View Full Version : Joe Gibbs Must Stay--my mea-culpa thread!

Mad Mark

Back on 11-12-07, I wrote the following:

I'm sorry to say this, but it's time for Joe Gibbs to go. When I know exactly what his team is going to call in a given situation, don't you think the opposing defense is going to know exactly how to stop it?
The Redskins' complete and utter inability to punch the ball in on short and goal has cost them two games this season. Gibbs' decision to sit on leads has cost them another, and nearly cost them a fourth.
The only game they absolutely should have lost was New England. They could easily be 8-1 right now, rather than 5-4. (Of course, they could also be 2-7 right now, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much...)
Still, I am mad, and my stomach lining is even madder. Watching this team is torture!

In the weeks following the death of Sean Taylor, Joe Gibbs has shown me why he must stay. Whatever else you can say about the man, he has an unerring internal compass for leading this team through it's darkest times. A week from today, they could be preparing for the playoffs. I couldn't have imagined that on 11-12.

I'm eating crow right now, and I have to say, it's tasting pretty damned good.

Way to go, Joe. Keep 'em coming.
