, he is an imaginary character and has no feelings, so I am going to hide and save my own sorry little rear end, because I have feelings and I like to feel safe and secure and I DON'T LIKE GETTING SHOT.

If you're standing behind the ferris wheel, look 90 degrees to your right and you should see a pavilion. There's a tall fence connected to it, so If you walk behind there, there's plenty of cover and there's only one way they can get to you.

What I did was sit behind the ferris wheel and snipe until they'd broken my defensive line of claymores and ran behind the pavilion. It's raised off the ground a little bit, so it's the perfect height for you to crouch down and keep sniping. You have a limited view, but you don't need to see much since there's only one way to get to you. This also helps for when the helo arrives because you can just sprint out, and it's a straight shot from behind the ferris wheel to where you have to pick up the injured guy and the helo is right there. There's really only 2 easy ways for them to get behind the wheel, so you shouldn't really run into too many soldiers trying to get the injury guy.

I don't know if you play on veteran or not but I tried this path on veteran and didn't survive. It's a good place to go but they do come up from the front right corner as well as the wheel and eventually the grenades will get you.

If you did this on veteran, kudos to you. If you're not on veteran difficulty then it works no problem.

The grenades are the problem on veteran and the enemy knows where you are whether or not you fire your weapon.

Once the helo lands, I have never had a problem getting my injured Captain, and once he's in your arms I don't think you can die. I ran right through all three times when it didn't look good and I made it no problem.

Now, I wouldn't recommend standing around with him in your arms. I bee lined right for the helo and was gone before you know it.

Maybe I'll do it again and see if they kill me. Curious minds always want to know.

P.S. The Mile high episode on Veteran is really good. It actually took me a few tries to figure out the secret to it. But that has to be the hardest part.

As for missions in the game, the fighting in the war room was tough on veteran just because you get much less time to do it.

This did the trick for me (on Hardened). The little ticket got me pretty close a couple times, but they would always get me with a grenade in the end. Once I finished this mission, it wasn't too bad making it the rest of the way through the game. Some very cool moments, great game.

I didn't finish Mile High Club, though - mostly because I was a bit worn out and didn't want to keep trying over and over. I will go back and tackle that one later. Next up is to go through on Veteran, as well as try to pick up some of the achievements I missed this time around.

Yeah, I did it on Veteran. It's actually not that bad. The area you're in is big enough for you to move around in. You just have to really be aware of when grenades drop around you. It also really helps if you've dropped your pistol and picked up an AK-47. Between that and my snipe, I was picking guys off pretty quick. That might be another reason I didn't have as much of a problem with grenades.

I actually haven't finished the game on Veteran yet. I stopped to start playing online and haven't quite gotten back to it yet. I'm actually stuck just before you get to the War Room part. In the store room/missle silo area where the clock starts ticking down? It wouldn't be so bad, but for some reason there's no check point between the store room area and the silos so when I die, I have to start over all the way back on the staircase. I'm still trying to figure out why there's no check point there on Veteran considering there was when I played it on Normal and Hardened.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes the ak-47 does help. I found it too hectic in that area and the one ticket booth on the back side no problem. I will go back and try it again your way since when I first tried it I was just trying different areas to see what was best.

Like I said I only play on veteran and actually thought the game was fairly easy. The key is to take your time. The only parts I found tough are the timed ones since I take my time.

I liked Mile High Club the best but I could understand why it might frustrate some. I don't mind doing things over and over. Once I finish, then I don't like going back. :)

I got 1000/1000 fairly quick since most points were awarded for playing on veteran.

Either way it was a great game and pretty realistic for a game. I don't know how anyone could enjoy it without the rumble controller though. That makes the whole game in my opinion.

Sorry I didn't see the end of this or I would have helped you.

The reason is your not getting to the steps in time. When you play it on veteran your given much less time to make it to the checkpoints. I ususually get to the first checpoint around the 7:20 mark on the clock. I am not sure of the exact second cut-off but I believe I have been there as late as 6:50 and still got the checkpoint. Either way you must make it there by a set time or else you don't receive the checkpoint because you wouldn't be able to finish the mission with the small amount of time you have left. This is why I was saying this was the hardest mission in the game. Just get to the top of the steps around 7:00 or better and you will get the checkpoint.

