Monday night. Cold and windy. Bad 4-7 team taking on one of the best NFL teams in the history of the game in what was expected to be a blowout.

And the stadium was packed.

OK, there were a lot of Patriots fans there. It wasn't as bad as it can get at Steeler games, but there were at least a couple dozen Pats fans in each section.

But Ravens fans cheered loud and often, and stayed until the very end. It was a good game, and if it had been a blowout, I am sure the stadium would have emptied out quickly, but I expected empty seats in the stadium last night, like we have seen in Pittsburgh a lot lately.

So regardless of the outcome, I think Ravens fans did themselves proud last night. I hope America took notice.

Absolutely. Those of you that went did the city proud last night.

Unfortunately, every time I see something like this it just irritiates me that Carolina and Jacksonville were allowed to have expansion teams and we weren't. Certainly a blemish on the NFL's record to have made Baltimore go that long without a team.

It really was a great performance from the fans. Not one empty seat in the place to watch a 4 and 7 team in blistering cold.

There were more pats fans than any other visiting fans for the game, but it was too be expected. And really, there were not that many at all. Maybe 2,500 or so. Ravens fans definitely travel as well or better than that to away games not in Cleveland or Pitt.

Pittsburgh has an enormous national fanbase, and great fans, but I really don't think they are as passionate on gameday as Baltimore fans are. The tailgate scene was out of control last night and the stadium was mayhem. Compare that with the scene in Pittsburgh for all their national tv games this year....empty seats galore in a much smaller stadium for a team that is 9 and 3!

Oh and people do take notice. I heard Jaws and Kornheiser were gushing about the atmosphere at the game last night. Peter King always talks about the atmosphere at Ravens games. Look at what he said yesterday.

Baltimore's best ally tonight is the crowd. That M&T Bank faithful can be venomous, as I heard last January when the Colts came to town. There isn't the same reason for vengeance tonight, but the Ravens have to create a first-quarter turnover and let the defense be offensive to have a chance. Bill Belichick made a good point about the Baltimore defense and the impact of its defensive tackles, Kelly Gregg and Haloti Ngata, the other day when he said, "How many tackles does [Ray] Lewis have? He must have 150 tackles. You can give a lot of those, an assist or whatever you want to give, to Gregg.''

Just a great job overall. I really hope this passion is brought to the O's again someday.

It was painful to be there, to watch. Physically painful.

I've never been in a locker room like that in my life.

Don Shula gave the fans props from the booth.

I wish I could have been there. There were about 5 of us watching it together and we were blazing with excitment the entire time.

Burds, what was it like, were they steaming about the refs? They knew they should have won the game right?

Give us some insight? From your experience do you think that Billick is losing this team? I think that and all I do is watch them on the field.

It was a blast to be out there last night.

It definitely had a playoff atmosphere.

The thing that would have made it better (aside from a win) is if the Ravens were competitive this season. I can't imagine how much more excited the crowd could have been, but we would have found a way.

I had a group of Pats fan hootin' and hollerin' right next to me all the way up Ravenswalk. Man was it annoying. I then asked one of them what they thought of the Yankees getting Tejada and Santana.....LOL.....They flipped out and they all jumped on their cell phones and started calling their friends.

I wouldn't say he's losing the team, no.

I think that you can generally say that the players know when they deserve to win. They didn't complain all that much after we lost to the Browns, because they knew the officials got the call right. I'm not talking about what they said to the media, I'm talking about what they were saying amongst themselves in the locker room.

Last night they were livid.

Ray came in, showered and rolled out. Didn't say a word to the media.

Geez, when Ray Lewis doesn't talk to the press, you know something's up. :D

Stupid Pats Fans

Hey, don't cook the goose with the gander.

But yes, unfortunately right now the majority of Pats "fans" out there are pretty darn stupid. Thank you for putting them in their place!

I'm sorry Doc. If you are a Pats fan, I didn't mean to offend you.

However, the stupid fans I am referring to are the ones that heckled us at the start of the game, heckle us at OPACY in July, and are just downright obnoxious.

I'm firmly convinced Yankee fans are the lesser of the two evils.

I'm sorry that a bunch of jerks had to ruin the beginning of the game for you and make the real fans look bad. I came to enjoy a good football game and to be respectful in an opposing team's stadium. In my section at least, it was the Ravens fans who were ill-behaved! (After the game one guy came up to me and said he was "thisclose" to popping me in the face) Still, I understand the sentiment and anger. I'm an O's fan and a Pats fan. I hate the bandwagoners because I see how they're like during baseball season, and I try to distance myself from them during football season to avoid association with them and their a**hattery.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on the second point as well. Trust me though that the bandwagoners (who comprise pretty much the entire "Fenway South" contingent) are the worst. Lifelong fans of the Red Sox despise the pink-hatters. Just ask my dad.

Yeah, you go to a Ravens game and you will find some real gems there. Like the guy who puked on himself in front of me during the National Anthem.

I just don't understand the rowdiness of that Red Sox crowd so much. Maybe I'm just getting older or something.

I'm sure most the stuff you see at Ravens games is common at every NFL stadium on any given Sunday.
