I'm pretty sure this thread will get locked, and I am ok with that, but I don't want to go down in OH history pigeonholed by some knee-jerk judgements. I really feel misrepresented and pretty hurt by most of those comments. I'm also sort of upset that the thread got locked before I could respond. If people could actually read this instead of seeing the title and going into attack mode, I would appreciate it, because I'm just trying to clear some things up. That said:

If this is a case of simply not wanting to drive insiders away with any sort of criticism, just let me know, and I'll hush up. I just wanted to have a conversation without getting dogpiled.

I wasn't trying to start a flame war, I just know that I've heard the same sentiment several times and I wanted to talk about it.

When I said that one of the things I love about this board is the information, that is what I meant.

I'm not telling anyone to stop reading insider posts; I know I read them and enjoy them. I'm not insulting them in any way, I'm just expressing what I feel is a perfectly valid point of view, and a very MINOR complaint.

I also didn't say anything at all about how valid the information is. I'm aware that I'm not a longstanding member and that the insiders are obviously reliable or nobody would listen to them.

It always amazes how it's the people who have been OHer's for a whole 2 months or so will so rapidly form uninformed opinions about our "insiders." They choose to attack the legitimacy of the insider info rather than accept it is simply a passing on what was heard from their sources. It is info of the moment....whether it eventually proves to be true or not is totally irrelevant.

This is really the post that upsets me the most, not because I'm offended, but because I was sure someone would misunderstand what I'm trying to say like this. That's not an attack on you; I knew that this would upset some people and I'm just sorry I came across as I did.

I am not trying to present an uninformed opinion on the insiders. I know I am relatively new to posting here, and I know (as I said above) that they're doubtless reliable and excellent sources for the board.

I'm also not trying to lump "the insiders" into a group of people. I am taking issue with a few specific posts by a few specific posters and just trying to voice a concern.

Also, I am in no way trying to attack the legitimacy of the info. This is also as I said not a response to a Bedard-Dodgers blockbuster materializing or w/e. I am very grateful for all the information we get and of course I'm aware that very little of it will pan out just due to the nature of negotiations.

Finally, my "ego boost" sentence was too strong. I don't mean to imply that insiders post here to boost their egos, just that the responsibility of being known as an insider here is a heavy burden due to the attention your smallest comment will draw. Even though they're doing us a huge favor, the smallest miscommunication can really mess with a large number of people.

If this post gets locked for being offensive I don't really understand the rules of this forum.

Whatever, I'm just trying to apologize to whoever I offended.

Might I suggest a simple PM to a few of the moderators instead of this type of a thread. :)

I don't think anyone is genuinely offended. They're just saying "Hey, that's the nature of an insider tip. It's not always going to materialize, but we'd still rather hear it than not hear it."

I mean it is December and we are salivating over baseball still. I'll take just about anything I can get.

Agreed. The thread was locked for a reason. If you still have a problem with something someone posted then send them a PM about it, and you won't have to worry about that getting locked.

It's just a subject that has been talked about ad nauseum over the past few years. It's the type of thing where the majority of posters know to take it with a grain of salt.

Mm, yes. I just remembered about PMs

Anyway, I didn't know this sort of topic was such taboo or I wouldn't have posted.

I can see where you are coming from. However, this is a baseball forum so this thread is off topic and should be locked:). Nothing against you SrMeowMeow.

It's just trade-mania time. Some folks live for this. You went against the tide and got your head bit off for it. Nobody said it was fair. It happens. The mods are mainly just doing crowd control.

As Ali G always said, "Respect".

A few things...

1. Insiders? People are going to be skeptical because the information you're sharing really isn't something that can be confirmed. If it hurts your feelings, I'd prefer you refrain from sharing the information with us.

2. Hangouters? The small handful of "insiders" we allow to post as such have had their sources vetted. You're still free to question and refute, but keep in mind (like I've said a million times here before) that what transactions are imminent today could become a fleeting idea tomorrow or even a few hours later.

Also, when an insider is questioned or doubted, the moderators here won't allow any thread to spiral into the "So-and-So and Appreciation Thread." It's cool to show your gratitude, but if someone threatens to take their ball and go home, they're encouraged to do so.

This wasn't directed at anyone in particular, but if you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