A tip for you is to go to the left side at the begining. I've done both sides and find the left side much shorter.

There are a couple more checkpoints as you go through the level....but get to the first one, then, if you need help let me know.

I have been making my way through the game on Veteran now. It is tough. There were a couple parts so far where I thought I'd never get through (I am to the end of Act 1, after the nuke so far.)

One was the room in the TV station - I tried a thousand times to run across the way to the office and make my way through there, but the sheer number of grenades coming in and the six guys lining up at the windows was doing me in every time. Eventually, I said screw it, and booked it straight across the room, throwing a grenade into where the hallway with the door you're heading for comes out, and knocking out enough of those guys that I could get in there and behind the corner. I think that stopped the enemies from spawning, so I just had to wait for my squad to clear out the guys who were in that room and then come through to where I was.

Parts I am not excited for: the ferris wheel part, getting to the LZ in the mission after the ferris wheel, and pretty much the whole last mission.

Tried Mile High Club on veteran just for kicks (still haven't been able to beat it on hardened!) and I think that's one achievement I will never manage...

There are ways to beat every mission as you yourself found a way to beat the TV room. I actually went around the hall which was really cool because they were actually shooting at me through the drywall.

The Mile High Club is tough of course but is very beatable. If you need some advice and ways to make it much easier I will be glad to help.

I can beat it about 1/5 times. So once you figure it out it still seems to be an 80% of dying. I did make it three straight once at a party.

Like you figured out before, you don't have to kill very many people to succeed. That's your first hint :)

OH MY FRICKING GOODNESS.

I made it to the next to last level (War Room) on Veteran, and I was coasting through the level, until I made it to the checkpoint before the blockaded hallway. I have about 6:15 or so left. Unfortunately, I just spent 80 minutes trying to get through that part, but to no avail.

I keep trying to get up next to the doors that lead off to the side, throw a flashbang across the hall, and then spin around and book it into the opposite silo - so I don't get nailed in the back by the guy across the way. But I only manage to take down the guy I'm running towards about 1 in every 10 times, and then I only once have made it beyond that silo. I feel like once I get past this one little part of the mission, I'm home free to the end of the game (this part was a bottleneck for me in Hardened too).

Anyone have any tips??

I too found this the toughest part of the game and even tougher then the plane mission.

If you made it to the checkpoint at 6:15 your''re in really good shape. I was there at 5:51 and made it so you do have an extra 24 seconds which is a lot in this level.

Run straight toward the left turn into the hall with the baricade in front. Kill the first few guys you see around each corner then book right to the barricade and shoot everyone behind it by crouching and blasting through the small cracks on the right side. Then stand up and hit head shots down each side. You'll know when your done because of the music.

Then slowly back up til you get to the crossway and pick the guy or guys off on the right and turn around and shoot the guys in the left side. Go up the side that is on your left now (remember you turned around so it was your right coming in) and walk up the hall and throw a flash bang in the back left side which will cause two guys to come out. Kill them then crouch and pick the guy off on the middle right side and then line straight up the tube slowly and kill both or three guys straight back.

Then you can come up the tube and slowly pick off the guys on the next tube on the left. This is a tough one so either grenade or flash bang to get the first couple then inch around crouched down to get the two guys that are just hoping you'll stick your neck out. Once you pick these two suckers off (they killed me a few times  ) then run for it. You can sprint all the way to the door and if you have enough time left you will get the next checkpoint.

Hope this helps.

This is the best I can do off memory, so it might not be perfect, but I believe it is. I've done that level enough to think that :o

I've done just this and my daughter and I are able to bond this way. It's great online and also with system link between the two boxes.

There's only one catch and that is that you need two of each game. I didn't think of that before hand, so just in case it slipped your mind, you now know.

My way around it was to get a Gamefly account. I can either have two of the same game sent out, or I can have a copy of one I own sent out so I have two of the same temporarily.

Now if I can only get two guitars :)

Finally beat it on Veteran. Except for Mile High Club, that is. I am going to wait a couple days and then hammer that out.

Once I got past that bottleneck with the barricade and the silos, I had no trouble making it the rest of the way through. That has to be the most difficult part of any game I have ever played.

Did you try the way I suggested or just let the flow of your nerves and high blood pressure get you through it?

Like I said before, I found this the hardest part of any shooter game I've ever played. The bad news is the computer AI is catching up to us or I am slowing down. Probably a little of both.

Congrats on the level, I know how hard it was.

Now you have to get 1000/1000 :)

I didn't find that killing the guys on the other side of the barricade helped all that much - I died quicker trying to do that than I was dying going the other way. I realized that if you take out the guy down the right hallway first, and then the guy down the left, it was easier because of the way they were positioned. Once I had that down, it was just a matter of being able to pick the guys off in the silos before they could take me out, so eventually I made it through.

I'm up to 980/1000 - 20 extremely difficult points from my first completed game! I managed to accomplish all of the smaller objectives on my two playthroughs (although I had to go back through a few earlier ones for intel that I missed, and I had to shoot out all the TVs). Very satisfied with the game overall, though - gave me a fantastic sense of accomplishment that games don't often give me anymore, since they're typically pretty easy.

It works either way with the barricade, but if you stay low they can't hurt you if your right in front of it and then you have no chance of dying while shooting the guys up and down each side. That is why I like to charge the barricade and besides it only takes 30 seconds and keeps you safe.

The game does give you a sense of accomplishment. I love the gullied up mission and looking for the intel. I also loved finding the cog tags in Gears of War. Right now I am playing Tenchu z and there is one guy that wears a special hat and he is hidden in each mission and you have to try and find him in all fifty missions. The game is not that good but I do have 40/50 of the hidden guys!

And, shooting the Tv's out seemed to be the worse achievement in the game. I had to do it to complete the game so I did but it seemed useless.

So yea phenominal game, I beat it on Regular (not a big FPS guy). Anyways I CANNOT get to play online! Whenever I try to find a match the thing just searches and it has yet to ever find anyone else! super annoying!!!!!

I cheated a bit on the Intel - I got a list of which how many intel each mission had - so I knew if I had them all from each mission. Just thought the fun and challenge was supposed to be scouring each levels for them, not spending 40 hours trying to figure out which mission you missed one on.

Not a big deal or anything but if anyone else needs to know how many intels are on each level, its already in the game. Click the start button while on a mission and I believe its options then cheats but you will find it under cheats.
Its been over a month since I played it so I'm a little foggy but it's there.

I also used this info and since I always start a game on the hardest available setting, I had to go back and get a few intel myself.

As for not finding anyone online. If you have an xbox360 there are tons on line at all times. It will even tell you how many people are in each type of game and you can choose where to play. If your not getting that info before you start then you better check your network. I've never had any problem finding people except the time the servers were down. Maybe that is when you tried? That was like Christmas week.

Finally finished Mile High Club on Veteran. I got the the end where you have to shoot the guy with the pistol, and I was so psyched that I got there that I totally blew it and took out the hostage. It almost reduced me to tears. Fortunately, it only took me another 20-25 tries to get back there again, and the second time I took a deep breath and finished the job.

1000/1000, and now I don't want to touch that game for at least a week, multiplayer or no...

Good job, don't feel bad about missing the first time on the hostage.

I got stuck on the chair sticking out so my guy didn't move forward anymore. I watched the timer go from six seconds to zero and I failed the mission. It took me 45 min to get back there and beat it. I then did it on easy just to find out it was the chair. At first I didn't know why the doors didn't open, I thought just because I was on veteran that it was different. I sure know now...don't stay all the way right!!!

That is a great minute of fun, determination, struggles and downright frustration when you get oh so close.

But worth it in the end.....We'll have to team up online someday...after you recover!

COD4 is a great game. Trying to beat it on hard which is impossible and frustrating.

I got COD4 for Christmas and have been playing it non-stop. There were literally red splotches in my eye from playing so long without blinking the other night. Anybody else have it on PS3 that wants to kick my butt online?
